KK's September Check-In

Good Evening!

Yes, I thought I'd lost that post, but instead it posted twice. Oh, well...

Today was CTX Power Circuits, I think and it's a nice cardio and so I repeated it (20 minutes of it) tonight for my cardio.

Well, I did go and look at another place and found a really, really cute place -- now I have to convince my landlord to let me out of the lease here. Hopefully, I'll be able to do it.

Tammy, so nice to see your post. You've been doing some tough workouts, as well as riding. Way to go!:)

Janie, bet your painting will be great. I was going to ask you something. I've been looking at some of the hand-made soaps that I buy at the Health Food store and most of them are a combination of oils and such. So I guess my question is, do you need that lye? Could you work around it, maybe? And finish that book? Just an idea.:)

Rhea, I've been doing Dance Fit so much that tonight I took a break from it for my evening cardio, and just repeated the cardio from earlier today. I love that sort of hip-hop section that she does. Of course I like the whole thing -- and I love that cool down. Who would think that it could be so fun?

Yes, I got those copy edits off today, so now I can apartment hunt -- actually I did find a place I really like -- it's now a matter of somehow getting out of the lease here.

Hi Jeanette! Hi Mandy!

Have a super day tomorrow.

Hi gals,
Had a good weekend. Got a few things done, played golf and had a lesson too. Yesterday was a 45 mile bike ride at Lake Almanor with 5 others. Fun. No workout this morning as it's my rest day. Went out for Indian food tonite. It was pretty good.

Karen, sorry that you are having to find another place, but we want you to be safe. Hope you can get out of the lease. Why is your hand falling asleep?

Rhea, yep, back to work today. Pretty darned busy and will be for a while. Ironing, yuk. Actually, I iron something every morning to wear. Whatever happened to wash and wear? Am golfing with Cindy Gatie tomorrow night. Looking forward to it. I also golfed at Likely and had a good time. I'd like to get back there before winter.

Janie, I can't wait to see your painting. Are you pleased with it? Did you get the lye yet?

Tammy, glad you're getting the riding in. Before exercising, that was my #1 activity. Loved it! You're getting some good workouts in.

Looking to do a circuit tomorrow.

Good morning,
I've been feeling much better by getting to bed earlier, duh. Once DH gets back, I need to keep this habit up.

This morning's workout was a 51 minute timesaver premix from High Step Challenge. Tonite will be golf and probably some vacuuming. Hope I hear from DH and DS today. I may call the cell # of some guys that were helping them to find elk, just to make sure they are okay as it's been about a week since I've heard from them. :(

Did anyone else order STS? I see it will be released around Christmas, which will work out great. I'd like to start after the holidays.

Good mornin,

KK, I should be done with my painting today. I just want to tweak it a little more and perhaps I can take a picture of it today or tomorrow. Soap is a combination of lye and oil. When those two elements come together, it's a chemical reaction called saponification (its no longer oil or lye, its now soap). It's not true soap without the lye. Non true soap is what people buy in the stores. What is listed for their ingredients are words that I can't even pronounce let alone spell it. Lot's of people that sell their homemade soap in a health food store, put in perfumes and scents, which are all made of chemicals, unless it is essential oils. Even most colorants are chemical based (not all mind you). The lye should be here this Friday. YEAH! Hope you can get out of your lease.

Jeanette, I ordered STS and looking forward to it. Yes, I would call your family to see if they are OK. Still biking and golfing I see. Enjoy! One day I'll have to try golfing. I am pleased with the painting. Should be done today, last minute tweaks, then I'll take a picture of it today or tomorrow. Yes! I'm getting my lye in Friday. This weekend will be soap making and a little writing. YEAH! Can't wait until this huge project is over though. It's a lot bigger than I could have imagined.

Rhea, I'll be done with the painting today. Will be taking a picture of it and you all can see it either tonight or tomorrow. Dance fit is the only one (I think) that I don't have.

Will do some very light workout with Joey today. Perhaps 30 min. all together and light weights. Then tonight just maybe a very little bit of extra stretching.

Hi Tammy,

Janie

Good evening!

Too busy at work to even try and post. So here I am at home. I decided to take a rest day from working out. Darn hip is really tight, so I've been stretching and also, I'm exhausted from my day. I did not get to stop except to shove some lunch down my throat in the few minutes I actually had for lunch. Tomorrow will slow down, so I'll plan on resting today (well, from a formal workout. I'm about to go outside and clean the dog pen, water the plants and cut down some more grapes.)

I had better get going and take advantage of the beautiful evening before it gets dark. Have a great evening everyone!

p.s. KK, I think safe place to live may be a real good excuse for moving out of lease. I would check and see if the landlord failed to provide something to protect against the break-ins.

Good Evening!

Hi!:p

Today was CTX 10-10-10. Goodness, how I like the CTX series. Anyway, no workout tonight. Too busy -- it's late and I'm still up.

Rhea, thanks for your advice on the lease. :) It's been an interesting haul here. Not used to all that's been going on here -- and particularly break-ins. Hope that hip stops giving you trouble, also. Interestingly, I also have a hip that sometimes gives me problems -- I'm saying interestingly, because, like you I also have trouble with my rhomboids from time to time. Hope it's better.

Jeanette, yeah, I would call, also. Of course, Miss Worry Wart here probably would have been on the phone a couple of days out. While I'm away from home, my hubby and I talk everyday -- I even go to sleep with him on the line. It might be silly, but I just feel better.

Don't you just love that 51 minute workout? Gets you good, yet it's not quite an hour.

I didn't order the STS -- it was cost prohibitive for me, unfortunately. So I'm looking at what Cathe might do in the future.

Janie, thanks for all the info on soap. Yeah, I can't handle the perfumes in soap -- I always buy either the unscented ones or ones with essential oils only. I didn't know that one had to have lye to make it "soap." Do these places where I get my soap do something else, do you suppose -- cause they list only oils -- like Dr. Bonner's soap? As you can see, I'm really interested. Yeah, like you, I long ago stopped buying soap that had names in the ingredients I couldn't pronounce. In fact, I've gotten into also not putting anything on my face that I can't eat. Since the skin is the biggest organ in the body, i figure what goes on eventually goes in.

How was your workout tonight?

I thought I had found a place, but I went back there today and discovered a gas smell that I just won't be able to live with, so it's back to the drawing board for me, I guess. I'll keep looking...

It's late, so I'll sign off now. Have a super day tomorrow.

Good morning, today's workout was Turbo Jam Cardio Party 1. Fun, followed up by some stretches for my hips. Last night's golf game was a lot of fun. Started out rough but ended really, really well. Hopefully, my DH will be home today from Wyoming. Miss him!

Karen, I feel bad that you are having to move but it will be better. Nope, the gas smell wouldn't work and could be dangerous too. I've switched to some face products from MyChelle that I really like. Think my skin looks better.

Rhea, busy days for you. This weather has been so nice. Love these temps. Why can't it stay like this all the time? Had a nice time golfing with Cindy Gatie last night. My short game is better, have had a few lessons and it's helping I think.

Janie, I'm looking forward to seeing your artwork. Glad you got STS. I'm not sorry that we won't be getting it until Christmas. Starting afterwards seems like it will work for a lot of folks. I'm sure I'll be modifying those pushups as I really don't want to hurt my shoulders. Glad you found a place to get your lye.

Hi Mandy and Tammy,

Mornin,

Having my cup of Joe and enjoying my morning ritual.

I was done with my painting last night, took pictures of it and almost showed it off. I keep looking at it, and still need to make a few tweaks. I'll be done today for sure. Will take another picture again, then show it off.

KK, Dr. Bonner's soap does have lye in it. He uses potassium Hydroxide instead of Sodium Hydroxide. Instead of cold press soap that I make he uses a hot process. That means everything is heated up to a precise temperature. You can make shampoos, soap pumped from a bottle... I'm not sure why they are not listing the lye except maybe since the oil and lye create a chemical reaction and is no longer lye and no longer oil but soap. Perhaps they can get away without listing lye. Or there is a product called Melt and Pour. People sometimes forget that even this product started out with lye and oil to make it. They just added oils or essential oils and coloring to it then poured it into their molds. They themselves didn't put lye in it, but it did start off that way. By the way, clear soap is to stay away from. It is made from alcohol and sugar to get it clear. Very drying to our skin. It looks really cool, but like I said very drying. My workout was great, Joey and I did Total Body Sculpting. Before that I did 40 min. of step. It felt good! I'll keep an I on my breast to make sure everything is OK. Not a lot of changes in that. Hoping it heals soon, but it still has a very long time before that happens. What did I get myself into? Jeesh!
You'll find another cute place, but do move to be safe from prowlers.

Jeanette, Is Turbo Jam worth getting? I want to buy it, but need your review first. I'm so glad your hubby will be home today. I bet you are so excited! Enjoy him. I still need to tweak my painting yet. It's just not there yet. I'm not sorry either about when we get STS. By the time it comes I can get ready and make sure I have the correct weights for me to do the exercises. Even if it is at Christmas time, just as soon as it hits my door, I'll be ready for it!

Rhea, don't burn out. Can you slow down a minute. I know, it isn't everyday that you are so busy. Do take care of your hip, OK?

Tammy, want to hear more abut horses. Love your stories. That has to be so much fun. I bet you get close to them like any pet, don't you? Pet one for me will you?

Here is a picture of our aerobic floor. My Joey is so skilled, isn't he?

Here is a picture of my painting that I promised.
335884177.jpg

I did do extra work on it that you don't see. Just couldn't help myself. It's a process that keeps going until you put the shiny or matte finish on it. I'll be using a matte finish Tomorrow.

Talk with you all later, I need to exercise. I'll be doing one of Christy Taylor floor cardio. Then afterwords a welcome Yoga from Rodney Yee. I love his workouts.

Janie - that picture is really cool! You are very talented. And it is something that you love doing. Plus, I love that flooring! Great workout room. In my "real" house, I would like to have a room just for working out, but it seems like that would be too much, need multi-task rooms. BTW, I have Turbo Jam and enjoy it very much. I might even get in a little extra workout tonight by doing a shorter Turbo that I have.

Hope everyone else is doing great. I went home at lunch and did Muscle Max premix - the upper body. It was just enough to make me good and sore. I've got a little headache at the moment, but it is from typing all day and working out that back. I'll go home and stretch and walk around for a while and the headache will go away.

Well, I had better get back to work.

Good Evening!

Hi!:)

Today was CTX Intervals -- one of my favorites. And tonight, again no workout -- I'm tried -- for some reason I had a hard time getting to sleep last night so I'm calling it an early night tonight.

My neighbor downstair has put a dog outside (it's a pit bull of all things) chained up to protect the property. So I'm not quite as stressed. Also talked to two more of my neighbors who told me to call if I need any assistance. That is so cool.:)

Jeanette, is your hubby home now? Bet you two will enjoy each other after this time apart. I love the Turbo Jam series, too, although I gave my away to my daughter. The STS series was cost prohibitive for me unfortunately -- but I bet it will really get results.

Did I tell you that my daughter is getting married in October? It'll be in Vermont and I plan to drive there. Hope the economy holds up. No big ceremony or anything -- they're kinda eloping and inviting the family to the elopement. I think that's so cute.

Janie, that floor looks great. Bet you'll get alot of use out of it. That is so interesint about the soaps. So they all have lye in them -- so if I wanted to make my own soap, I would need soap. And the clear soaps aren't that good, huh? I do tend to avoid them anyway.

That's a beautiful picture, Janie. Really beautiful. Very talented. Is it a scene of anything that you know, or did you make it up? Thanks for posting that for us so that we can see it. Beautiful.

Rhea, yeah that Muscle Max will really get you and good. Hope that headache worked itself out.

Well, I'm off to bed -- tomorrow is CTX All Step and I should get back in the habit of doing the 20-30 minute cardio at night again, too.

Hi Mandy and Tammy!

Have a super day, everyone!:D

Good morning,
Today I did Cathe's Push/Pull, ending with stretching to help what I think is causing the low back/hip discomfort - hip flexor tightness. I kind of figured it out when I did Turbo Jam yesterday and couldn't tuck my hips under like Chalene does, without feeling too much of a pull. Guess it's the front hip flexors that eventually shorten and tip the pelvis forward, creating a sway back effect. I looked up lots of exercises for it, though there are basically just a few. I'm going to be diligent to work on these as I think that's what's causing my hips to feel too tight. From what I read, it is caused by sitting at a desk a lot, thus shortening those front hip flexors.

Never did the bike ride after work, though I did go practice my putting, chipping and drives. They are coming along... DH did come home last night around 10:30, from his hunting trip to Wyoming. So nice to have him back and the dogs were very, very excited to see him. Will get the bike ride in today after work though.

Karen, so glad you feel a little better about the home security situation, but sounds like it's still not good. That's exciting about your DD getting married. Wow, that's coming up soon! Will the fall foliage still be vibrant then? I love the fall colors, though we don't have those brilliant colors out here on the west coast.

Rhea, I almost did Muscle Max this morning too, but a Body Blast workout won out. I love that series.

Janie, awesome work you did on your painting! I'm so very impressed with your talent!!! I like Turbo Jam and the music, but I only have the first one. I think Rhea has more of them and for a while was doing them a lot. Maybe she can elaborate. I like Chalene's personality too. The floor is awesome!!! That Joey's a good man! How are you feeling?

Hi to everyone else,

Rhea, Hope your headache will go away soon. My dad use to get them too. I remember him complaining when I was little. He went for acupuncture, and it seemed to work for him. I just now bought Tubulor turbo for $3.45, a package that includes Learn... ,turbo sculpt, cardio party, and ab jam for $7.95. Then a Fat Blast for $5.86 and Punch Kick, Jam for $16.95. Do you think I got some good deals?

KK, Love the intervals that you did. Did you get some sleep? Hope you are feeling OK. I would feel better for you if you moved to a safer neighborhood. Oh! How exciting about your daughters wedding! Tell us more as the day approaches. I haven't painted for more than 3 years, so this was an instructional painting. I did add much to it though.

Jeanette, I sure hope those exercises will help your low back/hip. I'm sorry you have to go through that. Keep us posted on this, OK? So nice that your hubby got home safely. Was he successful hunting? Glad to see you still riding your bike. Soon the weather will change. I have bad days and good days. Sometimes I see no healing going on at all. Other times I know I don't have an infection and I have what I have. It just seems like it is getting bigger and elongated (the scab), and sometimes feel it will never heal. I have a call in to talk to a nurse. We'll see what she says.

Tammy, I bet you are riding horses.

Did Low Max premix and did cardio for 30 min. Also Joey and I did Total Body Sculpting. Good workouts for us today.

Good Evening!

Hi!:p

Today was CTX All Step -- one of my favorites -- but then I like all of the CTX series. Boy, is anyone following what's happening in Congress and Banking? My bank just got bought out today -- I was with WaMu -- which was bought out by JP Morgan. Are you all stocked up on food and such, just in case? Janie, you have a garden, don't you?

Kinda scary stuff happening in our world right now, at least I think so.:(

Anyway, on a brighter note, I think that the people who were causing the problems here are gone -- I guess that's why i feel a little bit better. Plus, my neighbor has put a dog on watch downstairs...so...

Jeanette, Push/Pull is a favorite of mine -- though I haven't done it in a while. Am so glad that your DH is back. Sounds like a good plan to get those hip flexors back in shape. That's so cool that you did the research on how to stretch those out, Jeanette.

How I would love to be with my DD right now and planning the wedding and all, but they've decided to do what they are because of the economy and our uncertainty of what's going to be happening next year -- they did have plans to be married in the Islands next May -- but they're "eloping" instead (although much of the family will be there.)

Southern Vermont will hopefully still have color. When we lived there, it was way up north and so there the color had faded by October -- but I think in the southern part of the state, the color should still be there. It is true that there is no place on earth like Vermont in the Fall.

I'm planning to either get someone to watch Georgie for a week while I'm gone -- or I'll just take him with me.

Janie, have you tried doing those assists? I've been faithfully doing them on my hand at night and I'm beginning to notice a difference. It's just a thought. Am so glad that you've got other things to take your attention, but I'm also sure it would be good to at least talk to the doctor, also. Let us know, okay? You'll let us know, won't you? Well done on getting LowMax done.

And your painting is really beautiful!

Hi Rhea! Hope you're doing well. And Hi Tanny and Mandy!

Have a super day tomorrow, everyone. And if you haven't already done it, it might not be a bad idea to lay in a stock of food -- as my mother used to say, "Plan for the worst and hope for the best."

Good morning,
Today was Low Max, combos 4-7, then a lengthy leg and hip stretch. Tonite will be golfing with 2-3 girlfriends. Last night I went out to do a bike ride but ended up with a flat tire and that shortened the ride. I changed the flat but used my spare tube so came back home as I didn't want to ride without another tube or my cell phone.

Karen, I agree, it is scary stuff going on. Sometimes I watch the TV about it and other times, I just hide my head. Is your apartment in a not so nice part of town? I'm glad you are feeling more assured, but I worry about you still. How much longer before the class is over? Hope you won't have to spend the holidays away from home again.

Janie, love the girl on the bike Meez! I think you got some good deals on the Turbo workouts. I hope you like them. I enjoy Ab Jam, hope you do too. DH and DS didn't get an elk but they had a good time and saw lots of nice country. Seems like the incision should be healed up by now. Is it infected? Good job on the workouts, but know you are taking it back a bit. That Lowmax is a good one, isn't it? Always makes me sweat, even doing a premix.

Hi to everyone else, have a great weekend.

Good morning!

Yesterday I did a premix from Muscle Max, the lower body; day before I did an upper body premix. Some of the premixes are really short, but that's okay, I've been short on time and energy. I'm not sure what I'll get in today, if any workout. DH is flying in to Eagle Lake this afternoon and I've got to at least get the house dusted and vacuumed.

Not doing much else but working. Looks like everyone is doing great and keeping up with the workouts. I'll talk to you later and have a great weekend.!

KK,I forgot about the assists. I did it last night. Thank you for reminding me.;) I agree with our economy, it's getting very scary to me too. In a few days we will go to Costco and stock up on canned foods and staples. Better to be prepared than sorry.

Jeanette, you are smart to get back home after a flat tire. Sorry you had to come home early though. I know how much you enjoy bike riding. My wound is not an incision. I didn't have enough blood supply for my nipple, so it died. It's not the PS fault, because sometimes this happens. Wish it didn't to me but...:( There is only a scab that resulted. It's deep big and trying to heal itself, but all it's doing is scabbing, flaking off, and rescabbing. It's gotten bigger (about as big as a silver dollar now from maybe a quarter) and elongated. I have an appt. this Tues. My PS most likely will put me on an antibiotic. I'm trying hard to be upbeat about it, but it is really getting to me. I'll let everyone know Tues. how it's going.

Rhea, you are doing great with those premixes. Will you come and dust my furniture as well? LOL:eek:

Just finished 25 min. of Step Jam. Oldy but a goody. My sister and my dad will be here to visit this afternoon. They will be spending the night. Can't wait to see them! got a run and do some cleaning before they get here.

Good Evening!

Howdy!

Quick post before I get off to bed.

Today was CTX Legs and tomorrow will be CTX Kickbox. Sure love this series. I, too, love the graphics you do, Janie.

Well, it's a good part of town, I guess maybe it's a little mixed -- and it's supposed to be a good neighborhood -- I don't know. I'm going to look at another place tomorrow -- inbetween class and such. I still have about 2-3 months left. Deep sigh.

Jeanette, love low max -- sorry about the tire. Thanks for worrying about me -- hopefully it will all be okay.

Rhea, so glad to hear from you and see that you're hanging in there with your workouts.

Janie, yes, please do keep up the assists. I really find them helpful.

Okay, well, I gotta get going here. Have a super weekend, everyone!
:D

Hi Everybody,

Boy, this week was busy as all get out. I'm glad my boss will be back tomorrow. I hate not having any days off. Anyway, didn't get many workouts in this week. I managed to squeeze in both upper and lower body pyramid...and that was it. I did get some riding done though. This is the best/prettiest time of the year and I figure pretty soon it will be ugly weather and I'll be able to do my workouts. I did really well with them last winter. I've started a new rotation that is more muscle building on Saturday. It's one of Fitness Freak's rotations. I'm pretty sore today. Yesterday was chest and today was tri's & bi's.

I've also become something of a political/economic junkie this week. I've had CNN and MSNBC on behind me while I've been working. I hope this all gets straightened out soon. When the US has done bailouts in the past (never on this scale though), the government has always made money so I'm hoping we will in this case as well. It may just take awhile to see it.

It sounds like everybody has been busy. I'm going to try to get here more often this week.

I'm supposed to take my neighbor for a ride tomorrow, but I'm hoping to squeeze in my scheduled back workout.

Anway, big wave to everyone and I'll be back to chat soon!

Tammy

Good Evening!

Good Evening!:p

It's so good to hear from you, Tammy!

Am totally amazed at what's going on with the Fed and banks and such. All I know is that I am trying to tell my friends to be sure to have food stored, just in case. Maybe it's the Girl Scout in me but also my mom (who grew up in the depression) used to tell me to store things and then hope for the best.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. I've finished the first (and longest) of 4 major parts of this course. Onward!

So here's what I'm planning for this week workout wise:

Mon: IMAX3 -- eight intervals
Tues: Muscle Max -- premix probably
Wed: Cardio of some kind and stretch
Thurs: HSC -- probably a premix
Fri: Cardio only (anaerobics) from 4DS Bootcamp
Sat: SJP -- Step & Weights only
Sun: Off

I've been doing CTX cardios in the eve. I might continue.

Have a super day!;)

KK,Good idea to tell friends about extra food in case. We are purchasing beans, rice, nuts in shells and sprouting seeds. I think it'a always a good idea to stock up on such things, no matter what. So good to hear that you did the hardest part in your courses. Seems you will be away from your familyat Christmas time. I hope not. Your weekly workout plan looks really great! I've been doing the assists, and they seem to be working!

Tammy, You'll have plenty of time for exercises in the Winter. I will too I think. Debbie is very knowledgeable about routines, nutrition and rotations. Don't forget about our Cathe, she even more so. Together you can't go wrong. yes I worry about our situation in the states too. Doesn't sound like it will be quick though.

Have wonderful days everyone,

Janie
