KK's December Check In

Good Evening!:)

Jeanette -- you've really been keeping up with the workouts and I so admire it. I must admit that I got so busy with kitchen work on the 24th and yesterday -- X-mas day -- that I didn't workout at all -- and then I still have this back/neck thing going on.

Anyway today I did IMAX2 just to do a hard workout and sort of break myself back in -- can't believe how much I had to talk myself into this -- and that's with only taking 2 days off. Oh, how I would have loved to not do a workout -- but I made myself do it, and I'm so glad that I did.

Actually, the kitchen work that was heavy is sprouted grains -- we sprout our own grains and usually do alot all at once -- and the grains along with the water is quite heavy. That's what caused the problem -- but then I also cut myself over and over while working in the kitchen over the holidays...x( You'd think I'd never done kitchen work before...

Love the holidays -- am so glad they're over -- it's like another deadline for me... LOL!

Anyway, am so impressed with your workouts, Jeanette -- sounds like your bike ride was great, too!

Rhea -- know you have company -- enjoy!

Becky -- hope you're enjoying your time off.

Have a wonderful day, everyone and super workouts!:7

Good morning!

Boy what a busy weekend. I didn't have time to get any type of workout in!

Well, yesterday I could have.....but just didn't want to. I'll be back at it today, somehow. Back at work...bummer. Too much to do and not enough "want" to do it. I think the main goal is going ot get the Christmas stuff down here at work.

Well, I'd better get at it. It is already nine and I haven't accomplished a thing!

Talk to you later.

Hi all,
Today's workout was KenpoX with my weighted gloves. It was a good one and I worked hard to "bring it". Yesterday, DH and I took the dogs out off of Rice Canyon Rd. and walked up a long hill with them. It was a good little cardio workout. Started getting really windy, cold, and spitting rain at the end, but felt good to "air out".

Rhea, hope you had a great time with your company. John Shoun and I rode past your house on a bike ride on Sunday and I thought of you. He lives across the way on Diamond. He's 75 years old today and an awesome rider.

Karen, hope you felt better with Imax2 today, or at least afterwards. Sprouting grains sounds like pretty heavy work. Be careful, okay? How is the neck/back? I think we're all glad the holiday hubbub is drawing to an end. Our tree still looks pretty fresh so I'm in no hurry to take it down yet.

Must go,

Jeanette

Good Afternoon!:)

Decided it was time to take off the kid gloves -- so I did my first weight exercise today in about a week and a half. Neck and back are still a little out, but it felt so good to do a weight exercise -- and am still feeling okay afterwards (knock on wood).

It was Cardio and Weights -- not too strenuous -- and I went light, just to make sure. Yea!

Sounds like a really relaxing and wonderful time you're having with your DH, Jeanette. Those walks sound lovely.

Our chruch is celebrating New Year's a little early this year -- tonight -- so it's drag out the formal clothes (that's kind of fun -- a reason to dress up) and have some fun tonight.

Rhea -- hope you're hanging in there with your relatives all visiting.

And Becky -- hope you're having a great time off.

Have a rest of a wonderful day, everyone! And some terrific workouts!:7

Good morning!

I managed to get in a workout yesterday. Did Cardio Party #2. Was just the right amount of workout after four days of rest.

Well, not too much else happening here. Gotta get to work. I can't wait until Feb. is over. (that means all my trials are done.)

Good Morning!:)

Well, it's still morning here. It is beautiful here today -- there's been quite a wind, which has blown away all the clouds and has left it cool, sunny and quite beautiful. Went for a run today -- 24 minutes actual running with a warm up and cool down and then a stretch with Cathe on the ball.

Neck and back are better, but the stretch sure felt good.

So nice to hear from you, Rhea. And glad that you got a workout in. I'll be glad when the holidays are over, actually. Love 'em -- am always glad to see them go, however. Whew!

Had fun last night dressing up -- but tore my dress -- I'll have to get it fixed, as it's my favorite black tie type of dress.

Jeanette -- hope you're hanging in there with all you're doing.

Becky -- a few more days off for you, huh? Enjoy.

Have a wonderful rest of the day, everyone and terrific workouts.:7

Hi!
Today was a late StretchX as I overslept. I'm on vacation from work but was subpoenaed to appear today at work for a State Personnel Board hearing. After 3 1/2 hours into it of interviewing staff (I still had not been interviewed), they called it off for the day and decided to reschedule for later. Sure messed my day up.

When I got home, I did XStretch and found I needed it as I was sore from Core Syn or KenpoX. Standing around waiting makes my hips sore too. I sure was glad to get home.

Karen, glad you had fun last night. Did you tear your dress because it was a wild party? Glad the neck and back are better. Still cold here, but no rain or snow today. Hopefully, it will get warmer by the weekend. Maybe into the upper 40's.

Rhea, glad you enjoyed CP#2.

Must go,

Jeanette

You know, I was trying to join a check in and I think I posted somewhere else...oops!

Are you ladies following your own routines or cathe's?

Cheryl

Ladies, I am alive!!!

This past week or so has been uber busy for me w/ traveling to Ohio to visit parents, etc., so I didn't manage to post anything. But...that doesn't mean I didn't work out!

I did run on my parents treadmill about every other day I was there. It is difficult to do with a full house...the room the treadmill is in has a couch in it which my sleepy brother slept on over the holiday.

Starting tomorrow I will be a devoted Catheite once more. :)

Crazy things happened at my parent's house/on the way home (we drove)
1. We almost got kicked out of a theater...long story...but basically we ended up leaving.

2. My brother's tonsils swelled up so much they almost blocked his airway so I took him to the ER on Christmas Eve at 9:30 pm (needless to say, we celebrated the beginning of Christmas at a hospital...he's on antibiotics now and is doing much better!)

3. On the drive home, we were going south-bound and a north-bound car on the interstate flew across the median and hit a south-bound traveling car only like 200 feet in front of us. 2 people died. I felt terrible because even though I am a med student, I am only a 2nd year and don't really know enough. I got a 5 year old out of a car and triaged him and comforted and triaged a passenger that had been ejected out of a car before the paramedics arrived, but I didn't venture near the driver or passenger of the really bad car...both of those people died...but I think they may have been dead on impact. I didn't think there was anything I could do for them, so I helped the ones I thought I actually could help. But, it is gnawing at me that I didn't try...but then the paramedics had to use metal cutters to get to them anyway, so I shouldn't eat myself up about it. Brian (DH) was pretty shook up about basically watching 2 people die in front of our faces. He helped the police piece together what happened since he clearly remembered what happened. I couldn't...I just ran out of the car to help them. I think the little boy is going to be okay...but his mom was one of the ones who died. That really sucks.

Anyway, sorry to end on such a horrid note. I guess I am still in shock that it happened today. I think I'll take an EMS/Paramedic rotation during 4th year. I have no desire right now for ER medicine, but I think it would be beneficial for situations like today's if I have training in accidents. Plus, I hear it is fun to travel in life-flight (as long as you aren't the patient). I don't like not feeling confident in helping people.

Post more tomorrow.

-Becky

Good morning!

OMG, Becky, what a terrible thing to witness. I'm sitting here just...wow....how are you doing? Sounds like you just got home and that happened today? You did what you could and it sounds like you did the best thing. You are probably right, the two other people died on impact. Was there any explanation for why the other car came over the median? Well, I hope that you have a better day and even better New Years. Hang in there.

Okay, yesterday I did Total Body Blast and today is my massage. I don't think I will workout today.

Jeanette - what a lousy way to spend a day off. Glad the stretch felt good. Another coooooold morning. I dread getting up when it is this cold.

Karen - I was thinking the same thing that Jeanette was...must have been some wild party to tear your dress. Whoo hoo...;)

Well, got to get to work. Too much to do and too little time. (and not enough "want" to get it done. So many other things I'd rather be doing!) Have a great day everyone!

Good morning,

Today's workout was Core Synergistics, which I really enjoyed more this time than on Tuesday. I'm in my recovery week of P90X and I've been feeling soooo lazy this week, plus I'm at home with no real scheduled so I've really been relaxing. Some of Core Syn is tough, but modifiable. Love it!

Cheryl,
We do pretty much whatever workouts we want on this thread, not exclusively Cathe ones. We usually only check in once a day. We would love to have you check in with us.

Becky, so sorry that you had to go thru what you did yesterday. I can't imagine myself in that situation.

Rhea, yep, cold again. DS has been fishing every day at Eagle Lake. Too cold for me to stand around there.

Karen, hope the neck/back is steadily improving. Are you doing any writing now?

Must go,

Jeanette

Good Afternoon!:)

It was ME for me today -- the express premix -- still a tough, tough workout -- but oh, how I love it.:)

Becky -- I think I was in shock reading your post about the accident. You did what you could -- like you, I think I might get some training in this kind of thing so I can be useful in such situations. Not that I have ever been in one, but it is something I would like to know. You did save 2 people, and that's probably more than anyone else would have tried to do.

Sometime you'll have to tell us the story of the theatre -- -- sounds fascinating. And I'm glad to hear that your brother is doing well.

Cheryl -- welcome -- so glad you found our posts. We usually only check in once a day -- and as you can tell, sometimes we can't post everyday -- we just do what we can. And as Jeanette said, we don't always do Cathe workouts, as there are so many wonderful workouts out there. But we're all pretty familiar with them.

Rhea -- Wish I could say that I tore the dress doing something terrific -- more likely, I stepped on it wrong -- It's very long. Darn... So glad to hear that you're doing the workouts. I know early this week, I had to drag myself to the step... Enjoy your massage.

Jeanette -- actually youre weather sounds wonderful and very holiday-ish. Hope those stetches are good today.

How's everyone doing on their diets? With the holiday season and all. I put on a few pounds, but have been really watching it these past few days and have taken off almost all of it, thank goodness.

Well, have a terrific rest of the day and wonderful workouts.:7

Karen - I had to giggle when you asked about diets. I had just finished polishing off a nice burger (was very hungry for some meat ...Jeanette, it was World Burger) and a piece of Sees Candy. So I went totally off a clean diet in the matter of 30 minutes. It is all my husband's fault. The candy box was wrapped and unopened. Katherine and I are the only ones at work today. We were not going to open it. My husband came for a visit and kaboom, the paper was off and the box open. Then we went to eat lunch (I had lunch here, but just could handle turkey for one more meal!:p ) Now I'm really full. Hopefully I can lay on my stomach for my massage in about an hour.

Hi ladies.

I too have not been to good with diet. I haven't really gained any weight, but I do feel my muscle tone slipping a bit, so I hope Cathe puts a good amount of weight or circuit work in her January rotation. (I plan on doing it as long as it isn't 90 minute workouts...can't handle that much this semester!) In fact, DH and I just ordered a pizza...so I'll continue to have fun with him until Tuesday when I head back to Tallahassee and eat Kashi cereal almost exclusively! (Well, I am having a roommate during the week this coming semester, so maybe we'll actually cook. :) )

Jeanette, I know this is being terribly lazy since I could simply read all of these posts that I have missed, but how is your P90X rotation (I think it is P90X at least, maybe it is PX90?) After June (national medical board exam), maybe I'll purchase it for a bit of a change.

Karen, good job on getting the weight back in check.

Rhea, hope that candy was good. My house-sitter/petsitter left us some goodies that she baked while she stayed here. Luckily she only left me a little of each (only 3 pieces of fudge). They sure are good though!

Today I did what was scheduled on Cathe's Dec rotation (although I have totally not been following it until now :) ) I did BM2 Cardio Timesaver premix. I love doing all the combos of the first part of BM2 back to back like that. It does get a tad boring to do them 4 times though...I sort of zone out in my mind.

Anyway, gotta go drag DH away from his computer and make salads (so that we don't eat TOO much pizza tonight). Hope everyone has had a great Friday.

Oh, I'll try to post earlier tomorrow and mention how we got thrown out of that theater.

-Becky

Hi all,
It was Bryan Kest's Power Yoga - #3 Sweat for me today. I just am not enamoured with YogaX and have a hard time doing 90 minutes of it.

Karen, good for you on doing ME, even a premix. I will revisit these sometime, but it will be a little while for me. I didn't gain any weight with the holidays, but I did have a few bites of Chinese Food last night and I'm puffy today. What's in it that causes this? I know it happens to others too.

Rhea, you made me laugh blaming your DH about the World Burger. I haven't had one of those in probably over 20 years, but I'll never forget how good they are. I'm sure the See's candy was tasty too. But you're right, it's all your DH's fault. How was the massage?

Becky, I've been checking but no January rotation from Cathe yet. It'll be a while until I do a rotation anyway due to doing P90X. I'm enjoying it. The concept of "muscle confusion" is awesome and so far, effective. This is really making me re-think my workouts and how I will plan them in the future. The tough part is combining "performance" on the bike, with muscle toning. I'm learning that my body doesn't need as much cardio as I thought to feel leaner. It's quite interesting.

Got to go,

Jeanette

Good Evening!:)

It's Saturday -- DH and I are going to a movie soon, but thought I'd slip on the net and post.

It was Drill Max premix for me -- the 46 minute premix -- can't wait till we get the new DVD's on this -- as my DVD's continue to freeze and I love these workouts.

Rhea -- made me laugh with your version of the burger story -- I agree it was your DH's fault...x( Hope the massage was good.

Becky -- a pizza -- yummy -- and a roommate when you get back -- that should be fun -- someone to talk to, as well.

Jeanette -- I think it's the MSG -- monosodium glutinate (may be misspelled) -- which is very salty -- that does this to people -- even those places that say no MSG added -- well, there's still MSG in many of their prepared sauces, etc. MSG acts like a salt in my experience -- I've also observed that it can be a bit addictive.

Power Yoga sounds wonderful. The FIRM is where I first heard of muscle confusion -- loved those FIRMs -- but love Cathe even more.

Well, it's time to get off the net and go to the movie...think we're seeing "A Night In The Museum." Title reminds me of the Marx Brother's movies.

Oh, and tomorrow, we're going to another black tie event and dance -- so I have to get out my sewing kit and fix that dress.

Have a great day tomorrow and in case I don't have time to post tomorrow -- HAPPY NEW YEAR everybody!:7

Hi ladies.

Yesterday I did 30 minutes on the treadmill and today I did DM premix #4. That sure was a good workout!

Tonight we are pretty much taking it easy. We're making pizzas at home (I know, we eat too much pizza :) ) and DH is making spicy chicken wings (but I don't eat meat on bones...freaks me out). A couple of friends are coming over and we'll probably play the Nintendo Wii until the ball drops. Just relaxing

I have to go back to Tallahassee tomorrow...not looking forward to being away from DH, but glad that I won't be living alone this semester.

Hope everyone has a great New Years Eve!

-Becky

Hi all!

Happy New Year to everyone who posts here, Karen, Becky, Rhea and anyone else!

No real workout today. I showed up at the group bike ride but it was so cold that I guess I was the only dummy. I then went home and decided to take down the Christmas tree and ride later when it warmed up to like 39 degrees. I just got back from the ride and it was a good one, but short. Our club has it's New Year's Day ride tomorrow morning so we'll see if anyone shows for it. I myself don't mind riding in the cold as long as I'm not out in it for too long. I can do shorter 1 to 2 hour rides before I start to get cold.

Karen, hope the party was fun for you. Did you get your dress repaired from the last wild crazy bash? Hope it was enjoyable.

Becky, have fun with your friends tonite too. Playing Wii sounds like fun. DH and I will no doubt just stay home and watch TV. I may run into town pretty soon and snag a movie if any are left.

Hi Rhea!

See you all next year!

Jeanette
