KK's January Rotation

Good morning Karen, Rhea, Natalie & Jeanie:

Good to hear from you Karen, as you travel across the country. Glad you have your own food to eat and can stay on track.

Yesterday was a rest day and much needed. I took my grandson and nephew out geocaching in town and we found 4 "treasures". They had a great time and I got to do a little bit of walking to stretch these tired legs. It was a lot of fun for all of us.

Today was supposed to be a HC Extreme workout of choice but I don't own them so I did The Viper from the Terminator DVD. Good workout but I got the low blood sugar feeling and stopped to eat a banana. I also skipped the lunges and last part of the chest work as I just don't have time. When I come home from work, I'll try to get in the 500 crunches and 400 walking lunges.

Hope everyone has a great day. Back to 10 hour day at work, always tougher on the first day back.

Jeanette

Hello ladies:

Today was a 53 minute premix from KPC. Always a good one, it puts the high intensity drills at the end so to me it's a bit tougher. Enjoyed the stretch at the end.

Came home yesterday and did 200 crunches out of the 500. I mentally had a hard time doing these without a DVD. It was hard to be motivated to do these and I didn't even try the lunges as I want to do a Spinerval tomorrow and don't want sore legs for it. I kind of knew I would be time challenged this week for the January rotation. Next week, I'll be back on 8 hr. days so it should be a bit better for time in the mornings.

Have a my niece's wedding this weekend and my sister and Grandmother from Atascadero will be up. I'm pretty excited about seeing them as it's been over a year.

I'm really focusing on lots of water again today as the tough bike ride on Saturday really made me retain water in my muscles. Hopefully, it should be about worked out today though. I hate water weight gain, but I guess it's better than fat.

Jeanette

Hi everyone!

Jeanette, looks like you are talking with yourself this week! haha.

I've been busy at work, so I feel guilty getting on there and "wasting" time. I've had to forget about the January rotation and just do what I can fit in. I was exhausted by Friday of last week, so doing the straight 90 minutes all the time is a bit too much for me right now. Fri I did the High Step Challenge and that was pushing it. Sat I took off. Sun I forced myself to do Cardio Dance Blast and 20 minutes of a Kathy Smith cardio. That was just the right amount. Yesterday, even though I was in a really crabby mood when I got home, I made myself do Turbo Jam and felt great throughout the whole thing. So I have to stick to the stress release type of workouts and not wear myself out.

Well, back to work. Have a great day everyone!

Hi everyone,

I've missed visiting out thread. I don't know how the days get away from me!

I modified the January rotation to limit the workouts to 60-80 minutes on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday; and Thursday being a 30-45 minutes workout. I usually take Tuesday as my rest day. Not as strenuous as what Cathe had planned but I just don't have the time (like all of us!) and don't have the energy this month. I feel I am making endurance gains and hopefully burning fat with my workout which still feels very tough.

Yesterday was Hardcore Extreme #3, 100 lunges, and 200 situps.
Today I am off,
Tomorrow is Muscle Max + 10 minutes interval run.

Thanks for asking about my rotator cuff. It has finally healed. Felt like it took forever and now I have made my left knee sore. I feel like it was been one orthopedic injury after another since I hit 40! I've been lowering the height on some in the jumping, especiallly the IMAX 3 to give it a break.

Sorry about rattling on,

Natalie

Good morning Karen, Rhea, Natalie & Jeanie:

Karen, hope your trip is going well and that you are getting your workouts in. Miss you on here.

Rhea and Natalie, I was happy to hear from both of you can glad you are making the workouts work for you. I too am doing the January rotation but just don't have the time to do all of it, so modify, modify, modify! This morning I did Muscle Max and will do a Spinerval after work. I woke up with a really sore throat, but it's gone now. I felt really well yesterday and thought I had this thing scared off, but it's persistent. I have a wedding this Saturday to attend and my sister and grandma are coming and I don't want to be sick!!! Right now I feel just fine. Hope it continues and I will try to battle it mentally too!

Natalie, glad the rotator cuff is healed. My DH has a bad shoulder. We're going to a specialist next week to have him look at it. It's so painful and grinds and pops with any movement. He had an MRI, has bone spurs, cuff tear, etc. He really needs some relief from this. Glad yours is better.

Well, must get in the shower now.

Jeanette

Hi all!

No sore throat for me today, feeling fine, just a little sniffly. Today called for Lowmax and 1st 5 intervals of Imax2. Of course, I don't have this kind of time today so did Lowmax and will try to ride my bike this afternoon if the weather is good. I have a dentist appointment at 2 and I should be home by 3 so maybe a little spin? I did a Spinerval "Enter The Red Zone" yesterday after work so don't really need any more high intensity interval stuff.

My sister arrives today so the bike workout is pending whether she's here or not. I did a bunch of housework last night so I'm ready in that respect.

Hope everyone is fine and wondering how you are doing Karen?

Jeanette

Hi Everyone!

Am finally in Florida and so should be able to log on each day -- we drove it straight from Houston and then what with needing sleep and settling in today, this is the first chance I've had to log on.

Gee, it's so good to hear from you all.

Jeanette, thanks so much for keeping on posting -- your posts are so interesting. Hope everything goes well for your nieces wedding -- what fun. And it's great to see that you're keeping the workouts going. I am, too, although not like I'd like.

When in Houston, went for a walk -- but another person came with me and so it wasn't very intense -- plus a little dog followed us home, so that was cool.:p But I did manage to do some weight work on the walk. Then we drove straight to Clearwater and so no workout and today, I did a short one, as I had a bit of lack of time -- so I did a Sprint 8. Felt good. Very, very good. Tomorrow I plan ME or Muscle Max.

Rhea, it's great to see that your keeping things going to workout no matter what. It's hard to get that 90 minutes -- like I said, I have trouble with 60...

And Natalie -- so good to hear that your rotator cuff is better -- isn't it true? Always seems to be something. You're getting in enough calcium in your diet, aren't you? Just something to be aware of now that the 40 corner has been turned, I think. But really, really good to hear what you're doing.

Jeanette -- so good that your cold came and went so quickly. I think your level of activity and general health might have had something to do with it, what do you think? A nice treat from all the working out, huh?

200 set ups -- just thinking about it makes me tried right now -- but then I probably need sleep. Am hoping to get back on schedule now that I'm settling in. Also, I noticed while on the road, eating my own food, instead of eating out, I think I might have lost some weight -- not entirely sure, as I have no scale, but my clothes are fitting nice and loosely.

Anyway, will be doing some work here -- this is my chance to get in some good work -- it's nice to get away sometimes -- but hope to have a little leisure, too.

Great workouts everyone and have a simply wonderful day. Should be able to post everyday now -- I always look forward to this time of day.

Good morning everyone~!

Glas to see that you made it safe and sound to the other side of the U.S. How's the weather? Nice and warm? I could use some warmth. I'm already looking forward to spring and I haven't even started the ski season yet.

I ended up not being able to workout yesterday as we all (office mates and my DH) went to have cocktails at Mazatlan Grill for a winning jury trial celebration. So I ended up eating there for the second time this week. i feel like a toad this morning. My hands and feet are so swollen that my rings are too tight. I guess there was a lot of salt, carbs or whatever in my food.

So I'm going to try to do a workout after my massage today. We'll see. This weekend we are spending in Tahoe at a condo, so there will be skiing involved.

Have a great weekend. Talk to y'all on Monday.

Hi Karen, Rhea, Natalie & Jeanie!

I have my sister and her family here now. Sis wanted to work out together and wanted to do something with weights and cardio. We did Bootcamp, with her modifying the cardio as she doesn't do any right now. I think she enjoyed it okay. Tomorrow I think we will get up and do a 1/2 hour Bryan Kest Power Yoga. She's never done yoga before so I thought I'd do this one.

Karen, I thought I'd kicked this cold, but it's still persistently trying to get in the door! I'm still fighting back though. So glad you made it to Florida okay. Good for you for feeling smaller.

Rhea, I know the feeling of being so puffy! I just absolutely hate it. I really love to eat popcorn at night with DH but just can't as I pay for it big time in the morning. Face swollen, wrists large, legs puffy. Congrats on the trial! Hope you had a margarita for me. Also, enjoy your time at Tahoe!

Must go and get the BBQ ready as we have a big group coming over for dinner tonite and then watch either Madagascar or War of the Worlds.

Good workouts all!

Jeanette

Hi Jeanette & Rhea & Natalie & Jeanie!:)

Thanks so much for all your well wishes. It is beautiful here in Florida, but not too warm. I'm sitting here in wool slacks and sweather -- it rained here -- then heavy winds and now it's cold (for Florida). To me, it's comfortable. But it's also sunny and beautiful. Great view over the Gulf -- beautiful sunsets, etc.

Hope to be able to come on and chat each day -- I'm trying, but sometimes, my schedule doesn't allow.

Jeanette, what fun! You and your sister exercising together -- that's so cool of you to introduce her to it. Hope you have much fun together. The family outings sound fun, too. Oh, and I just did Bootcamp this morning, myself. Kicked me into gear, as usual -- one of my favorite workouts.

Rhea -- CONGRATULATIONS on the winning trial victory. That must be quite a feeling, huh? I, too, am suffering with swollen fingers and feet and such. As a matter of fact, I've taken off one of my rings cause it was too difficult taking it off and on -- but I'm hoping that more water will cure this...:)

Jeanette -- have seen both Madagascar and War of the Worlds, and liked them both. Madagascar was quite a bit less intense than War of the Worlds -- War of the Worlds had me on the edge of my seat, I must say. Hope you enjoyed the movies.

Okay, so still not a great amount of time to get in exercise (story of my life) so I think I'll stay with 60 minute workouts for right now. Oh, although my pants seemed to feel smaller, once I finally got on the scale (I did bring my scale with me:+ ... sigh...) anyway, I hadn't lost weight, but haven't gained any either, so maybe that's good. Have found when away from home that if I bring my scale, I tend to not gain weight -- an easy thing to do when away from home. But I think that I really should concentrate on drinking more water this week.

Rotation:

Today I did Bootcamp, no workout on Sat and Friday, did ME.

Monday: 30 minute run and stretch

Tuesday: ME (once again -- have rediscovered how much I love this workout)

Wednesday: IMAX2

Thursday: Pyramid Lower Body

Friday: Pyramid Upper Body (up only) plua 20-30 minute run

Saturday: Sprint 8

Sunday: Off

Okay, well that's it for today. Hope you are both having a wonderful weekend -- and terrific workouts.

Hi everyone,

Karen Kay - Sorry the east coast is having a winter blast during your visit. I woke up this morning to a dusting of snow and a wind advisory for the Tidewater are of Virginia. It is sunny here, too though.

Rhea - congratulations on your trial victory. I didn't know that you are a lawyer.

Well, I am sticking with my modified January rotation although I did do the complete 90 minutes yesterday as I had enough time. Kicked my butt, though! I also had to do more shallow squats as my left knee if still sore - I'm pretty sure it's patellofemoral syndrome so as soon as it's better I'm going to need to start strenthening my quads.

Today is CXT upper body and 15 minute run but I'm going to have to substitute 15 minutes of cardio indoor as it is just too windy and cold for me outside.

Stay warm,

Natalie

Hi Natalie & Jeanette & Rhea & Jeanie, too!

Howdy! Gee, it's good to see you, Natalie! And wonderful to hear that you're keeping up with Cathe's incredible January rotation. That in itself is impressive.

Sorry about your knee -- I, too, have a knee problem -- it's my right knee -- whenever I do step or weights, I always wrap it -- just seems to help. Is that what really helps is strengthening one's quads? If so, I should concentrate on that, too.

Anyway, today it was a 30 minute run with 10 minute warm up, 5 minute cool down and 5-8 minute stretch -- a little over 50 minutes all total. Felt good though -- it's an incredibly beautiful day here -- just a little cool and very little humidity -- well, for here in Florida, I guess.

Hope all is well with you, Jeanette and Rhea -- figure you are both probably very busy -- you with family, Jeanette and you with work, Rhea. Miss hearing from Jeanie, however. I'll have to go and visit her on her site.

Okay, so tomorrow is ME for me -- I've really rediscovered how much I love that workout. Either the full thing -- 64 minutes or the shortened version (51 minutes, I believe).

Hope everyone is having a great day and terrific workouts!:7

Hi Karen, Rhea, Natalie & Jeanie:

Natalie, it's great you are sticking with the January rotation. That cold that I've been trying to kick finally got me, but not in a real bad way. I've decided to modify my workouts this week, basically going somewhat easier and just listening to my body really closely.

Karen, so glad you are enjoying your trip! Sounds wonderful! So nice when we can be on vacation but still keep up the important things too. Karen, Madagascar was okay, but I really liked War of the Worlds. It was fun having everyone over here to watch it on Saturday night.

The wedding was beautiful, food great, cake was absolutely gorgeous. I'm sure my sister is glad it is over with. My other sister from Atascadero, her DH, DD and our grandmother left this morning. It was soooo nice to have them here. Grandma (aged 91) is looking really good and doesn't need a walker now that her hip has been replaced. Much better quality of life and less painkillers to cloud her mind and body. I will miss seeing them.

Before they left, my sister and I did a Bryan Kest 30 minute beginner power yoga. Think she liked it okay. Yesterday we did one segment of Cathe's Basic Step and then all of the weight work without the step segments inbetween. My sister caught on to the step really well and she liked the challenge. Hopefully, she will start exercising more regularly and with a bit more intensity as her stamina was not as good as it was about a year ago. She hasn't been doing any cardio, just a very short weight workout with very light weights. I told her that without DVD's I probably wouldn't push myself either. Anyway, it's got to be something they choose.

In addition to the yoga, this afternoon I did S&H triceps and biceps and then did the Timesaver #1 step. I don't want to push the cardio until I feel better and this was just enough and it was fun too. Been a long time since I've done some of these. One of these days, I may buy the Step Blast/SJP DVD. Think it has pretty good premixes on it too.

For the rest of the week I will just see how I feel each day.

Take care everyone!

Jeanette

Good morning ladies:

Still have this cold and don't want to tax my lungs too much so did Pyramid shoulders and GS Legs Timesaver premix (the short one). Nice workout.

Back to work this morning, 8 hour days due to a holiday week. We'll see how I hold up there. I'll be taking Thursday off to accompany DH to a dr. up at Tahoe for his shoulder. We have a storm coming in so may travel to Reno tomorrow night, staying with DS and just have less driving in the morning on snowy roads.

I'm drinking lots of water, which keeps the cold junk thinned. Hoping I can bounce back quickly from this one. Usually, for me though, the longer it takes to get a cold, the longer it hangs around, with lots of the cursed draining... Hate that.

Good workouts ladies,

Jeanette

Good morning all!

One clarification, not my trial, but my co-workers....we still all celebrate though!

Haven't been doing much in workouts since I tried to ski on Sat during a blizzard, not good thing for first time skiing this year. Used my quads so much that they were screaming until 6 hours later. Now my knee is a bit sore. Err. So I definately need to get those quads in shape.

Well, gotta run, have a great day!

Hi Jeanette & Rhea & Natalie & Jeanie!

So nice to hear from you all and see what you're all up to. Rhea, well, the celebration sounds like fun anyway. Hope your quads are doing better -- isn't it the pits doing some exercise that you don't usually do and then feeling it for a while?x(

Jeanette, I really enjoyed War of the Worlds, too. It had me on the edge of my chair and didn't let me go until the very end. Whew! Sounds like you have really been busy what with the wedding and people over and such. I'm sure you'll bounce back soon -- at least that's my wish. Of course, for whatever it's worth, I almost always take colostrum (a nutrient -- a mammals's first milk) when I have a cold to get rid of it as quickly as I can.

A 91 year old grandmother -- that's so cool. We have staying with us (of course I'm in Florida right now) but back in LA with have Grandfather George, who is 85 and he is doing quite well, too.

Am glad the wedding went well -- love weddings, but like a good tour, I'm still happy when it's over...

Hope all goes well with the DH and seeing the doctor on Thursday -- seeing Tahoe should be nice, though. Oh, and I hope your daughter does stay with the program -- but you're right -- it has to be her decision.

Well, for me today, it was ME. I've discovered what it's like to have someone living underneath you, as someone staying beneath my floor complained of the pounding on the ceiling. So I worked out on the deck/patio today -- but discovered that outside (probably due to the wind) that my computer kept skipping -- plus it was hard to see the screen outside for some reason. And the patio is concrete -- not something I like to jump on. But tomorrow, I'll try it again --might get a mat to jump on, however. We'll see...

Anyway, have IMAX2 planned for tomorrow -- hopefully the computer won't skip and it will all go off okay.

Well, it's late and must get to bed. Happy workouts, everyone -- and Jeanette, you are doing the right thing.:7

Hi All!

Hope you are all doing well and having some good workouts.

Today it was IMAX2 -- which was a good thing to do -- haven't done much anaerobics this trip and so this was a good thing. I think I have Pyramid Up (up only) and a short run scheduled for tomorrow, but I'm not sure -- will have to check.

How is that cold, Jeanette? Hope you're doing much better. And how's that knee, Natalie? And Rhea, hope you are doing well, too.

Well, have a wonderful day, everyone, and terrific workouts.:D

Hi Jeanette & Natalie & Rhea & Jeanie!:)

Hope you are all doing well. Jeanette, hope that cold is not getting you down -- haven't heard from you in a few days and so I'm hoping that things are going okay.

Rhea, I know you're busy -- so whenever you have the chance, it's nice to hear from you and same for you Natalie.

Anyway, just keeping a general log here -- so thought I'd post today's rotation -- which was simply a 30 minute run, 5-6 minute warm up and 5-6 minute cool down and about 3-4 minute stretch. Was pressed for time today, and so didn't do the upper body workout I had planned. But am planning still to do Pyramid Lower Body tomorrow on the rotation or maybe not -- might schedule a more intense workout like Bootcamp or something -- since I didn't get the upper body in today. We'll see how I'm feeling tomorrow morning.

At any rate, hope everyone is doing great -- and have a terrific day, everyone.:7

Doing just fine Karen!

Haven't had much time to post. I've had to cut back on my "visiting" while at work. I'm pressed for time and find myself procrastinating on the forums instead of getting my work done. So I'm trying to just read.....doesn't work real well. But I'm trying!

Glad you are having fun in Florida. I can't wait until I can take a real vacation, you know, one where you don't necessarily stay home and work all week.

Talk to you later.

Good morning Karen, Rhea, Natalie & Jeanie:

I'm back after taking a couple of rest days. Still have the cold, coughed quite a bit last night and got "0" sleep, but got up this morning and did Cardio & Weights as the cardio is easier in that one. Felt pretty good. Didn't do the ab work as I've been coughing enough to keep them worked. I'm still taking it easy. Actually, once I started exerting a little, it helped break up the "junk" that runs down into your upper airways during the night.

Wednesday evening DH and I drove to Reno and stayed with DS. In the morning, we drove up to Tahoe, leaving plenty early to be able to find the dr's office. Took us a while due to my mistake on mapquest, but we made it. Dr. will do surgery on DH next Wednesday. It will be outpatient, but we'll stay an extra night in Carson City just to keep him close in case of complications. Dr. feels very confident this will help DH's pain, he's a good candidate for the surgery, and hopefully recovery will be quick. Already downloaded the forms for state disability insurance for when he's off.

Karen, so glad you are enjoying Florida and hope the weather has been good. Rhea, think if I had the internet at work I would be spending too much time checking out the forums. Probably best I don't have easy access to it! I'm going to have to really push today at work due to next week only working 2 days what with DH's surgery and all.

Good workouts everyone,

Jeanette
