"Legs & Glutes" Video - Very Disappointed

Elln

Cathlete
I am a new follower of Cathe's exercise videos, specifically, her newer DVDs (1) Shoulders/Back/Arms and (2) Chest/Triceps - they are truly excellent. However, I just purchase the "Legs & Glutes" video and to my surprise, I am terribly disappointed. The "background music" is so overpowering that you can't even hear Cathe speak. I can't believe how this video could have been marketed!

I opted for this video over the new Legs DVD because I am not interested in stability ball exercises and the new Legs DVD incorporates it into the program.

Anyway, if anyone is thinking about purchasing this video, save yourself $30.00 - try Muscle Max OR Strong Legs & Abs.

Truly disappointed!

WOW,
I am suprised to hear that. I love this DVD and have never had a problem with the music being too loud. That is too bad you are disappointed. Are you also disappointed with the workout itself or just the sound quality. I found this one really slimmed down my lower body significantly. Maybe SNM will let you return it for something else.:)

I just watched it for the first time - I will try it tonight - but what I like about the 2 newer DVDs is that Cathe explains alot of things that she is doing while she is doing them. Whereas in the L&G, I can't even hear a word she is saying - so I am doing this visually instead of really understanding what and why I am doing something. And, the music is totally distracting. So......

RE:

The Legs and Glutes DVD has a music option.
You may have on "Music Louder". Once you hit Play, you get the choice of having the music louder, normal mix, or music off.
I usually choose Music off, since the songs drive me bonkers.
The workout itself and KPC are excellent.

That sounds like a bad cut. I would see if SNM will exchange it. I've never had that problem with L&G. I will say that on my SJ&P video tape the color is so intense as to be almost blurred, and I know it's a bad cut. It's not so bad that I can't do the workout, but yours sounds like the quality problems are distracting and overpowering.

The Legs & Glutes is in VHS format not DVD - so I will check to see if this option exists on my VHS.

RE:

I do not have the stated sound issues with my L&G DVD. Perhaps you got a bad copy. Did you buy it from SNM ? The customer service people at SNM are very helpful.

RE:

I've noticed that some of my Cathe VHS tapes have pretty loud music - Step Blast is one. I can't remember if Legs and Glutes is one or not. I kind of like it on SB, because if I can't hear Cathe as well, it makes me memorize the routine better.

I really like the L&G routine and always have fun when I do it. Those explosive lunges just kill me!

RE:

You must have gotten a bad video! I've never had a problem with mine. You might want to get them to send you another. He!! sometimes I love listening to the music. It just motivates me that much more! Especially when I get frustrated and want to stop! I'm sorry you aren't having a good experience with a wonderful leg tape.

Heck I have done the workout so much that I don't need to hear Cathe!

No, it doesn't exist on the VHS format.

Maybe the VHS was made with the "music louder" volume rather than the regular volume?

I actually use all the Body Blast workouts with "music louder" on .

RE:

I like listening to music when I exercise as well, however, this is way too distracting! I did e-mail customer service - we'll see if they respond.

I wonder if this is a reason that Collagevideo doesn't carry alot of Cathe's VHS videos - too many complaints!

RE:

I have always experienced great customer service with Cathe. I know I bought a dvd that was scratched up and they sent me another one before I could send the other back. I was impressed!

Hope everything goes well!

Hi Ellen,

So sorry that you are disappointed. I really like the Legs & Glutes workout. I only add this because it was the one workout that I wasn't looking forward to when the set came out.

Just another take on this. Your video/DVD may not be defective. The Body Blast Series music was loud, not to mention there was a music louder option (if you have the DVD, you might want to check your sound option). I think that the only workout on that set that wasn't as loud, was Push Pull. Most people really liked the loud music. I do remember some people saying that the cueing was hard for them to hear. But most people liked the loud music and got a good pump from it.

On the flip side, you seem to like the sound level of the Hardcore series. There were a lot of complaints about the sound level on this series. I did not have a problem with my set. What I noticed was that Cathe's voice was louder (kinda like her mic was closer or set more sensatively). If you turn up the music you also turn up Cathe's voice.

I bet if you took a poll between the two, most people would opt for the sound level on the Body Blast series.

You may want to stick with the Hardcores,

RE:

Hmmm...seeing that you liked the music level on the Hardcores (which, for many people, is not loud enough), maybe it has something to do with your speaker set up? Maybe the music is coming over louder for you than for others? Otherwise, maybe you just have a preference for lower music, or somehow don't distinguish Cathe's voice as well as others can?

RE:

Too many complaints??? I'm sorry you feel this way about Cathe's products. I've purchased tons over the past year and have never had a single complaint, except just recently - I bought the Pyramid Upper and Lower Body DVD, which started to crack less than a month after I bought it. I contacted Cathe's support, and they sent me a new one within days, no questions asked. And that wasn't even an official "I'm unhappy" sort of complaint - all I did was to describe the situation and ask about their policy.
