Just a thought, as the snow starts...

...A big snowstorm is starting which will be followed by an ice storm, then a rain storm (so the Weather Boys are telling us). Somehow, I need to drag that big bag of calcium chloride from the trunk of my car, up my walk, and onto my porch. IT. IS. HEAVY. If I do this, will it qualify as a back/core workout? My letter carrier KNOWS I work for the postal service and I know he's been annoyed with my lack of sidewalk grooming so I have to do it... Oh well. Wish me (and my back) luck. Here I go...

We just got a call from our mayor's office and all cars have to be off the road by 5 am. I think the prediction is for 6+ inches. I hate snow!

I'm in PA and it should be starting here any minute. At least according to the radar. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will be bad enough that I can stay home tomorrow. I REALLY want a three day weekend!!! :)

I'm in Columbus, Ohio. The snow finally stopped - after five hours and I have no clue how deep it is. Still, if that were the end of it I think we'd be okay. However, we're expected to start getting freezing rain at 6am (it's 2:40am here now). They're cleaning the main streets but the real hassle should be 1) trying to get into our cars, which should be frozen shut and 2) just getting out of my iced-over, slippery neighborhood streets to the main roads without having an accident. Fortunately, I don't have to be at work until 2pm so I'm hopeful...

Oh, you should have seen how I got that big bag of de-icer onto my porch. I have a rubber trash can that has handles (that thing finally came in handy) and I rolled the heavy bag from my trunk into the trash can, then I dragged the heavy can across the street- by the handles, up my walkway, up the four steps, and onto my porch. It may have LOOKED stupid but it worked - and I didn't mess up my back! There are times when not having a big, strong man around the house is a drag - but I'm working on it :)

I really was worried about injuring my back, though...

Enjoy your workouts for shoveling. I've had plenty already. For a change, the storm isn't coming here in MI.
An extra day off-that would be a dream for me.

TGIF!!

It was just starting to snow on my 3 mile walk to work this am in Boston. We're expecting 6-10. I'll be shoveling for sure. Hopefully, we can leave work early today.

I'm in southern NY and we've gotten a ton of snow already this morning and it's still coming. They originally predicted the same for us (snow, then ice, then rain) but now it looks like snow followed by wintry mix. I hope it doesn't turn to rain--it did that last week and ended up flooding my basement. :(

OK, didn't add much to the conversation, just wanted to say I'm in the group of snow-afflicted today.

Hey Lainie. From CNY here and the snow has been falling all morning and it hasn't even hit it's peak. Then of course it is supposed to start the Lake Effect tomorrow. Firing up the snow blower. But thanks for the reminder for more salt. Forgot we ran out last week with the ice all over. Out to the store I go:eek:

You should have seen us last year Lainie. Transplanted from FL after 10 years. Now we are originally from PA but boy were we shocked when we had 4 ft of Lake Effect snow at once:eek: We used the shovel for about one pass down the driveway then drove ourselves to Sears for the snow blower:7
