KPC/SJP or new series?

I've been "lurking" here for a while enjoying and learning from the forums.

Love: Talking back to Cathe - I tell her "no thanks, you go ahead" or "No! Tiny Devil Woman!" ;-) Also, folks who preview their new workouts while eating M&M's or Cheeto's. :) :)

Here's my question: I've been an intermediate exerciser for too long and want to push up my strength and endurance while pushing down those last stubborn 15lbs.

I own on VHS - Step Works, All Step, Rhythmic Step, Boot Camp and Muscle Endurance. On DVD I have IMAX2/CW (just picked these up and haven't done them yet), and Bodyblast Timesaver.

I'm trying to boost my cardio for the time being while also trying to save my newly Rice Crispy knees from overwork. I absolutely love the SJP and KPC segments on the Timesaver.

So, I'd appreciate anyones opinion on whether I should invest in those DVD's separately, or if I should look for something in the new series. I do have my eye on Low Impact Circuit.

Sorry to be so long on my first post, I'm just excited to be here!

Hi story. Welcome to the forums. I would get the Step Blast/Step, Jump & Pump DVD. This is at the top of my list for favorite cardio. I love the music and choreography on this DVD. I wasn't that crazy about Low Impact Circuit. Found the choreography kind of boring (you have to understand I'm a choreography hound and love complex choreography.) Step Blast rates as one of Cathe's more complex cardio so if you want something a little more athletic, I would go with Low Impact Circuit. I also love Step, Jump & Pump which also has a great abs segment although LIC abs are pretty good too (especially the banana holds.) SB/SJP also has a number of premixes which are great. It has 23 premixes compared with only 6 on Low Impact Circuit so it gives you lots more options. Step Blast will definitely boost your endurance. The Blast Challenge is great.

Wellcome! I confess to being one of the M&M eater's but would like to break that habit! Anyway, if you get the DVD's you will actually be getting four workouts with multiple premix options on two DVD's. Since you want to focus on cardio you may want to get SJP/SB (circiut, steady step cardio with short blast segment at the end, premixes for each workout as well as incorporating the two workouts...love the cardio circuit premix where Cathe alternates step from SB with hi/lo from SJP) and on KPC you will get L&G a nice lower body workout...again, great premixes. You MAY want to get one split weight workout (I would suggest PLB/PUB) OR one total body weight workout that will allow you to go quite heavy such as Muscle Max. Enjoy!

I would go with Drill Max personally. The premix workouts are terrific and can help "ease" you into the whole workout if need be.
It is a great total body workout and the cardio factor never lets up. Some of the moves are higher impact, but even with a bad hip ( I simply modify some of the moves that hurt me) and I get a great workout.
LIC is okay too, but I like DrillMax alot better.:)

Just my humble opinion is all! Have fun!

Another Vote for Step Jump & Pump.... this is my favorite Cathe's cardio....

Legs& Glutes is awesome too.... great music... and you get really good pre-mixes with KPC.

Another favorite is body max 2... awesome workout and great music... Drill Max is a favorite as well.... you can't go wrong with these ones...

I did the same thing you did. I wasn't intending to get the Body Blast series and only got the time saver.... I loved the time saver SOOOO much, that ended up getting the whole body blast series.... I love it so much :)

Wow! Thanks so much everyone for all your excellent input! Sounds like I will certainly be shopping for SJP/SB and then probably KPC after that. And then Drill Max......

If only the budget would keep up with my enthusiasm!

I do enjoy the more complex choreography since it doesn't leave enough time for me to be moaning about how hard I'm working. :D

In the Timesaver leg segment Cathe gives a little hip shimmy at one point that makes me laugh - meanwhile I'm clutching my tired muscles and saying Ow!

I'm curious about the philosophy about "going heavy" - gogigi, can you (or anyone else) explain? (My muscles are saying "don't listen!")

Thanks again!

IMO, you will be eventually buying them all. About 15 months ago, I'd thought I would buy a few of Cathe then I saw results so I now own most of her stuff.

>love the cardio
>circuit premix where Cathe alternates step from SB with hi/lo
>from SJP)

I hadn't noticed this so gave it a go today - it's great. I got up a really good sweat and I enjoyed alternating between step and hi/lo.

It's amazing what's hidden away in the premixes - that's what makes Cathe's DVDs such good value.

Thanks for the tip Angela!

I love both KPC and SJP and they are so different. I also vote for Drill Max and Body Max 2. My favorite workout lately is the Ultra Cardio Mix from Drill Max (all the intervals 2x) and after all the step routines and bonus cardio from Body Max 2. It's a really good, long cardio workout.
