Good Morning Warriors! :)

I have returned from the desert of overwork to rejoin the land of the living. ;) Still have a ridiculous 2 weeks of work to get through so I can go on vacation, but hopefully I will be able to keep up better this week.

I am a little behind on the rotation, still need to do legs and arms, but will catch up today and tomorrow and be back on track with all of you later in the week. I did manage to keep up with cardio and finally got a clear day yesterday to play some tennis. This morning I did HIS cardio.

Will have to catch up on the threads from last week, but it looks like everyone is doing well, except for some front teeth and that we are on for an undulating rotation to start the new year. woohoo!

Alright, off to work, will catch up later tonight. Have a good day everyone.

It did seem really long, but I rocked Disk 31 Back and Biceps today. I had new personal bests on all my exercises except for deadlifts, cause my lower back has maxed me out on those. It's hard to believe now that there was a time when I was convinced that I couldn't lift heavier than 15 lbs for things like chest presses and one arm rows when I'm not lifting 26 lbs and 33 lbs for those! I love how STS has just opened the horizons and sets no limits. Back when I was doing the FIRM just the general tone of them made it seem like you could never lift heavier than they were lifting. With Cathe everything is open ended for lifting.

Glad you got some tennis in MJ. Do you only play outside? Good luck getting all your work done. Back when I was working our busiest time of year was always December/January, so we were rarely allowed to even take an extra day off around the holidays. So, nice when you can be off and fully enjoy them.

Ok guys, I was going over my list of workouts for the undulating rotations, checking them twice and all that and it suddenly dawned on me that there really aren't two potential rotations there are four! Yes, four. So, I'm going to list them and please tell me your preference so I'll know how many to create.

upper body, upper body, plyo legs

upper body, upper body, squat rack legs

upper body, plyo legs, upper body

upper body, squat rack legs, upper body

Happy Monday!

Drill Max for me today--cardio only. Always a fun one for me. I'm hoping this week to stay on track & not have any unexpected mid-week rest days! I'd like to save them for the weekend (or at least Sunday). I plan to do Chest, shoulders & triceps tomorrow.

MJ, Welcome back to the land of the living! I hope the next 2 wks fly by quickly so you'll get to enjoy vacation.

Cathy, I started out with the Firm too. I pretty much did nothing but that or Tracie Long videos for 10 years until I converted over to Cathe about 1.5 years ago. It's funny, I was thinking the same thing--how that I never considered lifting more than 15-20lbs at the most with the Firm. I never imagined I would be lifting way more than that. I'm so glad I finally came over to Cathe!

With the undulating rotation, I like upper body--legs--upper body. I can go either way with plyo legs versus the squat rack legs. Again, thanks for figuring all this out!

Heather & Janis, hope your week is starting out well!

Until Tomorrow,
Tara

Hello Everyone!

Today I did my first P90x chest/back workout and I followed it up with my first Insanity workout, Plyo cardio circuits. I loved both. Heather, I think your dh will love it.

Cathy either rotation is fine with me, because I'll be doing the other one regardless! (did that make sense?) Thank you so much for wrapping your mind around this puzzle for us!

Tara - I think drill max is fun too - which is what is appealing about Insanity - all drills. :D

I only 'just' found Cathe a little less than a year ago...via STS. Can you believe it! As a matter of fact, one year ago today I was catapulted off (a.k.a. bucked off) of a 1200 pound, 16 hand quarter horse. I landed on my right cheek bone. What an ordeal it was....an emergency room visit, then a lights and siren ambulance ride to another hospital for a CAT scan, ride back, excruciating pain, and a month long recovery from a concussion... all of which ultimately lead me here and to once and for all get fit - and stay fit.

I am happy I finally found what works for me!

:D

Oh, tomorrow is running and p90x shoulders& arms. :)

This morning I did Step Blast. I love combo 3. :D That blast in the second round of the challenge always gets me and I have to gasp my way through the step the third time through, but I did it. My back is feeling a bit better today and my calf did alright during the step. Good thing since I have plyo legs tomorrow.

Janis I'm glad you enjoyed P90x and Insanity. BTW did you do KPC and I missed how you liked it?

I put one rotation in the workout manager yesterday and I'll do a different one today. It actually takes me barely 10 minutes to do one and if you need to adjust something it shouldn't take you long. I know that within a calendar month you can just drag workouts around the calendar if you need them on a different day.

Hey Guys

I haven't gone awall just trying to stay ahead of work. I did Chest and Back yesterday I can't believe that we're at the second last week... sorry Tara... It seems like last week we all said that we'd meet here and try and do this! Today I did CC4. I have a bit of a head cold so I did not want to over do it. I was feeling like I hadn't gone as hard as I could have yesterday with Chest and back and I had two little helpers show up for the last round, but today I am really feeling it in my chest!

Cathy I will put your rotation into my workout calendar! We can always make changes individually if we need to so you don't have to do all the extra work. Thanks for doing this though!

Janis- - I am so excited to do Insanity!!! Are you dying? Is it as bad as they say? Okay when I first ready your accident I thought that you meant you landed on your butt cheek... but you landed on your face? OH my, my BIL is a behavioural therapist for people with head injuries! You are lucky that all is well and turned out well. So glad you found Cathe too!

Tara and MJ - hope you are still swimming (keeping your heads above water)! and you got your workouts in!

Plyo Legs tomorrow? Janis can you do plyo legs after Insanity today?
Talk to you tomorrow!
Heather

Geez Janis I read your post last night and totally forgot I was going to respond this morning! Major YIKES on your accident. Do you ride much? I like horses just fine when they are standing on one side of a fence and me on the other. They are gorgeous animals. Very glad that you are ok from some a nasty fall.

I'll put in one more rotation, so there will be two to choose from and then you may just have to play with the 4 leg workouts from Meso 3.

Good Afternoon Wonderful Warrior Women,

It's lunch time here and I just inhaled my lunch...now I am drinking some tea and waiting for the brain/stomach signals to syncronize. In other words, I am still hungry! But I think it will pass.

I am definitely on for Plyo Wednesday.

This is how I scheduled my workouts, I am doing the upper body and abs of p90x, Cathe plyo and squat rack for legs, running 3x a week, and plugging in Insanity where it fits, 3-4x a week. I am not going to attempt an Insanity on the same day as a plyo - but here's a testament to how prepared Cathe has made me in less than year - I am not sore at all from my first Insanity workout....and I kept up with all the participants. Same goes for p90x,STS not only prepared me physically, it also schooled me, I'd be lost otherwise. I do expect DOMS though from p90x, as a matter of fact they're already starting to bite.:D

Thank you, Heather and Cathy, for your kind words regarding my horseback accident. On one hand it feels like it was a long time ago - a different lifetime even, but on the other hand the last year went by so fast. A koan.

I haven't been back to the horse facility, nor have I been on a horse. Right after my accident that actress died from a fall on the ski slope, Natasha Richardson. She was the same age as me at the time, her accident convinced me I needed to put the needs of my family first. Even with a helmet, which I wasn't wearing, there are no guarantees with horseback riding. Everywhere I went after the accident horse people told me the same thing, it's not if it will happen again, it's when.

Yeah - the right cheek bone - my whole face was a mess. I was pretty frightful for a few weeks. The only damage is a teeny tiny chip to a lower front tooth, and a crack in my front tooth - the dentist said it is under the enamel and there is no indication it will chip off, and no reason for it to do so. My right cheek seems a little more angular - sharper- than my left, which looks soft and round. So I look a little like a Picasso painting in my asymmetry.

I am indeed going back for more food, I am hungry! My GWF says I have already burned 1400k today, that's good - as the rest of the day will be spent sitting on my bum in the car - driving, waiting, driving, you girls know the drill. :D

Cathy - yes - I bought and used KPC and really loved it! Thanks for your feedback!

Alright -it's food, shower, car - in that order...

ciao

Good Morning Warriors! :)

Yes I am keeping my head above water and keeping up with the workouts. Its plyo Wednesday of course. ;) Will do it tonight after work since I have to get out of here early this morning. Thanks for the "get through work vibes", I need them. lol

Cathy - I add my thanks to your work in putting our rotations together for January. I appreciate it. As for tennis, I only play outside as I am a public court player and cannot, as of yet anyway, justify the cost of joining one of the clubs that may have indoor facilities. Probably wouldnt anyway, not exactly my thing. There are groups and clubs that are associated with the public courts system so someday I may join one of those. Besides, living in Florida luckily allows for plenty of good days for tennis.

Janis - That is quite the story with your accident. I am very glad that you recovered well and are doing so much more with yourself since then. By the way, the asymmetry in Picasso's paintings are what make them stunningly beautiful and unique to look at. ;)

Heather - I hope you make it through your cold and that it stays mild.

Tara - Hope you are doing well this week.

Alright, time to get ready for work. Talk to you all later. Enjoy plyo Wednesday!

Good morning lovely ladies! I survived another round of plyo legs. I'm just really glad there's no one in my basement to laugh at my one legged squat thrusts. ;) They have to be pretty amusing to watch.

I actually knitted myself a pair of leg warmers with the thought that keeping my calf extra warm when I worked out would help my calf.

MJ my sister lives near Tampa, so I get to hear lots about the weather in Florida. The boys and I went down a couple years ago for a week in March and really enjoyed it. Too bad it's not in the budget every year.

Unlike FL, we have nasty weather coming in tonight. My oldest has basketball practice starting at 7:30 and the weather advisory starts at 7:00. They canceled school (why I really don't know) but it's club ball and they don't practice at the school, so they might still hold practice.

Janis you could compare notes with my youngest. His left cheekbone is now slightly different than the right from where he got hit with the baseball last summer. He does have a slight scar, too. We never took him in, but I'm pretty sure the cheekbone was broken. Not anything they could have done for it anyway.

Have a great day!

Good Morning Warriors

Man the next two weeks are going to be insane! My cold is bordering on getting worse but I did Plyo legs this morning anyways... tomorrow my be a forced rest day. It was a little like doing the exercises with a fish bowl of water on my head. I had to stop to get my breath a couple times. But I do feel better now especially for doing it! Yeah those one legged squat thrusts are pretty sad looking on a good day but today I would not have wanted to see myself in a mirror!

Gotta run this morning but I hope you all have a good day!
Heather

Happy Warrior -Plyo-Wednesday!

I did my round of plyo and followed it up with yogaX (p90x) dvd.

The plyo workout left me soaked in sweat. The one legged squat thrusts were something else! It also revealed a surprising (to me) muscle weakness on my right side!

MJ - It's great to hear from you and to know you are fighting the good fight! Way to go girl!! Thank you for the sweet comment about Picasso's asymmetry being beautiful. I will definitely remember that when I start obsessing about the two sides of my face. :)

Cathy - the leg warmer idea is fantastic! I may have to do the same thing, except I think I'll find some old stretched out soccer socks to cut up.

Heather - I loved the fish bowl description of your head cold congestion. So sorry you are sick. May you bounce right back. How is your son? BTW - I went back and edited my post from earlier in the week (12/7) - somehow it became scrambled up during posting. I meant to say that I think your DH will love Insanity. The pure athleticism, straight forward, no equipment, all out cardio is a great workout and a great challenge. Mind you I have only tried one dvd, :D , but I think you and he will enjoy it.

Tara - how's it going? How was your chest shoulders tricep workout?

:D Now I am off to eat (no surprises there) and make gingerbread for gingerbread houses. I want to bake it today and let it cure for a couple of days before construction on the weekend.

Tomorrow is running and later in the day Insanity.

Hey Everyone...

Janis, I just read your post.... I was really wondering what you had meant in the other post but did not want to offend you. I had the feeling that was the just but had gotten garbled somehow!

LOL! yeah - you probably thought I was a wee-bit brain damaged since what followed was a description of my horseback riding accident!

It twasn't me! I swear! LOL It didn't look like that when I hit the post button! :D

(Oh and you won't offend me if you ask, "whaddya mean there girl? you're speaking gibberish!")

Greetings Warriors from the blustery north country. :) This morning I did a half an hour of Shovel Max and may be doing another round later today courtesy of Mother Nature who is bringing us more snowing and blowing. And for an added fun touch it's 10 degrees with 40 mph wind gusts.

Heather are you feeling better today?

Janis I'm glad you liked KPC it's a fun workout.

MJ my sister sent me a message yesterday telling me all about the mosquitos that were biting her to balance out my snow woes. So how much did you enjoy those one legged squat thrusts last night. ;)

Tara how are you doing?

Hi One and All Warrior Women

Brrr - Cathy - how north are you? I lived in Milwaukee for 6 or so years, I remember shovelmax quite well! The Arctic blasts are what did me in!

It's cold here too, but no precipitation, thankfully, to wrestle with.

I ran a little over 40 min, 4 miles today. I decided it was not a day to do anything difficult (TOM) so I did a Jessica Sherwood Bootcamp Ballet dvd. Loved it. I followed that up with some much needed add'l stretching.

Then I took a hot bath, and now I am ready for a nap. Talk about mellow mellow mellow.

Heather, how are you feeling?

Waving hello to Tara and MJ.

:D

Janis I'm in MI about halfway between Lansing and Battle Creek in the boonies. :D Never did have to shovel again today because we didn't get hardly any more snow and the blowing was minimal. They're saying another 1-3" tonight with blowing, but hopefully they'll be just as wrong.

So did you take a nap?

Hey Everyone
Today was a rest day...mostly because I have too much work to do and I went on a school trip with my ds. It was really fun but we were outside for part of the day and we are getting some of the storm. I am feeling better not really myself yet... ! I live in Southern Ontario in the snowbelt. Lots of roads closed around us today but remarkably we didn't get much here. I love the "ShovelMax"!!! We are out in the country now so we actually have a tractor and blower (thank goodness because it's a long driveway)... or we would never go anywhere!

Janis - gotta love TOM! sometimes it really affects my workouts and others I find no difference! Bootcamp Ballet sounds like an interesting combo!

Cathy - Glad to hear that you didn't get too buried! Hopefully your arms will be ready for Shoulders, Biceps and Tri's... if you going to do that tomorrow.

MJ and Tara - Hope all is well.

I had better get back at it. I have a big meeting tomorrow that I have to make a good impression at tomorrow so I had better get back at the research. I still plan on doing STS in the morning and but that will probably be all.
Cheers
Heather

Hey Warriors

Just a quick note this morning. I got up and did Disc 33 Shoulders, Biceps and Tri's. Mostly I was right on target but those triceps I over estimated for the first on and then I was skunked for the rest. It was funny because I could not feel my tricep burning but it would not move!
Anyways, gotta go!
Hope today goes well for everyone!
Cheers
Heather
