KK's October Rotation

Hi Karen, Rhea and Natalie:

Posting this for October for you Karen, not the same without you! Hope you come back soon. We miss you...

I just started Cathe's October rotation. I don't have the Gym Styles for upper body, so subbed Pyramid Upper body for Biceps/Shoulders/Back and then added on a few lunges and ab work from CTX Leaner Legs and Abs. I did the pyramids up and down, which I've never done before, only upper. I really do like the Pyramids DVD. What is the length of time for the GS Biceps, Shoulders and Back? Think I was done using the Pyramids in about 35 minutes, so I guess 10 minutes for each part plus the warmup. Should I be doing a longer period of time for each part? Maybe I should add on some CTX upper body too. Someday, I'll have to order the S&H series as I hear it's really good.

Saturday, I ran 4 miles at about 10 minutes per mile. I did feel it by the time I got done, one knee was a little sore, but no soreness after the running stopped. Yesterday, did a casual bike ride (16 miles) to the coffee shop with a friend. It was fun. Afterwards, I spent a couple hours stacking wood. Winter is around the corner...

Good workouts to all and I'm working on clean eating today. Saturday was a family BBQ but I didn't get too outrageous.

Good workouts!

Hi Karen, Jeanette and Natalie!

Karen, I sure hope you are safe and sound. Miss you being here on the board. I may have to pop over to your website so I can "see" where you are in your tour.

Jeanette - I don't know if you saw on a previous post....do you want any fruit? I have zillions of pears, plums and wine grapes. Apples are about ready too. I hate for them to go to waste. I'm going to try an do some sort of canning this weekend, but I've already picked and I can't tell that I have picked. Didn't even make a dent.

Natalie - I hope you are doing well. Are you going to do the October rotation?

For me, it is a day by day whatever I have time or energy for. Only got in two workouts last week. This weekend was the clean house, paint gameroom, clean up gameroom, electrical, acid stain the concrete floor workout. To my surprise, my inner thighs are the part of my body that hurts the most. I guess squatting for about 5 hours is a pretty good workout.

Hi Rhea, Karen and Natalie:

Today was Imax1, first time ever doing it. I liked it and was pleasantly surprised that the impact wasn't too bad. I got a little light headed after the 4th interval, so had to eat the rest of my Zone bar before continuing.

Hi Rhea, thanks for the fruit offer. I would like some pears and plums, but only enough for eating as I don't do any canning. When would be a good time to come over? I normally work 6-4 M-Th and off on F,S,S. Let me know what works for you. Like I said, just a small amount will do as my DH doesn't eat it at all.

Must run now, poor DH got called in to work at midnight tonite and hasn't returned so hopefully he will be able to get off early today and rest up.

Jeanette

Any time would be good Jeanette. Either me or my DH will be home this week during the evenings. Will be working on the game room. My class got cancelled tomorrow, so no Reno...whoo hoo. Hmm, now I have to help with the game room. Oh well. Have a great day! Hope DH gets well rested.

Hey all!

No workout for me this morning, overslept and just not enough time. I informed DH that I would be doing my workout when I got home from work tonite. I could have gotten part of it in, but hate to rush this early in the morning. Chest/Triceps and abs tonite.

Rhea, I will be by Friday late afternoon, if that's okay. I've got another of those fast bike rides tomorrow, hope I'm ready for it as it was a smoker! (for me, anyway).

Have a great day today.

Jeanette

Good morning!

Jeanette, that's fine! I should be home, but if I'm not, please help yourself.

No workout for me yesterday, I ended up grouting the game room floor. Only got 1/2 - 3/4 of it done. This afternoon I'll finish the rest. I might try and get in a short workout just to loosen up some of my tight muscles. I'm really missing working out regularly. This semester of classes can't end soon enough. I'm finding another way to finish my education in Spanish.

Hi everyone,

I'm doing the October rotation but am going to try to fit the workouts into 5 days instead of 6 as my husband has been working overtime with a new job so I've been leaving work on time and spending quality time with my son. I may have to use some premixes if my time runs short on the weekdays but most of the workouts look like they are about an hour so I think this rotation will be more doable for me. Also, I don't have the PS series so will probably just use the GS workouts as subs.

Anyone else doing the October workout?

Natalie

Hi Rhea, Natalie & Karen:

Yesterday after work I did PUB for triceps and chest. Really could feel it afterwards. Love this DVD, then did Abs from Bootcamp core only premix. I'm sure shuffling these workouts around, doesn't even resemble Cathe's! This morning, back on track, but instead of an all-step workout (cuz it seems like I've done a lot of it), I did a KPC premix which included abs. I'll be doing a bike ride tonite so will get more cardio in then (believe me). Think we will have a pretty big group, hope I can hang with them...

Natalie, I'm doing the October rotation too. I don't have the GS workouts or PS so am doing Pyramids, but I do the whole up and down pyramid. My arms feel firmer already. Now, to get the firmness back in the legs... I just don't want to spend any more time exercising than an hour in the morning so it's tough to cover everything. Today was actually about 45 minutes.

Rhea, I should be by sometime tomorrow to pick as it's my day off. Not sure what time it will be, but I'm only going to pick enough for eating, not canning. Thanks so much for your generosity.

Karen, hope your trip is going well and know you are devoting some time to working out. Come back soon...

Jeanette

Good Friday morning Rhea, Natalie & Karen:

I did Pyramids for biceps, shoulders and back plus added on the first 2 combos of Rhythmic Step. That is one fun step workout. Your mind has to really work (at this point anyway). I also did the fast bike ride last night and did better than the week before. It was fun and challenging, but ended with a flat tire about 1/4 mile from the ending spot. No biggie, will fix it today. Was going to do a short run today, but opted for RS because DH is home. We'll probably run some errands and may do a short hike with the dogs.

I'll try to make it by today, Rhea, for the fruit. Thanks again.

Jeanette

Hello there!

Karen - you'd better check in soon. I'm beginning to worry. I don't remember how long you were supposed to be gone. Hopefully you are safe and sound....

Jeanette, no problem...hopefully you can reach. DH happened to pick up all the fruit off the ground yesterday. The ground ones were dangerous anyway. Who knows which was has been slobbered on by the dogs. DH said that the dogs kept stealing the pears out of the bucket. Not to eat, but to put back on the lawn for future use! I guess they have an carb addiction going at the moment.

Hi Rhea, I came by around 3ish and picked a bit. Ate a couple of plums while I was there. Very good. Thanks so much. Also said hi to the pups! What a great yard you have.

Jeanette

Hi all:

Did Legs & Glutes standing only (39 min.) Tomorrow have a bike ride and a Bike Club BBQ in the afternoon. I can sure feel that I haven't done much leg work lately. I was sweating up a storm too.

Rhea, had a nice pear a few minutes ago, chopped up in my cottage cheese for a snack. Delish! Thanks again.

Hope you all have a good day. I'm off to do a little geocaching, a new hobby for me. Yesterday, I hiked up Bass Hill with my little pup and found my first one. Pretty fun and what a view! Requires a GPS.

Have a great day all!

Jeanette

Glad you are enjoying the pears Jeanette. I couldn't even tell you were here though! I just finished making some pear butter, peach/pear butter and some sugar free grape jelly. The jelly is going to be a little tart but not too bad.

I'm off to do Cardio and Weights I think, haven't made up my mind yet.

Good morning ladies:

It was Pyramids for Chest and triceps today. Will do a bike ride with the group this morning and then a SABA (Susanville Area Bicycle Association) club BBQ this afternoon. It was nice to have my workout done in less than a 1/2 hour. Have my lightweight winter tights on for the ride this morning (9 a.m.) Hope it's not too cold. Probably long fingered gloves at the start too. Brrr, here we go, winter riding!

Hope you enjoyed C&W, Rhea. I like that one too.

Jeanette

Hello!

Had a blast doing Cardio and Weights. Haven't done that one for a while. I did have to take a couple of mini rests when had a slight low blood sugar surge. But worked my way through it. Will keep it up with a non-weight oriented workout today.

Have a great rest of the weekend.

Hi Rhea,
I too get those low blood sugar things. Seems like you just run out of power and seem kind of shakey. Most of the time, I have a half of a zone bar or something before the workout. That seems to help. Usually, only before a cardio w/o. Glad you enjoyed it. Had a great bike ride today. I got a couple nice compliments from good riders on the improvement in my riding this year. I owe it to my Cathe workouts, that's for sure, cuz I sure don't ride as much as I used to. Made me feel good!

Good morning Rhea, Karen, and Natalie:

It's Columbus Day today so no workee! I did Imax2 from the October Rotation, always get a good workout on this one. Will do a little walking with my DH this morning before a BBQ this afternoon at my folks.

Went to a bike club BBQ yesterday afternoon. So good to be around interesting people that like to work out. One of my friends is an Ironman (woman)competitor and trains all the time. It was interesting to talk to her about training. I feel privileged and excited because a lot of these people who are really good cyclists are in their 50's on up to their 70's and beyond. One guy I spoke to for quite a while is turning 60 real soon. He rides very well, I have to really push to stay up with him, and can't always on the hills. He, in turn, is really impressed with the people he sees competing at the Senior Games in St. George, Utah who are in their 80's and they can knock your socks off! I wonder, is it genetics or just taking care of yourself and exercising or what? Probably a combination of things, but whatever, it gives me hope that I can still be very functional into my 60's and beyond.

Well, must get into the shower and get ready to go out. Have a good Columbus Day everyone!

Jeanette

Good morning gals!

It was CTX triceps and biceps and abs for me this morning. I got on the scale for the first time in about 5 days. Up about 4 pounds from last time I weighed! Can't say I'm surprised as I've had 2 BBQ's in a row and it's near TTOM too. Back on the clean eating wagon, will also post to Fitday. Think I will throw in a 1/2 hour run this afternoon. Hate the puffy feeling in my face too from the seasonings on the BBQ'd tri-tip we had yesterday. It was very tasty, but oh, I pay for it. Will make a concentrated effort on the water today. Arm muscles are bigger, but could it be fat? LOL!! Will go back to weighing every day as that's what's worked for me for years. Just keeps me on track better.

Good workouts everyone. It's a holiday week so I revert back to 8-hour days and get to sleep in for an extra 2 hours. Yes!

Jeanette

Good morning!

I'm back at doing more than one workout a week! Yippee. Let's see, I did Cardio and Weights and then a Firm Cardio. Today should be one of my new WHFNs, if they ever get here. I know the post office has them, they supposedly tried to deliver to my office on Saturday. Oh well. I haven't weighed myself for a while, the scale is going bonkers again, so that's my excuse!
