Just Joined Weight Watchers....

Cathlete
After years of on again, off again dieting with nothing to show for it but GAIN'g 20 lbs, I decided to join Weight Watchers. I've never done anything like this before! I'm excited and a little overwhelmed. I'm doing the online PointsPlus program for 3 months. I'm just looking for any words of wisdom, tips, encouragement from anyone out there. Is the iPhone app any good?? Any other handy on-the-go books/calculators etc that you'd suggest??

Thanks, wish me luck!

WW really worked well for me when I tracked EVERYTHING. I liked tracking better on paper than online for some reason. That truly was the key for me to lose weight with the points systems. I have been contemplating going back, I eat pretty well, just too much to lose weight, and I like the updated concept they just introduced. I also liked the meetings, they were like a strange kind of therapy for me . They do have very active boards on ww.com, but imo, I find the tone to be too harsh at times, so I am more of a lurker there now, but there is lots of good info on the boards from those willing to help.

I saw some of the ladies here have started a check in thread on the check in boards if you want to check that out too.

Good luck and keep us posted with how it's going!

Hi Stacey,
I'm currently doing weight watchers and have lost almost 20lbs. I go to the meetings which keeps me motivated and accountable. My advice is to track everything you eat: "If you bite it, write it!".

Good luck!

Just joined too, I feel like there are so many materials, I bought the 2 books plus the tracker then pluse the 2 books they give you. I joined for meetings and did the monthly pass so I can get the online etools too.

At the grocery store, I ran into someone whom was doing WW cause their food was on sale my local store. It appears she buys and plans everything ahead for the whole week so each meal is pre-calc out for points. Basically, she buys to her points for that whole week for each meal and snacks/

Hi there!

I caved and just joined as well. Is there going to be a 2011 WW check-in thread? If not, how do we go about starting one? I've always done this on my own and think it would be much more helpful to have my Cathlete sisters to be accountable to.

Hi Stacy!

I thought you might find the following website helpful: http://www.skinnytaste.com/

Gina (the author) has posted many amazingly delicious recipes (most of which are relatively clean) and she always includes weight watchers points. Good luck!!

That really sounds like a smart thing to do no matter what kind of plan you follow, yeah, then you would have enough of everything for the entire week...I would really do better planning it out that way, instead of deciding day to day.
:)

yes, it was a good thing plus she cleaned out the "smart ones," though. Kinda of like Rachel Ray's "Week In A Day," show.

Yep, there's a check in!

Come on down! We're in the Check-in board. Weight Watchers - 3rd week of January is the thread I started today. Everyone is welcome. :D

Hi Suzanne! I found you guys right after I posted it!! I'm on board with ya! Still checking out the Points Plus values and am surprised at how some of my favs have changed- some good, some painful! :p

See you in the check-in!
