Leg conditioning drills from Kick Max

I can really see and feel progress with these. I never knew you were supposed to bring your knee up before a side kick, now that I am learning the proper way to throw the kick, the kick itself looks and feels better when I throw it.

I need work with my side and roundhouse kicks, simply because of the pivots involved, but through these drills, I know I'll get there eventually.

I'm learning that flexibility takes time, and I can't rush it, so this tape is one I'll be using for a good long while!

I tried these drills once and they were so hard, and I was so sore the next day I have never gone back. Maybe I should give them another try...

I think the leg drills are the best thing about Kick Max. I can't do lower body weights right now, so I'm using the drills to help keep my legs conditioned.

Anybody ever try them with ankle weights? }( }( I did, quite a while back. Ouch.

I am certainly no Superwoman or anything, but these drills never really did anything for me...however, the Leg Blast from Butts and Guts had me screaming and using very unsavory language}(
My legs are strong, very strong, so it takes alot to make them scream!:)

Hi Jerry:

Years ago when I tought kickboxing we were instructed to perform a Roundhouse as follows:

Pointed toe, heel tucked in tight to your glute, knee as high as it will go (comfortably) and in line with you body (knee back, not forward at all) and when you bring the top of your foot around think of it as a WHIPPING action and pull it back to your glute; the strike is with the top of your foot. Practice while holding a chair and whip the lower leg out and in a few times before lowering it. Nice slow and controlled. Once you get that motion down you'll definatley feel it. Take your time, as your strength increases the kick can be performed faster with good form.
Hope that helps, I know it sure helped me feel it and perform the kick correctly.
