Lean Legs & Abs

I gave this one a spin this morning before heading to work. Because I've had some muscle strain in my serratus, I did the PM w/everything but core. All you need for this workout is 8lb dumbbells, a plate (I used a ten lb'er), chair, mat, and firewalker band. The warmup was good and went fast. Loved the new hip opener moves at the end of it. Then into standing moves w/the 8lbers -- cardio movements are added in this section---and nothing was complex. Moved pretty quickly. The clip Cathe released gives you a good idea of what to expect, i.e., squat presses, lunges, jumping sumos (loved that one), etc. I think the chair/firewalker band section was next. I loved the quad work w/the chair & the weights---easy to do but you really feel it. I might amp up to a 10lb dumbbell next time. Then a speedskater firewalker segment (lateral and diagonal). It's a mistake to use your blue FW band the first time you do these, just in case your tempted. :p Floor/mat work was next, consisting of side/quad leg lifts w/the band. Then the barre segment--I give Cathe an A+++ for this one. I LOVED it. Works your quads beautifully, plus your calves. Lots of high & tights but w/variations.

Because this was my first time, I was more concerned w/keeping up, getting the moves down, than really focusing on firing my muscles (I have lazy right leg/glutes, so I really have to make sure my back isn't doing the work). I wasn't hurting too much during the workout but a couple hours later, I'm starting to feel the onset of some DOMS.

This one was excellent. It moved quickly, the moves were fun, the music was great, and of course, Cathe was fantastic, as was the crew. I have to say, that Marlo can squat really low!! Impressive.

Thanks for the great review! Sounds like I'm gonna love this one too - it has everything I like. Thanks for the warning - I don't think I'll try the blue band just yet.

I just got done with this too but did the extreme pm with abs. I agree that you don't feel to bad during except for me, with the floor work with the pink band. I almost grabbed my green one and good thing I didn't. The first side isn't so bad but when you switch it to the next, I fatigued pretty fast. This is one where I'm going to do the other side first next time. The abs where good and challenging, you only need one 8lb weight. I can't wait to try great glutes in a few days.

I have been interested in this one but have been waiting for reviews. For those who have done this workout, is this front quad heavy? Or does she work the inner and outer thigh muscles equally as well? I tend to bulk up in my legs and I don't like overworking my quads. In some of the clips I've seen, it seems like there quite a bit of quad work. Given that I've only seen clips, I was wondering how well all leg muscles are worked.

Thanks in advance!

You only use 8lbs dumbbells in this workout or no weight at all. I too bulk up easy in the legs so I don't always like to do heavy all the time, so this is a nice change. And yes, your inner and outer thighs will burn and for those you use pink firewalker band or nothing. I really enjoyed this one but you do get your heartrate up in the begining with leg compound work.

This is the one I'm most looking forward to (I'm in the UK, so have a wait :( ) Love the idea of a hip -opener in the warm up. Thank you for the review - it's made up my mind to try this first!!
