Cathlete
for our Thanksgiving feast - let's just say that I will not be skimping on my workouts this week. Thanks goodness that I usually only have one plate, well except for the sweet potato crunch and the jello pretzel casserole, oh yeah and the sausage balls. Ok so in reality I probably only have two plates....

When is American Thanksgiving anyway?

This Thursday, 11-26.

I can't wait! We will be hosting our family this year and will have up to 18 people here. (wow!) We are eating good. Here is a list of some of the things that we are making (and some family members are bringing):

Turkey (both a regular turkey and a smoked turkey)

Mashed potatoes (we are doing 3 versions: regular for gravy and the other 2 will have "cream cheese" add ins: sour cream & chives and spinach and artichoke. I read about this in a magazine and it sounded yummy!)

Yams

Stuffing

Scalloped potatoes

Rolls

Deviled eggs

Mushroom casserole

Corn casserole

Green bean casserole

Cranberry sauce

Baked beans

Various pies

White chocolate chip cherry cookies

Mandarin orange cake

Man, I'm getting hungry just thinking about all that good eating! ;)

Cant' believe you just made your list! I made my list and menu 2 weeks ago and had it delivered on Saturday by Peapod! (Love that service! Especially since I've been sick since Friday and haven't been able, nor wouldn't have been able, to get out since!)

Anyway, here's my menu and it's all from scratch and just my DH and myself!

Turkey

Oyster Cornbread Dressing

Mashed Potatoes

Cranberry Sauce w/Apples and Ginger

Green Beans w/Roasted Chestnuts

Tiramisu

Wine of our choosing and port with dessert! Depends on our mood the day of which wine we have!

I think I'm gonna do a tofu corndog and crack open a Schlitz.

not a bad idea still have to have my sweet potato pie though :D the only time of year i allow myself that.

LOL all that aside dh has two jobs and one gave us a spiral ham the other a turkey so my parents are coming over. we do most of it but they are bringing veggie tray and dessert. we don't mind really cooking(hey its how we pay the bills ya know) but i really love cooking for family that really are proud of what we can do. so everything we are making...

beer can turkey(yeah you are ready that right dh is the bird man but he just doesn't like it but can cook the hell out of one when he has a good idea)

spiral ham with brown sugar/honey glaze

homemade cranberry sauce

green bean casserole

sweet potato pie(with marshmallows LOL)

roasted sweet potatoes(keeping it healthy here)

fresh veggie tray(steamer on standby if somebody wants their stuff cooked)

baked mashed potatoes(dh made it at work and the college kids when crazy for it not sure what he does but it has to be good)

and whatever mom is bringing for dessert. she usually makes pumpkin pie but her store hasn't been able to get pumpkin in so we will see what she comes up with. i am not to picky. and hopefully she can get a hold of egg nog ice cream. my 10 year old loves egg nog ice cream, won't touch the real stuff but loves the ice cream LOL.
