Kickboxing videos?

One of the things that makes Powerstrike workouts shine...

are the two instructors.

They make you forgive their earlier poorly produced workouts (which are hard to come by now) and I tend to cut them slack on the one side first thing because they are both so charismatic and motivating. Ilaria has impeccable form and the two together are very fun to workout with and watch. Not that Patricia doesn't have good form...but Ilaria, you can tell...lives for kickboxing.

A plus to the one side first thing, at first I tought it a bit odd but it grew on me. I'm not one to usually do only half a workout and quit so not being able to use it as a short workout by only doing half didn't bother me and the fact that you work your way up to half way and then work back down with the other side was kind of fun.

They are very basic Kickboxing drill type of workouts...no fancy choreography here, so if you like a little fancier workout, you might not care for Powerstrike.

There are so many Kickboxing videos now and they all have their own style so it's really what instructor floats your boat.

I love Cathe's Cardio Kicks, I love Powerstike and I like people like Sherri J and Terry Reeves...and IMHO, they all have a different style and offer their own twist to kickboxing. I enjoy them all. Variety is good:).

Another good cardio option might be jumping rope??? Michael O has some new videos out at http://www.goaero.com , they aren't bad.

RE: One of the things that makes Powerstrike workouts shine...

Can you get the Powerstrike workouts at Amazon or Collage? Are they suitable for beginning kickboxers? I think since I already bought myself 2 Cathe DVDs for Christmas, I will have to wait until March and put a few kickboxing ones on my birthday list. Variety is the key, but I hate wasting money on videos I hate and never use. There are so many kickboxing videos out there so it's good to get everyone's input. I just know the Tae Bo guy irritated me and there must be some other options out there. I've never done kickboxing, but want something with some instruction that won't be boring once I get the hang of it. I love jumproping but since I'm in an apartment, I can't. It was great to do when we had a basement. Anyway, I'm rambling. Thanks so much for the info.

Best bet is CKsales

You can probably find the best deal on Powerstrikes at http://www.cksales.com . You can order through them at their site http://www.powerstrike.com ..but you need patience, they are a small operation and tend to not be as efficient;-). Like I mentioned earlier...I cut them slack because I feel they're worth it;-)

As far as what's best for a beginner..hmmm, well, if you hold off till spring you'll probably get good feedback on Millenium(sp?) #3. So far, those who have the video (I'm still waiting for the DVD;-)) have said it's more controlled and slower..which might be good for someone learning form. Both women are excellent and coaching and teaching proper technique.

M3 also has gotten away from working one side first. From what I've heard...they now alternate sides throughout the workout.

Melissa,
I, also, really enjoy Janis Safell. I am VERY VERY prejudiced towards Cathe, and very seldom find anything I like as well, but with Janis's videos I've learned good form and technique. She is fun and upbeat, with good music. I got her videos off the firm swap and have kept every one. I've never tried power strike but it sounds tempting.... really, though, I can hardly wait for Cathe's NEW DVDs!!!!!
Good luck with the kickboxing! I only wish I could get Janis's on DVD.
