learning to take in the compliments

Cathlete
I started doing Cathe dvds after having my second baby, Christopher. I weighed 206 pounds at the time. I took a leave from work to stay home with him for the year. I worked out 6 days a week alternating between Cathe and running, and then when I hit a plateau, I put my running shoes away for a while and started to do BM2 cardio blast in the rotation. Well, I know I have made progress and I know I lost 40 pounds. I know I am a size 8-10 now, and still I am so focused on getting the last 10 off, I just guess I didn't realize how good I look now, if that makes sense. Maybe because we look at ourselves everyday in the mirror, we don't see how different we look?Anyway, went to work this week because my leave is coming to an end, and everyone, EVERYONE, from custodians to other teachers to secretaries complimented me on my weightloss. Many said I looked thinner than before I had children. Here I am thinking I need to drop another 10 pounds (I am 5' 9, and would like to get a little lower BMI) and that I still have a pooch belly (firming up but still got a little pooch at the bottom) and everyone is complimenting me. I got complimented on my arms having definition, my butt being so small, lol, how I stand taller now, everything. All I kept thinking about was Cathe and you guys. I never thought I would get to this place in my life where I am living healthy in what I eat and staying dedicated and motivated to workout everyday. You guys with your advice and encouragement, Cathe with her motivation and awesome workouts, have kept me on track for over a year! Thanks! Now I am going to figure out which dvd to get next with tha facebook discount!

Congrats on the progress!!!! I understand where you are coming from, after having lost quite a bit of wt myself, I still see the old me in my head, and when I get a good look at myself in the mirror and see the new me, it can be a bit odd. Especially when people compliment you. It can toss your head for a loop. The mind catches up much slower than the body. Odd, isn't it. I've actually read articles about it. If it helps, we aren't the only crazy ones :D

Congrats on all your hard work!! That is awesome :D I've been there too and I agree that we get so caught up in our goals (not necessarily a bad thing) that we sometimes don't really see the changes and celebrate each small success. I've found that taking monthly pictures along the way really helps see the changes. Looking objectively at a photo is so different than looking in the mirror. Kudos to you!

Thanks guys. I am glad I am not the only one who is so goal-focused that I sometimes forget how far I've come. I have to say besides the compliments and the clothes feeling better, the best part of being fit is keeping up with my boys. When we went to Sesame Place this summer, I was climbing the nets and running around with my four-year-old and 1-2 years ago, that just would not have been possible. I can still pick up my 4-year-old and carry him around, no problem. there have been times I have to carry both boys, and I do it without a struggle. Again thanks to everyone here and Cathe for keeping me so focused and motivated.
