Leg work

Hi Cathe--I hope you are relaxing a-little after that grueling schedule--filming. I die just thinking about it! Anyway, I wanted to ask you a question about weight training the legs. I really like the appearance of some body builders legs--where the thigh sweeps in at the knee making the knee joint look small and then the calve looks muscular--cut as well. I was wondering is it heavy weight work that produces these results-how many reps? Thanks so much for the great videos you produce--I'm waiting for the eight pack to arrive---any day??!!!! Ranae

Hi Ranae!

Yes, I'm finally rested. Thanks for asking.

Genetics play a big role in calf development as well as the tear drop muscles over the knee area. But yes, heavy weight lifting is usually what is required to strongly change the shape of a muscle(there is no definite answer for the amount of reps).

I'm not sure if the muscle that you are referring to is the one right above the knee cap on the inner side(which is one of the four muscles that make up the quadriceps----I'll spare you the long technical name of it

)but if it is, the leg extension machine does a great job shaping this muscle. If you were to use the leg extention machine, don't go TOO heavy since this can place a lot of stress on the knee.

Hope this helps!
