I didn't even know WTH he was until I heard about this story. So I'm frankly surprised, Govt Girl, that you'd think he was removed because someone didn't like his movies--is he really that well known by sight? But I readily admit I haven't seen any of his work (at least I don't think I have) so maybe there's offensive content there that I don't know about.
Still I'm going to crawl out from under my rock to comment. I heard an interview with him where he's saying f this and f that and f them and I was not impressed. From what I understand SWA has slightly larger seats than the average. He seemed to have the expectation that because Americans are fat that the airlines should build different planes to accommodate this? What? It might be a useful comment if the airlines were suffering financially simply because the seats are too small but I'm not seeing that as being the case.
I believe that he was embarrassed, and I can certainly understand that---I would have been mortified to have been removed from the plane. It was IMHO a bad combination of circumstances that wouldn't have ended badly if he hadn't been going standby and someone at the gate should have informed him that there weren't two seats available (although if you're going to fly standby it's less likely that two seats will free up----he as a frequent traveler should have been aware of that)
