Late night eating....

Hi all,

Just wanted to find out how many of you eat after 8:00 p.m.
I have heard a lot about not eating late at night to loss fat.

I work out first thing in the morning, around 7:30 - 8:00, (considering how early some of you girls work out, I guess it's not first thing in the morning :))
I have dinner at 7:00p.m., which is usually salad, protein and maybe a carb-I tend to eat most carbs during the day.
Then at 8:00p.m. I'll have yogurt, then at 9:00p.m. a glass of milk.

Do you have a cut-off at night when you stopp eating?

Usually I don't eat after 8:00. Dinner is most of the time done by 7:30. I did end up eating Chinese take-out at 9:00p.m. a couple weeks ago, but that's just because the restaurant go the order wrong twice and I had to keep going back.

Oh! And last night I had a brownie at 11:30, right before I went to bed. I had made them for my daughter to take to school and I wanted to make sure I had at least one of them. :)

I don't think I have a set "cut-off" time where I absolutely won't eat. I'm just not hungry after dinner. If I was REALLY hungry, I might have a little something.
 
I am probably the odd one. But I think the body needs fuel at night. We work our muscles during the day and then starve them while we sleep. I follow BFL and I eat my last meal about 5-10 minutes before I go to bed. I think it is more of a matter of what you eat, how much you eat overall, etc. I eat six small meals a day about every 2-3 hours.

I exercise in the evenings and usually want a small snack when I am done so I will generally eat a little something between 8 and 9pm for the last time. I try to keep it healthy but it doesn't always work.:p

I definately avoid eating dinner late since it tends to be my biggest meal of the day....I avoid having dinner after 6:30...and the earlier the better for me!

I won't starve myself if I really feel hungry and it's late at night...I just try not to eat total garbage and try only eating a small amount if it's late.

It's my biggest downfall. I'm so busy all day sometimes I actually forget to eat, but when I'm at home reading or watching TV it seems like I'm always shoving food down my throat.
 
I am a late night eater too.

I usually do not have dinner until 7:00 ,7:30 or sometimes 8:00PM.
I also end up having a snack before going to bed. It varies, sometimes FF ice cream, or low-ft peiunut butter, or if i happen to have a chcolate craving, i go for it. i know there is a lot of controversy with this.
Whatevr works for you. I also read many times that in reality, the body does not know if you are eting at 11:00 AM or 11:00 PM, a calorie is a calore, is a calorie. What matters in the end is if you have burned some calories with cardio and done it in a way that you speed your metabolism.
I have always been a late night eater and unfortunetly a late night snaker, but I balance it out, if I can.

I eat real late also. I get up at 4:30 am to workout and can't get to sleep anytime earlier than 11pm. I like to save a little treat for myself after the kids go to bed at 8pm. I will have a nightly bowl of popcorn around 9 and then around 10:30 or 10:45 I have either yogurt or pudding with ff cool whip....EVERY night...and I've been losing weight steadily for weeks now. Calories is calories out.

Sounds like we have similar eating habits...I actually have a weekend night when i just have snacks(LOW FAT VERSIONS OF COURSE):>)
I have not given up my baking either. I just make whatever i bake low fat by using appelsauce instead of theoil or fat free sour cream or cream chees and then egg substitutes and I alwasy get compliments on them. You do not have to give up living to be fit. You just have to make wise choices and keep on doing Cathe!

I eat whenever I am hungry. I try to eat healthy, but believe in everything in moderation. I do have chocolate every day.. I do not have a cut off time.

I read that Oprah and Bob Greene say that not eating after 7pm will help you lose weight.. I think it depends on how many calories you have already eaten that day and it is also a way to cut calories if you stop eating earlier.

i eat a snack between 8 and 9... and it's usually the 94% fat free, no-sugar added ice cream!

i don't buy into the hype that you shouldn't eat after a certain time.. what it more important, IMO, is the number of calories TOTAL that day you've eaten (along with the number you've used up!)

on workdays i get up at 4:30 and i'm exercising my 5... i don't have time to eat before my workout!

i go to bed, normally around 9:30.. but it can be anywhere from 9 to 10!
 
I, too, have heard Bob Greene and Oprah say that. I followed the "don't eat A THING" 2-3 hours before bedtime and it seemed to help aid in my weight loss efforts. I have been at my goal weight for a few years and haven't followed the rule for quite some time. I always eat a Zone bar just before bed.
