Lifting like girls

Not working out today. My rear end is still fried. Definitely feeling it! Just not feeling like working out! Guess I could do something upper body. But no, I feel like reading. I worked out twice yesterday. I'll count one of them for today. I love this part about getting old. No pressure to perform. Just do what I want. Maybe I'll wear a purple hat tomorrow. Mmmm, probably not.
 
Karen, 2 in 1 day can DEFINITELY count and carry overs allowed! And you are right, we can do anything cause we can!
Today was leg day 2, and I did the same things ( gob squats, sumo squats, reverse lunges, db calf raises and single calf raises) but only 3 sets each instead of 4 and even shortened the reps on some sets. I am still a little sore but thought some "hair of the dog" might help. I am thinking of doing some core work tomorrow, like I did Thursday. If I do that it makes the program 7 days/ week, but doing a little ab work shouldn't be tiring and I am still resting the stressed bodyparts so I'm gonna try that. Abs get a little left out, but I do like hitting all upper body 3x/ week and lower 2x/week...we will see if it works.

Karen, yep, what Tom said--2 workouts on one day gives you a free coupon for the next day, without a doubt. Plus, if you were reading instead, you were exercising your brain. It's all good! I can't wait to try that Oh My Glutes Live. It looks great. Has the snow cleared up? We've had rain, which has assisted with the melting process. But, of course, we did get some random flakes today. Thankfully it's too warm to stick.

Tom! Hair of the dog!?!? Have you resorted to drinking during your leg day workouts? LOL. I think you can do core work on your "rest day." Nothing wrong with that. Just don't get crazy and do some bench work or pushups.

Crazy week. Glad it's Saturday. I did UB on Thursday (can't remember the title, yeah one of those weeks...); I did a Fitness Blender Cardio + Abs HiiT yesterday; I did Metabolic Burn Live today. A good mix of workouts for the week. I like it when that happens!

Have a great rest of your weekend, my friends. We need to plan a warm weather vacation at a hotel (with a great gym, obviously), bring our respective spouses, and have a real life Lifting Like Girls meeting. I need to meet you two in real life!
 
Karen, I'd be puking...geeze...HATE SNOW! Lisa, sounds like you've been hitting it, and yeah, that liftathon vacay sounds fun!
Today was abs and I did 3x20 cable crunches (added 10 lbs) alternated with alternate knee to chest planks x75 x75 x150 (added 60 reps), and called it a day. Really like this so far, Monday will start week 2, and if I make gains I am a "happy camper". Enjoy what's left, Monday looms!
 
Today was heavy day 2, 15 sets of bench (4 sets were warm up), and 16 sets of accessories. I bumped the bench up #5, and the first heavy set seemed great, the second was a grinder from he!!. I dropped 5# and on the next 2 I was about an inch above chest, being protective since no spotter, and they were easy, and the last I touched and it wasn't difficult? ...don't get it! I dropped #20 and did 3 sets of 3, dropped another #20 and did 3x7. My accessories were chins, skullcrushers, side lateral/ front raise, and db curls..4x7 on all these (I bumped db curls up #5 from last week). All the bench sets touched EXCEPT the 2 sets after I dropped #5 (was worried about a "face plant"). Tomorrow is legs, CANT WAIT, but it is raining here SO always possible to have a flooded basement??? (just kidding..LUV ME SOME LEGS!!) May your Monday be magnificent my friends!
 
This morning was a couple of Zuzka KB workouts. Each about 15 minutes long. I did two. She does a good job, and I enjoyed them. However, as a side note: with Zuzka, it's always a wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen. But I do like her. These two workouts were slow and pricise. No uncontrolled KB throwing, and I got a great workout!
Nice work Tom. Lisa the snow gets a big boooo, any snow your way?
 
Tom, are you guys getting power outages from the storms? Karen, we got a light snow dusting yesterday but thankfully it melted by about 3pm. Are you still covered in snow?

Great workouts you two. Tom, I am impressed by your obedience to your rotation. Is the bench ROM affecting your elbows or shoulders at all? Karen, Zuzka definitely knows her stuff but I wonder if there's a fabric shortage where she lives, lol! I don't like the added stress of worrying about the trainer "keeping it all together" during the workout!

Today was Oh My Glutes Live. Karen, like you said, DOMS for dayssssss from this one. I think it was Cathe's hardest LB Live to date.
 
Leg day "in the books". I did 12 sets of legs and 6 sets of calves. Started with db squats, 3x8, and. I am proud to say that they were deep, hammies resting on calves deep! Then 3x10 gob squats and 3x10 sumo squats and 3x8 reverse lunges. For calves, 3 sets of db calf raises and 3
sets of single leg calf raises. "Me thinks me thutt going to suffer"!! Rev lunges always cause pain and I could really feel it back there BEFORE I did them...ugh
Well, back to work for me today, but it is fun to have my Monday and my Friday back to back! Make today yours lifters!
 
Tom, you are making me laugh. Zuzka probably has lots of followers who just "observe." Hey, way to go in those A2G squats!

Today was Pumped Upper Body Live from a few weeks ago. Second time doing this one. It's tough but more doable than I remember. I think it's because my UB was fully rested this time.

Today was "chest light" and it calls for 4 sets of 7 at 150#. I raised it 5# from last week and surprisingly last week I did x7x7x7x6! (poor endurance). I, however, have NOT been going light on accessories. Even though they get hit 3x/week, it is only 3-4 sets at a time so I feel I need to make them count. Today's were pullovers 3x7 (50's), seated military BB press 120x5 115x5 105x6, ez bar curls 100# x8x8x8 and pushdowns 3x10 (I used 80# of plates but their is quite a bit of resistance on my unit so NO idea what that corresponds to!) I cannot tell from the program if accessories are supposed to follow the same pattern as bench with heavy medium and light days so I am "calling my own shots"! Today is my Friday.....yay! I pretty much just do extractions from 8-2:30, then exams at the end of the day. The other dentist is a woman and she does some extractions on days when I'm not there, but does most all of the dentures and fillings...and that works for me!

Today I wanted to do legs but still so so very sore from Monday's leg workout so compromised by doing Kickbox plus Heavy Weight Legs from Cathe's 4 day split series. My legs got worked but, thankfully, this workout is paced more slowly so I got to breathe between sets!

This morning was two more Zuzka Kettlebell workouts. These were great. Her KB workouts start out fairly easy, and gradually get more difficult as she introduces more moves. I'm hooked on these. Disc one is a KB history, and tutorial. Discs 2-4 have 4 workouts on each disc, easy to more difficult. Love these!
 
Ab day and it was good,,,,short but effective. Abs today consisted of a 3 exercise circuit, hanging knee raises x 8/ alt knee to chest (plank position) x 100/ cable crunches x 20 and did the circuit 3 time, It took about 20 minutes, but wow, the abba dabba's were burning. I raised the cable crunch weight and had to work at these, and the hanging stuff is always hard due to flexibility that registers as the "null set"! Today is supposed to be a rest day and it was...except for abs! Sounds like "all is well" in the commando universe...kettlebells, kickboxing and kids!! Do life right my friends!
