Lifting like girls

Good Morning Ladies! Well I feel like Justine's video gal...she was a scream!! Sorta bumbled thru an arm day, got some work, but boiled it down to 2 excercises. I alternated tri pushdowns with short rom isos, 10 x 8 on pushdowns, and 10 x 25 on isos. I got 20 sets in, but I feel like my arms are suffering for lack of bi work....depressing! I finished with cable crunches, 4 x 16. I am off this PM to Orlando, then son and I will drive to Tallahassee to do some market ready stuff on his home...no w/os planned. Roz, great volume on heavy lifts..way to go!! Justine that video was TOO funny! (I do wish however that she wouldn't keep her emotions so "bottled up"! HA. Lib, again, HIGH FIVES!! Lisa, whats happening?? Karen, getting worried about you, hope all is well and we miss you!! GRAP SOME LIFE WARRIORS!!

Tom, you know us Brits- stiff upper lip, can't let our feelings show, etc? Yeah, the girl on the video should try to tell it like it really is! Hope Orlando / Tallahassee trip is ok (sounds so exotic to me!)

Roz, fab, fab squatting. Obviously a few more calories has done wonders!

Lisa, did you do Cathe live metabolic? It looks great.

Karen, as Tom said, we miss you. Xx

I had a bit of an exestential workout this morning. Why am I doing this? What am I doing? Why am I here?
Anyway an hour and a half later(!) I was through the workout. The volume has certainly ramped up. Supersets, as usual, of:
Down dog to lunge rotations, low end paused front squats
Half kneeling elastic rotations and double KB clean and press
Lateral lunge with pulse and paused eccentric deadlift
Shoulder carries and biceps curls

The killer of the day? Low end paused front squats. 5 second pause right at the bottom, 4x6. I only dared try 37kg!!!!
Or maybe the killer was the paused deadlifts? (4x5 @ 77kg cos this was over an hour into the workout). Who knows? Glad it's cardio tomorrow!!!

I would have given up by now if I didn't have you lot. Truly. X

Thanks everyone!

Then ICE arrived today. Am on recovery week, and Spring Break started today! Then the prof tells us she's not going to hold class The Tuesday after break! So that's an extra day for me!

Y'all are killing it as usual! I'm going to go scan through afterburn so I can fear it before doing it!
Need to find the slide n glide discs.....don't remember seeing them on the site here, my oldest is so great at thinking outside the box, he suggested frisbies!!

Lib, I used frisbees for a while- they're fine, but a bit big (for a clutch like me). Roz is right, furniture sliders work a treat. For me it's the plank push ups which undo me. Oh, and the mountain climbers- much harder on sliders than 'normal' ones.

MMA boxing today. Needed a break!

Good Morning everybody!!! I'm alive. Loved that hungry video. I can so relate. I remember trying to cut for a competition, and being so hungry, I almost went in the yard, to eat the grass! Some days were almost unbearable. Which brings me to another point. In my spare few minutes I have been reading RP. It stated that women that have kept their bodyfat below 15% were more likely to have osteoporosis, later in life. About five years ago, I was diagnosed with the very beginnings of osteoporosis. Peri something. My physician was totally baffled. She told me that she would never suspect osteoporosis with me. Couldn't figure it out. I started working on improving my bone mass, and caught it early enough, that it is much improved now. I guess my point would be, that for the years I was competing, my bodyfat was always between nine and twelve percent. So, this all makes sense now. Anyway, it's certainly something to think about.
Ok, my workouts have basically been the same. Three days of KB Burn, and three days of something metabolic. Weights haven't gone up, just more reps and sets. TGU, are easier, but still a difficult movement for me. Leave me breathless. I'm totally breathless, after forty minutes of this work. Think I will start my "cut" around mid April. Looks like you are all doing well. Keep up the great work everyone. Tom, your workout sounds like mine, in the next few months. We're trying to remodel, torn everything apart, and haven't had time to put it all together. So, basically we're living like neanderthals. Take care everyone, and again, keep up the great work. You are all an inspiration.

Hi everyone! Great work all around.
My little update: I was feeling much better and thought I'd finish out cutting the final week just with less cardio and more incidental calories (condiments, etc.), but I'm just starting to feel scrawny. I was below 137 today and... I don't want to waste away. Any more, and I feel I'm playing into the 'less is more' 'be skinnier' mentality.
Karen, I really appreciated your reality check about bodyfat levels. I have no idea what mine is, but yeah... you're right.

Today I did bench, 100# 3x5 and 1x10, a bodybuilding triset, and 10x10 pushups (my own masochistic addition).

Need to cram some more into naptime so must run... take care, all!
Roz

Lib, congrats on your great news!!! You can use that as a motivator to power through AB. Yep, those glide disc mountain climbers--the hip flexors, the abs, the arms, the chest, they're ALL on fire with those!!! You will feel like a warrior doing AB. Another vote for furniture movers. My frisbee always stuck to the floor.

Tom, you are a good daddy-o for helping your son out. Move Max workout is no joke!!! He owes you a whole case load of beers for this one! Good luck and have fun!

Justine, MMA Boxing is a good workout for the days when you want to do something but not kill yourself! Very impressed with yesterday's HTS as well. Isn't this check-in great? A real motivator for me, too. Keeps me 'honest.' Any fun weekend plans?

Roz, aren't we lucky to have Karen? So smart. So insightful. Osteoporosis runs in my family so I'm super worried about it. My doc has explained that body fat produces estrogen, and estrogen protects the bones. Low body fat means less estrogen, which means less lovin' for the bones. (Also lack of menstruation and other stuff, which feeds into the vicious cycle of bone loss). You are so wise with your body, you'll strike that balance. If you want some extra delicious calories, you are welcome to come over to my house. I recently hit the jackpot with some amazing goodies which are keeping my energy levels high. :)

So, yeah, with all that energy I did PRS2 today. Justine, I think I'll do Thursday's Metabolic Live tomorrow, although I reserve the right to do a TB workout instead if the move strikes. Forgot to mention that yesterday I did XTrain Biceps Triceps.

Karen, good to hear from you!!! Is it a DIY renovation? I feel for you. Living like a cavewoman sounds awful. What I fear most about a home reno is losing my kitchen during construction. I would die!!!

Roz, totally agree about the not-too-skinny thing. Great bench press.

Lisa, thought you wouldn't be able to resist! That particular live looked great.

Tom, how's the diy workout going? Hope you're getting the post workout carbs in (liquid, of course).

Karen, I'd love your thoughts on RP. Is it very similar to other body building meal plans?

Yesterday was a (relatively) easy HTS. Today, the hardest. Both had squats, deads and upper body stuff. I managed 5x3 deads at 100kg. Ok, but I'd like to nudge that up a bit. Squats were all high rep low end stuff, so very, very light! Today took 90minutes. And RP reckon that's 'moderate' exercise!

Feeling very bloated from so many carbs- managed to gain a few pounds during my first week of the cut  . I'm not going to cut further until I can work out whether it's just water! Only I could manage to mess it up....

Hope you all had / are having a great weekend. Xxx

Hi everyone,
Thanks all for your support and sound wisdom. Y'all rock!
Justine, I LOVE your HTS program. You are absolutely killing it. Yeah, most of my days on RP are light day, believe it or not. Exception is high volume squats and/or deads. Or I'll go to moderate if I do lifting then more than a little cardio.

Lisa, great Live workout! I accept your offer to share your treats and will head to Idaho with only a spoon in my hand. :)

Can I just say... I am SO excited about my squat progress in past months. I just thought I was a hopelessly bad squatter and my # weren't moving, but today I did my sort of 'testing' set and I worked up to 210# x 6. And I had a kinda makeshift belt and didn't have my squat shoes. Then RDLs and walking lunges. Cramming in work before leaving for a week so I also did OHP, chins, and a BB triset.

I may do another (probably not huge) mass after I get back. Or a month after, depending on how I feel. I'd like to gain a little, but will take the opportunity to gain some muscle at the same time. I'd be happy to put on some size in my upper body. I'm pretty squarely a mesomorph, but I guess I feel stringy at this weight. Honestly, I'd take some more quad, too. :)

Lib, Karen, Tom, HI!!
See y'all soon, Roz

Justine, I always think of you on Mondays because of your marathon Monday HTS routines. I had a hard time getting myself in gear today and the thought of you pushing through got me moving! If you ever get Live again, I would recommend that Metabolic Mashup workout which really felt more like compound endurance weights than cardio. It's two days later and I still have major glute DOMs, especially in the outer Thutt/saddlebag area, which for me is always an impossible area to work well.

Roz, are we gonna have to change our hashtag 2016 squat 600# campaign??? #2016squat800#? I just can't even wrap my head around it! Way to work it, girl. I totally get the cram.it.all.in before vacation mentality. I'm the same way. Hopefully you'll be able to do some bulking from deliciousness during your getaway, nothing ridiculous of course, but I do think the situation merits some extra frozen yogurts, a delicious veggie panini, and whatnot. :)

Today I did GS CT. Probably go for a walk later.

Hi to Tom. Karen, Lib!

Top of Tuesday Commando's!! I had a great morning because I was able to go back to barbell bench! Got 12 sets of flat bench, 5 sets of incline and 3 sets of pushups to finish off chest. I did 2x20 cable crunches for abs. I was up 20# from my low on Halloween and I think it has really helped strength wise. Even though I haven't done barbell bench in awhile I worked up to 205# (this rep was more like a 2 board bench), but did 185x4 175x6x6 and 155x8x7x5 and on inclined did 135x8x7x5x5x5. On the pushups I did x15x15x14 and almost face-planted several reps!!! I am not deluded enough to think all the 20# is muscle, but I will take it ALL!!! I hope everyone in Ironland has a great Tuesday!

Well, HTS it was today. Lots of upper body stuff, including bench (4x3 @50kg), and very high rep rows (30 each side). Finished with 100 KB swings.

Lisa, I'm pretty tempted by Cathe live at the moment, since I'm trying to do a bit more cardio. Metabolic Mashup is the sort of thing which would nudge me into subscribing.

Tom, so glad to hear your back barbell benching. Good work. 205 is a heck of a weight.

Roz, I don't know how you managed the entire cut on a 'light' day macros. I live for my moderate allowances! 180g carbs- I actually struggle. But then down to 60g others days- that sucks. And I kinda cheated yesterday. Well, totally cheated tbh!!!

Karen, lib xxx

Hello Commandos! Back day today for me and just 2 excercises, lat pulldowns and deads. On lat pulldowns I went pretty light and did 6x10, but did bump it up 10# and all was well! On deads I ended going heavy cause it felt pretty good, 205x5 255x5 295x2 and I loaded a new pr, 320 and "uglied" it up!! I finished with 255x3. I weighed in at 186# this morning, the most I have weighed since sts!! I don't know whats happened, but I likeeee!! Still gotta shot at middle linebacker!!! Carry on Sistas!!
