last 5lbs to go but won't go...STUCK!

I did get to my goal weight a while back at 107 but now am up to 112. Since I was at 107, I joined a gym and increased my weight lifting, so I know it's muscle that I've gained and not fat. However, I'd like to lose 5lbs and for the last few months, the scale hasn't moved. I do pilates, strength training, and up until recently ran on my treadmil. However, my hip has been bothering me therefore, running isn't an option anymore. I've looked into step aerobics and have looked at Cathe's Jump & Pump and step DVD which includes the step, abs, and weight training. Do you think this will make my scale move or is there something else that may work better? I eat right and avoid high fat and high sodium foods! Thanks for all your advice!:D

When was the last time you changed your weight lifting routine? Try shaking things up a little by changing the exercises you are doing & the number of reps you are doing.

You might also try riding a stationary bike if you are still a gym member.

Hope that helps.

Hi Littlekit,

Try changing up your nutrition a little, and I don't mean reducing calories just the type of calories your consuming (i.e, add a little more protein to each meal and reduce the amount of carbs or the type of carbs your eating at each meal)and keep drinking that water!

You can also try adding more leafy green vegetables if your not already doing so. Along with changing up either your weight routine and/or adding a new cardio activity to shock your system, this should work!

Good luck!!!:)

I', with Deborah and Heidi. Tweak your exercise program and your diet. Throw in a little circuit training and eat cleanly. I always find boosting my fiber intake really helps me eat well. It's filling. I tend to think in terms of eating thrree meals and two snacks but I really eat 5 small meals a day and it's very effective. Good luck!

Hi Littlektgirl! Ditto to what others have said. Change will always help fight through a plateau (sticking point). Depending on the extent of your hip aggrivation, Step, Jump, and Pump will be great if you can do (or even modify)some hi-impact aerobics. Also, if you have spinning classes at your gym you will also break through your plateau. Good Luck!

Littlektgirl, I have had a difficult time with PF and my feet,a nd the cardio in Cardio and Weights has been a wonderful. I found it really simple to modify but intense enough to give a terrific workout. You might consider it as well. And boy, I should have proofread my first post! :)
