KK's July Rotation

Good day all!

I did Cardio Kicks for the first time yesterday, it was a blast. I really liked that workout. An older one, but for some reason it tickled my fancy. May have been that it wasn't too complicated in the kickboxing area for which I have no talent or coordination sometimes.

I'll have to find out about next weekend. My DH informed me that the garage sale was next weekend, I thought we were doing it on the 5th and 6th of Aug, but who knows. I sure would rather go to Reno on either Friday or Sat and meet you Karen, well, you too Jeanette! Much more fun.

Jeanette, when that rider hadn't slept for 24 hours, was he riding the entire time? Wow, how does someone do that? I need my sleep.

Karen, I cried at the end of Harry Potter.

Good morning Karen, Rhea, and Natalie:

Did Pyramid Lower Body premix up only and Imax 2 (1-4). This is the 2nd time I've done Pyramid Lower Body. The stability ball work is really good. Really works the glutes and outer thighs. Inner too! Imax 2 is so much fun. Think it's interval 2 that I like so much, love the music on it.

Wow, I helped out yesterday from 2-7 at the bike rest stop for the ultra marathon ride going on. You want to talk exhausted riders? I think 25% had dropped out during this ride due to the weather (hot) and the fact that the hills on this ride are long, something they are maybe not used to. They all ride hills but sometimes the short steep ones are easier. These riders are from all over the U.S. and I met one from Sweden. It's a whole different animal. These riders would come rolling in and be like walking zombies. Yesterday was not as hot, so think it was better. I go back this morning at 6 to do another shift until 10 a.m. They all have to be out of this control by 9:30 a.m. and on their way back to Davis, CA. Very strict rules the riders must abide by. Anyway, not something I desire to do, but you sure have to admire their tenacity and endurance. One guy had started on Tuesday at 6 p.m. and as of Thursday around 6:00 p.m., he'd had 45 minutes of sleep, and yes, riding the whole time. Said he just didn't feel like sleeping, yet. Also met a girl from Bicycling.com's forum of long distance riding. I've been reading her stories of these rides for 2 years now and finally met her. She's a Canadian from Alberta. She's been to Australia and France and England, doing these rides. This one did her in and she could not finish due to the heat and the fact that nothing would sit well in her stomach. It was great to see her though. Know she's discouraged but this won't get her down for long, I'm sure.

Have lots of housework to do today after I get back from my shift. Looking forward to just staying home and organizing a bit.

Rhea, hope it works out for us to meet Karen!

Jeanette

Hello everyone!

Not a very good morning for me. First thing awaiting me was the death of my oldest kitty. He had decided to play hooky and stay outside. I found him in our driveway near the road, so I think he probably got hit by a car. We had him for almost 18 years, he will be missed. DH was very upset. We gave him a burial in the garden.

I was informed last night that our garage sale had to be next weekend since we needed to get rid of everything we have piled in the garage before my DH can work on it more. Errr. I'll see if I can work on him for wrapping up the garage sale early Sat morning for a run over to Reno by lunch. I could always bring all the non-sold stuff to that new Savers by Joann Fabrics. :7

Have a great day everyone, stay cool!

Oh, I did BC yesterday. Not a wise choice after Cardio Kicks because of the same type of kickboxing moves. I'm a little sore today and it kicked my booty yesterday. I did surprise myself with an ability to finish some of the airborn jumps, I usually hate those and my feet start to hurt.

Hi Rhea! Hi Jeanette! And Hi Natalie!

I'm so sorry about the death of your oldest kitty. I have many kitties myself, and would grief if any one of them died. I'm so sorry. I do understand.

Don't worry about Reno, Rhea. Sounds like you have a full weekend. Not that I wouldn't love to meet you, but there are some things that just come first -- and family things are one of them. If you can snatch a bit of time, do let me know.

Also, Rhea, I cried at the end of Harry Potter, as well. Was very much bummed. Have decided to read only romance for a while and have some happy endings, until I feel a little better about reading.

Anyway, Jeanette, how inspiring. That is such a great thing that you are doing -- to get up so early and go and help them. It must be a bit exciting, as well. I must admit that the idea of riding all that time with no sleep would be off-putting to me. I do seem to need my sleep as I get older.

You are inspiring, as well, with your workouts. I had sprinting on my rotation today, but when I got up, it was already in the upper 80's, and so I stayed inside where it was cooler and did IMAX, the original. That's a fairly tough workout -- not as tough as IMAX3, but still tough. I do like IMAX2 better.

Oh, I like the 2nd interval on IMAX2, as well. Although my favorite I think are the figure eights. IMAX2 is just a fun workout.

Am debating on tomorrow. Have a lot to do -- am scheduling this tour -- and have a hair appointment. Was planning Body Max -- but that's an hour and a half workout, so I may opt for something shorter. We'll see.

Rhea, so glad that you like Cardio Kicks. I don't have that one, and like you, I shy away from kickboxing. It's just not my favorite -- I'm not good at it at all. But still, I'm looking forward to KPC and Legs and Glutes. Didn't get them in the post yet.

Well, have a terrific weekend, everyone -- and great workouts.:7

Hi Rhea,
So sorry to ready about your kitty. 18 years is a long time, and know you will miss him. It always hurts so much.

Glad you are getting to work out. I had Bootcamp scheduled too, but didn't get it done. Watched the TDF on Saturday a.m. and then went to horse class out on Belfast Rd. so didn't get my workout in. Had company drop by yesterday morning, so no workout either, but did ride my bike later yesterday.

Glad you're feeling better.

Jeanette

Good morning Karen, Rhea and Natalie:

My workout schedule this week will be:

Monday: KPC/Legs & Glutes premix
Tuesday: GS Legs (floor) and Lowmax (step only)
Wednesday: High Step Challenge (expecting this to come on Tuesday)
Thursday: Low Impact Kickbox premix from Kickmax (also getting on Tue.)
Friday: Cycling over in Reno in a.m. (also get to meet Karen!)
Saturday: Bootcamp
Sunday: Cycling

Karen, hope you like KPC, I really do. There are so many great premixes on this DVD, so it's easy to get my legwork in, along with cardio. Have you done High Step Challenge yet? Both my DVD's (HSC and KM) should arrive tomorrow.

It's TTOM for me again. My last 2 periods have come about a week early. What's up with that, perimenopause for sure? Oh well, no cramps this time though. Will try to drink tons of water today to get rid of that weight gain and will make a big effort to eat better this week. My big weakness is peanut butter, and Dove dark chocolate and salty things and.... Also have a lunchtime potluck at work on Wednesday but will try to not pig out.

I didn't workout on Saturday or Sunday, but did get some cycling in on Sunday. Have a tough ride next Sunday. Not real long, but with lots of climbing. Hope it's not so hot this next week. Did have a great dressage lesson on Saturday morning. My horse was fantastic! The feelings of harmony when we are both working together are beyond description. Now, if we could only get a better canter. Always something to work on. But that's the fun of it. A definite work in progress.

Good workouts everyone!

Jeanette

Hi Rhea & Jeanette & Natalie,

Just a quick note as I'm out the door. Will post a schedule later today -- right now am up to my ears in scheduling this tour. Pant...pant...

Oh, by the way, Jeanette, I haven't received my copies of the workouts yet -- but soon, I hope. And I, too, have a weakness for peanut butter and almonds and walnuts... Sigh... Drinking lots of water should help get the water weight off, though.

Would love to post more, but most run. More later.:D

Hey Karen!

Looks like I might make Reno on Sat! At least for a quick visit. DH said today, I though you were going on Sat? So....Can that fit or are you already all booked up? If you are booked up, make sure you tell me, 'k? I think you have my e-mail at work...which is better since this is the dinasour computer and I don't get on here very much. Talk to you later.

Hi Rhea! Hi Jeanette!

Rhea, I'd love to meet you on Saturday -- I emailed you privately on this. Don't know if you might want to change plans, Jeanette, so that you can meet with Rhea, as well. But if you do, just let me know. Not sure if you might already have plans for Saturday. Anyway, I'll be leaving somewhat early on Wednesday, and so probably won't get to the computer before I go on Wednesday.

Am really looking forward to meeting you both.

Anyway, I need to log in a rotation here -- so I stay on track.

Monday: Was very busy today with scheduling the tour and thought I wasn't going to get a work out in. I usually workout first thing in the morning, but nowadays, I'm scheduling early due to time differences between here and the East coast. But I finally squeezed in 1/2 hour -- it was interval 1-5 of IMAX3 -- I figured if I wasn't going to the do whole thing -- I'd do the tougher one. Actually fell down over my step (was clumsy) but got up and completed the workout. And I'm glad I did.

Tuesday: ME -- my favorite

Wednesday: short cardio before I head out the door for the National Romance Writer's Convention

Thursday: Called the hotel-- and they only have 2 sets of weights -- and no step -- so I'll just have to bring my weights and do the best I can with what they've got -- would like to get in a sprinting workout, but we'll see. Those weights will be in demand, I'm sure.

Friday: Some sort of weight workout first thing in AM

Saturday: Might take this day off -- meeting with editor in the AM and so want to have a good breakfast, etc. Although a good workout usually puts me in such a good mood -- we'll see.

Sunday: Some sort of cardio and weights before I head for home.

Really looking forward to seeing you both. Have a great one.:7

Hi Karen, Rhea, and Natalie!

It was GS Legs (floor) and first 5 step only intervals from Lowmax. Got to say, doing legs sure cuts into time for cardio, weight and core workouts. Still up on my weight (think it's water), but will drink tons of water today and see if it helps. Don't feel as cut (upper body and core) as I did before all the legwork, but the legs are firmer for sure. Looking forward to my new DVD's coming today (Kickmax and HSC).

Karen, Saturday doesn't work for me because I have to lead a bike ride on Sunday in the Gold Lakes area (beautiful, by Graeagle, CA) and think DH and I will cut wood on Saturday (really (not) looking forward to cutting wood). I emailed you this morning re: Friday.

Must get to work, running late today. Think I'll need to up the cardio in the weeks to come and have to lessen the leg workouts to get it all in in my 1 hour slot. Tough to do it all, that's for sure.

Good workouts everyone!

Jeanette

Good morning!

Isn't Graeagle beautiful? I'm going to be in Cedarville for three days next week. I can't wait for vacation! I wish I could go with you on Friday, but DH has NOW planned a family BBQ at our house on Friday. His sister is up from Arizona with the kids (who are all grown, so this is a rare occasion) I guess no garage sale this weekend. Funny how men get to change the plans, but the wife can't!! LOL

Let's see, I'm getting better at the workouts. I've lower my expectations of my body during the adjustment to the diet. (I'm being very diligent in watching the 40/30/30 combination of carbs/protein/fat.) Yesterday I did Cathe's Step Fusion (an intermediate one) with an extra cardio from Tamilee Webb's Defy gravity. My legs were pretty tight from all the work I put them through the day before. Today, I think I might try Muscle Max. Haven't done that one in a while. Either that or a straight upper body with some cardio. I'll see what grabs me this afternoon.

Have a wonderful day everyone. I'm off to the races! (court that is....haha)

Good morning Karen, Rhea and Natalie:

Rhea, are you vacationing in Cedarville? I love the area. We recently camped in the Warners above Davis Creek. Beautiful country. The people around Cedarville are always so friendly. You get lots of waves. Hope you enjoy your time. Sounds like you are enjoying your workouts and have lots of variety with them. I've never done any Tamilee cardio. I have her "I Want That Body" and liked it before going to Cathe. I did a 40/30/30 (Zone I think) a few years ago, but with the amount of cycling I was doing then, wasn't enough carbs. I got weaker and weaker as the year progressed, but I did lose a few pounds. Wasn't worth it to me so I bumped up the carbs and immediately started feeling better (and gained a couple of pounds). Also the creepy crawlies in my legs went away too. Nowadays, most of the carbs I eat are from oatmeal, veggies and fruits. If I have a big bike ride, I definitely eat more of them beforehand and during the ride.

My new DVD's didn't come yesterday so I did Imax2 (6 intervals) and the ab work from C&W. That is one great DVD. I can see I need to do a bit more cardio in my workouts. Will have to get more creative on my next week of workouts. So tough to fit everything in.

I've got to say, though, that I've never been in better shape for riding my horse and he's responding well to a fitter rider. Thank you Cathe! In dressage, you have to have a strong core to be able to sit the trot that correct dressage develops. The horse starts getting more suspended and bigger in his movements. I'm really enjoying him and we are progressing again.

Well, potluck at work today for lunch. I will try not to overindulge too much. Also leading the beginner mtn. bike ride after work today, so will burn off some of the calories.

Good workouts and Karen, please drive safe today up to Reno.

Jeanette

Good Morning Karen, Rhea and Natalie!

It was High Step Challenge Timesaver #1 (51 minutes) for me today. I really like this workout. My 2 new DVD's (this one and Kickmax) arrived yesterday and I previewed a lot of Kickmax. Looks like it will be good too. Boy, I can sure tell I have been focusing on legwork, instead of upper body work so HSC will be good. Karen, let me know what you think of HSC.

Did the beginner bike ride yesterday after work. It's about a 10 mile total ride up a rail trail and back down. Very slight grade but I pushed it pretty good as no beginners showed up. I had some things to do at home in the evening so didn't want a long ride. Felt good to push. These Cathe workouts give you much endurance!! I was able to keep up with the guys for a while.

Potluck yesterday and I was pretty good. I ate mostly fruit and a dab of salad (or 2), but then ate 2 helpings of a delicious dessert. Bad me, but it was oh so good. Back on the wagon today.

Think I may try the Hard Core fat loss rotation for about a month. I was looking at it and now I have quite a few of the DVD's called for. I'd like to get my weight down a few pounds as I don't see the upper body definition that I had before. Legs are not bad, though. It's like juggling, trying to keep all those balls in the air.

Good workouts everyone!

Jeanette

Hi Karen, Rhea and Jeanette,

It's been hard to get any workouts in this week. Just too many things going on after work. I have managed to work out 5 days a week so far this month so to stay with the July workout, I double up one day. Today was supposed to be MIC step portion only and Body Fusion. I didn't have either so I did HST which I haven't done in a while. I think it's a tough workout but I seen to be maintaining my fitness level despite the short workouts this month.

It's my birthday next week so I am ordering a Cathe DVD! Still can't decide what to get, though.

Natalie

Good morning Karen, Rhea and Natalie!

Seems like a long time since I've posted, guess it was Thursday morning. So wonderful to meet you, Karen, at the Hilton and have lunch. Fascinating to hear about the Romance Writers and to see all of those women in one room, wow! You are very slender and yes, you look fabulous!! You also look like you feel well, very healthy. Cathe workouts are the best, aren't they? Hope your trip back to L.A. was uneventful. Did you meet Rhea on Saturday?

Rotation, Karen, guess you will start an August thread, but I'll post my workout for this week here. It's from Cathe's March 05, Hardcore Flot Loss Rotation (modified to what I own).

Monday: Imax2 plus 1 segment of Coremax
Tuesday: Muscle Max
Wednesday: Kickmax
Thursday: Lowmax
Friday: 30 min. run, plus 1 Coremax seg.
Saturday: Muscle Max
Sun: Rest

Did a tough bike ride over in Graeagle, CA. Only 48 miles, but has about 5000' of climbing. I went with a group of much faster riders so I was tail end for most of it, but that's okay. It was hot so I suffered on the climbs, but got thru it. It was a good, tough ride. I'm hoping bumping up the cardio will help improve my riding too. This heat doesn't help either. Oh yeah, we went woodcutting on Saturday so I was fatigued (back and legs) from packing wood.

Good workouts all! Welcome back Karen!
