The answer to this question eludes me.
On a personal note, my brother died from cancer. He was in tremendous pain for the last month or so of his life. He had enough prescription pain medicine on hand that he could have overdosed at any time. He did not choose that option, however. My feeling about what he should have done did now sway one way or another, although I prayed for a miracle almost to the end. Had he chosen to take matters into his own hands I would not have blamed him one bit. But I was in total awe of his extreme bravery in enduring the apparent pain he was in. To me, it was dignity in action. I really loved that guy and miss him so much!!!
