Lifting like girls

Well done on the pr Tom (ugly or not, it's a pr) and great massing!

Hi Karen. Hope all's well.

HTS today - paused front squats, paused deadlifts, 3x30 curls, clean and press.....took about 80 minutes. I think Dean Somerset is trying to kill me.

Our village flooded today (although, luckily not our farm) so there was a bit of sandbag shifting. Great core work!

Hi Roz, lib, Lisa!

Tom, hoorah for the massing! Not sure what a middle line backer is since I don't 'do' football, but I hear Peyton Manning is retiring. Maybe you can take his place?

Hi right back at ya, Karen!

Roz, hope you're getting ready for your trip and that it's as stress free as possible!

LIb, hope you're enjoying Spring Break and your active recovery week.

Justine, 80 mins of HTS definitely constitutes attempted murder in US Courts.

Today I did GS BSB. I think Cathe's announcement is tower/pull-up related. It's at least a product of sorts, which suggests equipment not a workout.

Well, I put it off as long as I could, but got leg day in...not heavy, but HARD! I did 10 sets of squats 115x5 135x5 155x5 175 4x5 and 155 (butt to bench) 3x8. Next were barbell calf raises(100 reps at 155#) x30x25x20x15x10, 2x20 unweighted donkey presses, 1 set of reverse lunges at 115 x5(plenty) and 1 set of barbell static lunges, 155# x12. I finished with glute bridges 255# 3x20. I felt "rode hard and put away wet"!! Hope Thursday was good for all!!

Good Morning Weightroom Warriors! They must have laced the water here in Missouri because I got another 5# PR on strict press! My goal has been to hit 135# and today I did 130, but 135 was a no go. Not sure whats going on, but I think all of the sets of stricties I've been doing is paying off! I'm still a weak pressor, but getting better! After 130x1, was 115x2 105x4x4x4x2 95x8x3 and 85x10. Next were side laterals, 25s 3x12, and rear delt flys, 45s 3x12 and finishing shoulders with dumbbell shrugs 85s 2x30. I did some cable crunches for abs and tried to raise the weight 10#, but I couldn't stay on the ground, so I went back to the previous weight and did 2x16. I hope this is a great Friday for the COMMANDO SISTERHOOD!!

Great news, Tom. Another one bites the dust.

I didn't know, though, that we had the same water supply as Missouri! All my planets were aligned today, and the HTS workout felt almost easy. Upped every single weight (paused squats, speed deadlifts, presses, pull ups...)

Anyway, I'm the heaviest I've ever been in my life (except 9 months pregnant)! When I told my dh, he said 'wow those pull ups are even more impressive', and carried on with what he was doing. Great reaction!!!!

Hope everyone has had what Tom and I've had!!!!!

Get Steppin' Live from 2/25/16. Fun!

Tom, Justine, may I have some of what you're both drinking? Congrats to you for your Commanding Commando workouts today!!!

Justine, your DH deserves an extra smooch for that. Besides, I'm sure it's all those muscles you've developed by doing all those pull-ups. Have you decided to stick with the RP bulking protocol? When are you done with HTS? I can't keep track.

Waves to Karen, Lib, Roz.

Have a lovely Friday!

Today's workout was brutal!!! 10,000,000 step ups with paintbrush, multiple sets of heavy brush side laterals and heavy counter top pulls( great trap work). For a finisher, deep squats with a trim brush!!! THIS WORKOUT IS NOT FOR BEGINNERS!!! Have a great day friends!!

I have to laugh because what I pictured is not what you meant! What is this brush? I'm pretty sure your not painting ;)

Today was chest and back. WOW!! WOW!! WOW!!
Loved it!

Not getting to ride, but turned off phone and focused on resting for two days, (after sleeping 18 hours straight----for the second time) I gave notice at one job, and declined taking on new students right now.......I can't keep doing this. The cool part is the job I gave notice on asked me to step down to just payroll, which just means less hours, :)
When I agreed, she gave me a raise :) :)

Everyone is really killing it!

Thanks for the furniture mover idea! I hadn't thought of that!!

Lib. It WAS a paint brush...kind of a tongue in cheek idea of what the weekend wos were. I was helping my youngest son get a house ready to sell. I think I like REAL IRON better!! Congrats on the raise!

Good morning everyone. Finishing up phase 2 of Kettlebell Burn. It really is kicking my butt. Phase 3 will be bringing in the snatch, and one legged deadlifts. Then phase 4, all these moves are brought together, for a total body kick butt workout. It's kicking my butt now, phase 4 I may be posting from the morgue.
I've been thinking about what I want to do for the Summer. It's my usual time to cut. Thought about running, or metabolic, but I'm thinking of Starting with the first "episode of Cathe Live, and working my way through all of them. I need to start using my on demand. I hate wasting money. Maybe Cathe Live three days a week, then some kind of lifting program for three days. But, then again, the ADHD may rear it's head. Every day is definitely a surprise.
Sorry, I haven't posted on a regular basis. I've been traveling quite a bit for work. Virginia, N Carolina, Indiana, New Jersey, Michigan and Connecticut. I'm so tired of living out of a suitcase, and finding a gym with kettlebells. Hoping things will settle down now. I miss posting, and having a few laughs with all of you.
Take care everyone. You are still, and always be my inspiration. Have a great weekend!

Sarge (Karen), great to hear from you...thought we were going to have to form a "search and rescue team'! Still waiting on Gunny (Roz). Finding a gym with bells cant be easy, congrats on the dedication! Today was arm day for cripples,,haha. I tried some skullcrushers, but not good, so I did do a couple of sets of pushdown, but even that aggravated stuff, so , by default, I did 5 sets of kickbacks with 35s, 4x10 and the last set sort of a burnout set 1x20. For bi's I was again relegated to the short rom isos, placing opposite hand on forearm and curling against resistance. I did a high volume on these, 8x25 reps. Next, to work forearms and stretch the common flexor tendon. I did some hanging dumbbell work, using 35s, and flexing wrist toward the body, then away from the body. I did 4 sets, x 25 x20 x20 x20. I did some ab stuff, crunches, x50 x25 x25, cable crunches 3 x 10 and to finish the tri's, diamond pushups 1x30. Hope the weekend has started well for the Sisterhood!!

Yes, glad sarge is back and not awol. And killing those bells by the sound of it. Going through Cathe live sounds like fun. Aren't there almost 100 so far?

Tom, you sound like you pushed through today. Good on ya for doing something.

Lib, more amazing news- getting paid more for doing less. I want some of that! And I'm not going to ask anything else about what you thought Tom was up to!

Lisa- if only I was trying to mass. I'm supposed to be on a cut! 2 weeks without wine and measuring everything that I eat, and the scale goes the wrong way. Darn it. Mind you RP seems to be working in the sense that I'm getting stronger already. Love it!

Roz, any news?

HTS for 95 minutes today!!!!!! Deadlifted triples at 102kg for 5 sets. Pretty pleased with that (not a pr or anything, but ok). Also paused front squats. Ow. And high rep hip thrusts. I realised the value of intra-workout carbs today!!!!

It almost feels like spring here (maybe that's what's giving me the pep?)

Have a fab and fit weekend commando friends. Xxx

Great workout Tom and Justine. I have read RP, think I'm going to give it a go after I finish Kettlebell Burn. Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated, Roz and Justine. I think Spring may be arriving. I don't want to say it too loud, because that usually brings snow the next day. Great weather this weekend. It's good to be home. Take care, everyone!

RP has changed how I eat quite a bit. I now eat a heck of a lot of carbs on 'moderate' workouts days. Moderate in RP terms means 90 minutes of heavy weights. Cardio, metabolic, hiit all count as rest days!!!! Any lifting less than 90 mins is considered light. Took a bit of humble pie eating to get my head around that one! Then on non-lifting days I get hardly any carbs. But I've IFd before, so cycling my calories isn't too much of a problem.

What is going to be very different is a month of maintenance, and essentially reverse dieting. It'll take a bit not to think of it as plateauing. Massing? Sounds fun, but I can understand how it can mess with your head (women especially).

I know I've put on a bit of weight, but that could be water (extra carbs) and hormones. I'm going to give it another week, and then go to the next cut if necessary. Funny thing is, I already look a bit different.

I'm definitely gaining strength.

I've joined RP clients on Facebook and the stories are inspirational. Quite a lot of cod eating going on, though!

Anyway, Karen, sorry for the ramble, but I'm a convert. Adherence will be my downfall.

Roz has been through a mass- hopefully she'll chime in.

Tom, you get it done, diamond push-ups and all! Great work. Hope you can get back to the bicep work soon with those elbows.

Karen! Missed you! Living out of a suitcase is NOT fun, neither is eating out and scavenging around for workout equipment. Proud of you for making it happen, but not surprised either. I think I would die without Cathe Live. I'm thinking it's so enjoyable it might overcome your workout ADHD. :)

Justine, thanks for the correction. I had misunderstood where you were in the plan. Like Karen said, ALL of my workouts would be, well, nothing I guess, since I don't go for 90 mins. That's kinda depressing... Eating OCD is not good. That's why I shy away from stuff like this. My mother was and is a lifelong disordered eater. So unhealthy and I just don't want to pass that on to my girls. My mom's favorite quote was "a minute on the lips, forever on the hips." Not exactly a healthy eating mindset to pass along to your children. Anyway, not to say that YOU will fall into that trap. I just have a legacy of it in my family so I figure it's safer for me to not go there.

Lib, glad you're back and at it with Meso 3!!!

Just so y'all don't worry, Roz is busy getting ready for her own adventures. I hope she doesn't mind me saying that, she's just got a lot going on, doing some travelling and getting ready for travelling, which is never easy when you've got a little toddler involved!

Today I wanted to do Metabolic Mashup Live (3/3/16) again because it crushed me last week (I got through it but it was tough). It wasn't easy today, but easier. I really like the workout. I usually use heavier weights than Cathe on the Lives, so that plays into it as well. This will be a go-to.
