Good morning fellow inmates! How was your workout today?
Today was Day 2 for me: Plyo Cardio Circuits, for the first time. I hadn't even previewed it, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I've read repeatedly that the warm up is a workout in itself, so I did my own pre-warm up. I workout at 6am, and am quite stiff in the hips, hamstrings, and lower back first thing in the morning. I did a 22 min easy vinyasa yoga dvd to get myself moving. Then I plugged in Plyo Cardio Circuit.
The warm up started off the same as the Fit Test, so I thought I was doing well, until he took us through it 2 more times, going faster each time! LOL! My heart rate was up there and I was sweating buckets by the end of the mins, or whatever it was. Loved the stretch. I know people are complaining about how long the initial stretch is, but I love it. I love getting my hips ready for the range of motion needed to do deep plyo movements.
The first circuit was okay. I worked hard, but it was doable. I can't get my 3rd level speed up as high as Shaun, but I'm okay with that. My heartrate was up near 95%, and I was feeling good. Not sucking wind too bad.
The second circuit kicked...my....butt! My chest is *still* sore from STS Disc 13 on Sunday, so the push ups were brutal. For some of the reps I just held a plank, or I did 2/2 ct push ups. Round 1 of Circuit 2 was manageable. Round 2 required some breaks! Round 3 was solely about doing my best, and forgetting the rest! I also wasn't sure if we had a Circuit 3 in this workout or not. Thank heavens we didn't!
I'm good with all the moves done vertically. It's the horizontal stuff that requires work. I suppose having a sore chest and tired shoulders didn't help. But I did it! And I look forward to seeing how much I'll progress over the next 60 days!
My heart rate maxed out at 173bpm (95%), with 79% (144bpm) being the average. Calories burned were approximately 489. Not bad for 42 mins of exercise.
After PCC, I did triceps from STS Disc 13.
I feel good now. I know I can handle these workouts. They're providing me with the challenge I need to move to the next level of fitness. That's a good thing. I'm looking forward to tomorrow's workout!
Cheers!
Sandra
