I am a huge kickboxing fan. LOVE Cathe's cardio kickboxing, CTX kickbox and Tae-bo. Just felt like I needed some more kickboxing videos to keep my interest. I was thinking of ordering Boxing Body T.K.O. by Debbie Burns and CIA 2K03 Kickbox Jam by Sherri Jackqlyn. I really value your opinions. Has anyone ever tried these and what did you think of them. Amy Jo

im thinking about purchasing those two videos myself too! the reviews at videofitness.com gave high marks to Boxing Body and Kickbox Jam. moreover there are very good reviews for katalin Zamiar's GIJabb(gijabb.com). have u tried keli roberts, janis saffel and aaron lankford? are they any good? i love kickboxing myself and im always open to trying out different instructors. im still basically new to Cathe- i just have her Wedding Video. however, i purchased almost all the DVDs after that :) so im still waiting for my DVDs. im sure though im gonna enjoy her kickboxing as well. ive read so many positive reviews about it!

I too was looking into purchasing Gijabb videos, I heard she teaches good form. I have tried Janis's tapes, they are o.k., can't remember the name of the tape right off hand. I really like Keli Roberts, she has some great body bar toning workouts. I have not tried Aaron Lankford yet, but heard he was good. I have most of Cathe's tape except for the older ones. She is the best instuctor I have ever seen. I'm sure you will have the urge to purchase more of her videos, she is addicting. Amy Jo

I had Boxingbody TKO, but just sold it on Ebay. I really liked the standing ab work and the plyo work, and the first boxing section, but I found her kicking/punching combos to just not work for me. It just seemed like they didn't go together as well as some.
I also liked GI jabb, but after doing Tae Bo for a while, and getting back into Power Kicks, I found the workout (workout 1) to be not intense enough. However, her intro tape is the BEST intro to kickboxing I've seen.
I've gone through about 3 dozen kickboxing videos over the past 5 years or so, so I've seen a lot. Besides those that have already been mentioned, I'll add Power Kicks by Aaron Lankford(the instructor has great form, fast technique, and a kind of "drill instructor next door" demeanor. Unfortunately, the two women who are exercising with him often have laughably bad form.) If you get this tape, don't buy it through his web site. He has awful customer service. Get it through Collage. Aaron made two other tapes, but I like Power Kicks the best.
Another one you might like is the newest one by Janis Saffell (at janissaffell.com --don't know if it's one or two "l" s in Saffel/Saffell). It's less choreographed than her previous videos, and the first section seems short, but when it's all put together, I find it to be a really great workout, especially for the butt!

RE: Boxingbody TKO

Hippychick or Amyjohauge

I have this video and I did not like it. It has only been in my VCR twice-once for preview & the other the actual workout. If you want to purchase it from me I will sell it to you. You can write me if you are interested at [email protected].

I hope that it is okay that I did this on this forum. I apoligize in advance if I broke any rules.

RE: Boxingbody TKO

I also have the TKO video and don't care for the workout. I felt the moves did not flow and the instructor is so irritating at times. I bought it based on the reviews at video fitness and was very disappointed. The best kickboxing out there is Powerstrike. While the quality is a little lacking the phenomenal and energetic workout more than makes up for it. All other kickboxing is boring to me after doing their videos. There's a thread in the open discussion here about Powerstrike to order the videos. I also hated Kickbox Jam. There is a man in the video who moves like a slug and can't keep up. It's very distracting and unmotivating. It was also too fast in tempo I thought o control your form. Hope this helps.

Well, I guess I'm going to have to be "lonely man out" here in regards to Debbie Burns TKO Boxing Body tape.

I *LOVE* this tape! She has a great upbeat attitude, the workout is fun...it DOES take awhile to get used to her cueing but then EVERYONE can't be as good as Cathe!!!

JMHO...

I have actually heard a lot of positive comments on TKO. A few months ago I decided I HAD to have it. I tried forever to obtain it from the echange. I previewed it briefly once, then promptly exchanged it. I cannot even say that I knew I wouldn't like it. I might have. I have no idea why I did not try it.
Anyway, I really like Janis Saffel's CIA 9809. I also have her 9907, but actually just tried the first section today.
9809 is not as intense as Cardio Kicks, but it is long. It is similar, with a more choreographed feel. She has a drill section like CK. I would check the streaming video out at Collage.

I do too - I absolutely love it TKO. I always get such a high after doing it. Those squats kill me. Powerstrike is awesome too.

I like Boxing Body TKO but something about the way the kicks are done sometimes bothers my knees. I love Kickbox Jam because it is intense and has interesting choreography. I tried Sherri's new tape, Fit to Kick, last night. It is less choreo, more drills. I have heard that it might appear more to those who like the Tae Bo style. I like both choreo and drills for kickboxing.

I liked TKO too

LAST EDITED ON Aug-02-01 AT 05:05AM (Est)[p]I enjoyed Debbie's TKO too and also the newer one of Sherri's..Fit To Kick. I'd get that one over her first one. Much better;-). Also, Larry Lams XKO is good as well. Shorter but good. Just basic drills..nothing fancy except the Hollywood sound stage. It has a separate Kicking tape..real short but a good tag on.

Oh...and those Powerstrikes are pretty good if you like hard intense drill work. I'm off to do one now;-)
