kid videos???

Love the workouts! Can't wait for more! (Especially during those long winter months!)

Cathe, would you ever consider doing some short kid workouts? My girls, ages 5, 6 and 7 join me periodically . . . but I have a feeling they would totally be into doing a special kid workout with me!

By the way, does any one else have a problem with the number of treats given to our children at school? This subject drives me crazy on a daily basis!!!

That would be great!! My sister homeschools, and I am doing a health and exercise unit with the kids (6 and 8) for her. They absolutely love it but I have to say alot of the children's exercise DVDs are downright dopey. Even the six year old disdains them as "babyish." :D Cathe, they have already worked out to you with me, every now and then. They would die for a children's DVD!

OH Yes. I am here with you my girls love to workout. 2 five year olds and my son even lifts 3lb weights with me. I was going to get the denise austin one anyone have that?

Beth I don't have Denise kids' tape but I read alot of reviews that said it was not very good, boring for the kids.

Kari Anderson's Shake for Kids

Have you tried Kari Anderson’s Shake for kids? She is not Cathe, but she is really good. I like her a lot, and I am very picky about instructors. There are only a few other than Cathe that I like enough to do their workouts, and one of those is a friend where I live. You can go to the Collage Video website and preview a video clip (just search for Kari Anderson or Shake):

http://www.collagevideo.com

Here is a description from the Collage Video catalog: “A true fitness-style workout created for kids 6 to 11 years old. It’s designed to increase confidence, coordination, and energy. Everyone is having lots of fun, but this is a ‘real’ class. Kari uses moves that are fluid, kid-friendly, and easy to follow. She teaches eight complete combos, each one a mix of high-energy upper and lower body movements. The exercises range from stomps and kicks to pivot turns and twists. The workout ends with a faster-paced challenge song featuring all eight combos in a non-stop dance sequence.”

It looks like fun! Collage Video has an unconditional return policy. If your kids do not like it, you can send it back within 30 days. I love Kari’s dance-oriented floor aerobics videos for adults. I expect that this one would be fun too. If you try it, let me know if you like it.

Blessings,
Heather B.

Yes I have purchased from collage video. Would rather spend my money here! I'm loyal to Cathe, she's given so much to so many people. Plus I enjoy Cathe and the crew more than any others out there. My children are well aware of this simple fact. (I like Kari Anderson too though.)

So Cathe, even if you put a bonus 10-20 minute kid workout on one of your DVD's it would do amazing things in our household. The workouts would be even more of a BLAST!

Now here's another neat idea. . . Wouldn't it be cool to have an AMERICAN CHILDREN UNITE WORKOUT VIDEO? I could totally visualize this. . . Cathe and her boys could lead some children (and moms of course) representing each state and province. (Maybe the USA and Canadian leaders could get involved too!) The best part of it is that a Cathe Road Trip might actually become a reality for many moms across this continent. Those darn husbands keep us all so practical don't they???

We all suffer those unfortunate events that slow us down once in awhile. But the best part about those downs is there's time to re-evaluate and make new exciting adjustments to the future!!!

Can't wait to hear from Cathe!

Dear Beth,

I have Denise Austin "Fit Kids". My girls love it, especially when I do it with them. It is not hard for me, but they get a pretty good workout in. My girls are 10, 9, 6, and 3. The 3 year year old can't do much of it but she likes to try. But a CATHE kids video would be awsome.

I was watching Discovery Health for Kid yesterday and I saw a segment where kids, both girls and boys taking a step class designed for children. They mentioned that the instructor is certified to teach the kid's class. I thought this would be so coool if Cathe can create a kid's version workout tapes. My DD would love to have her own from Cathe.
;-)

Love Love this idea!! I have two children, daughter 10 and son 6 and they love to workout with me. Sometimes when I can't decided what video to do they choose for me and I have to say it always like IMAX or Boot Camp. They tell me we want to see you sweat MOM! }( And of course they do a couple right along with me.

Cathe should put her boys in the video, thats if they want too. Maybe hubby too. Maybe that would get my hubby moving.

I am so passionate about this idea I cannot stop thinking about it. Every email beep I hear I run to check for more replies. I haven't heard any for awhile!

If you are in support of this idea, let it be known. Any other ideas/comments related to having fun with our kids, send those too. Has anyone else tied a double stroller to a single stroller in order to get some walks in with all three children? How about pushing the Berley and pulling a wagon? Or one bike, plus the Berley and wagon. (Yes, that bike would end up in the wagon with a child, and the other two children in the Berley.) Oh the things we do to stay fit . . . Especially with those "practical" husbands who think yard work is just as good as a 6 mile run. Has anyone shovelled a snow maze in the yard? Now that was one of the best workouts ever! (We ended up having an "under the icey sea" birthday party for my middle child.)

Anyway, I just have to share a few "fitness" moments with you all. Maybe you can relate! The first is as a young child . It was the "20 minute workout" and later "It Figures" with Charlene Prickett. Anyone else have fond memories of "working out" with mom/aunts? The second is becoming an aerobics instructor during the beginning step craze. (inspired by another friend/instuctor named Diane who was tragically killed by a teenaged drunk driver). The third is recovering from giving birth to three children 13 months apart . . . walking around the block, running several 10k's, a half marathon, and last summer a full marathon, even though it was called Grandma's Marathon. And fourth, seeing Cathe on Fit TV and starting teaching aerobics again. I cannot imagine life without exercise. "20 minute workout" and "It Figures" isn't on anymore, (chuckle chuckle) but Cathe is! Just think, exercising with Cathe could actually be one of my children's first "fitness" moments. I wonder if things will change as much as they have in the industry throughout the years!

I have one more thought. . . IT"S TIME OPRAH KNEW ABOUT CATHE!!!

Denise. Thanks so much my girls do like denise so if I can not find anything they like until Cath makes one I will pick it up.

I just said this to my grandma the other day. And after I read that she teaches seniors OH MY GOSH. SOmeone needs to call Oprah and spread the word "the Cathe word"

I also was thinking she should train ( I am sure there are enough out there that already would be willing) to open gyms around the country and she could maybe go to 1 a month. I would love to do this I just need to get pointed in the right direction.

Cathe, we are just getting all kinds of things planned for you:
iPod Max, Online rehab videos, kid's fitness! Its all good. :D

I too have looked for really good kid's fitness products and there are NOT many out there. My kid's like "Toucanz Trail" kids exercise video and I have done it with them using some advanced modifications. It is a good one, not Cathe, but it has a few of sparkling qualities that we expect from Cathe. ;) A kid's Bootcamp would be a hit and I think a kid's stability ball routine would sell well also.

I can't imagine how long the rehearsals would take if you have kid background exercisers. ;) You'd lose all your money right there. ;)
Just kidding! Literally-
Amy

I'd be in as well!! My niece really wants KM. She borrowed KM on a sleep over last summer. I got her a kid's video for Christmas and she asked me about KM again! My dd loves to work out with me, but she's usually not up that early. She would be thrilled with a Cathe kid's video!!!

Good idea Wendy!

Dallas

PS. I really like the iPod idea too! Take Cathe to the gym...woo hoo!:7

Even if the kids get bored with the workout, I'd probably still use it along with the growing collection. (just a short Gym Jam to feel like a kid again!) Bootcamp style is perfect! I know we moms could handle it, but kids, "are you up for the challenge"???

One more question on this topic, spending fun times with our kids. . . Does anyone know of any more children/"not so annoying for parents" CD's for dancing, hopping, jumping, running, skipping, moving, etc? We love the Tigger Mania CD (especially for birthday parties), Disney Mania 1, 2, 3, Songtime Kids Silly Songs (Loving Care Children), and What's Shakin' for Kids (monkeybusinesscreative.com). I cannot help but dance around with the girls when they play these CDs! I'm sure Cathe could think up a few moves to these musical gems. Any others to add?

Nice ideas here, I would have loved exercise videos when I was growing up. I never really got into sports at school, and didn't know that I liked exercise until I discovered how much I like exercising to music. (Don't like the "AMERICAN CHILDREN UNITE WORKOUT VIDEO" idea though - this would put us non-American Catheites off I'm afraid!)
