I have Jumpers Knee in both knees one is feeling tons better and no pain the other one is still a little pain, I was looking for some great strength exercised that strenthen the knees better, My PT has me riding a bike EVERY day for at least 10 minutes and I have noticed a HUGE differance already but I also want to make sure they really get strong, I have been looking on the net and I noticed one where you are standing and holding the lower leg up to your glutes and holding it for 5 and doing 5 times and as you get stronger hold for longer. are there more? I am slowly getting back to working out but going ever so slowly with lots more breaks. I am so affraid of hurting my knees again, I think I caught them before I hurt them really bad.

ok I sprung for the special knee brace and went to the PT to get fitted. and it is wonderfull. they also showed me special exercises I can do to strengthen my knees and I died laughing because they are almost the same as in Cathe's new Legs and Glutes!! the only thing is I lay on my side and the other one is with a ball between my legs and I squeeze the ball with my knees and squat up and down. that is so cool!!!! I am so excited I should have brand new knees after all this! I just love the knee brace it really supports my knee cap wonderfull!!! step blast here I come!!! oh yeah. I just ordered the body blast DVD's for Christmas!!! I can't wait to get them, of course I am going to go slow though so I don't hurt my knees!

Leslie, do you have ankle weights? Strengthening the quad does wonders for the knee. Start with three pounds and do leg extensions and move up. I can do twenty pounds by placing 4 5 pound ankle weight along my low leg. I sit on the a large kitchen table thats very heavy. I make sure my whole thigh to the knee is on the table securely, only the leg below the knee hangs off. Sit straight backed with abs in. Works great but is easier than lunges and squats and step ups until the muscle gets stronger.

Memo to self: Don't eat dinner at Bobbi's house.

I've been meaning to mention this guy for a while now - Pete Egoscue. Before I had neck surgery, a friend told me about his books and I quite liked him. His philosophy is that most people are "out of balance" and no amount of exercise, in an out of balance state, can relieve the problem. I don't think I quite said that right. For example, he may have you do exercises for your hips if your knees are bothering you and stuff like that. You can find him at www.egoscue.com. His only book I didn't like was the one for women. Just a thought. For the price of a paperback, you may get some relief. I know his methods helped me. Alexis

the funny thing is I used to do those leg quad exercised ALL the time WITH ankle weights, I stopped doing them because I thought I wasn't do proper exercises after doing Cathe's LOL so time to dust those babies off and do them.
I rode in the back seat up to the airport to get Hubby's brother from the airport (he came home from Iraq) and well my knee is a bit sore today from the long ride.
My brace is a Hely&Weber brace it has some thing inside it that pushes on the outside of my knee and holds it to the inside and I love it my knee cap feels great with that!! he said I should be able to exercise without it someday. They said I should have kneecaps hard as a rock with all the exercises I do for those knees LOL.
