Jogglers Sept. 2011

RapidBreath

Cathlete
Holly cow, its September:eek: I started the month off right with the cardio premix from CW.

Then, I went into town for my Apple Recruitment day interview. Its a big room event with about 45 applicants and 8 recruiters. We watched a video about how great Apple is (duh) and then were broken into teams of 2-3 people. We had to introduce our new friend to the room and explain why they should be hired by Apple. It was easy, my partner was really nice, had worked in customer service for 25 years, and is a recent Macintosh convert, all of these are qualities that the company really needs. She told them I was great because I had worked high volume customer service at Disney World and that I had been with the Apple line of products since 1984 (true.) Actually, not true, we had a Lisa before that, but nobody knows what that is anymore.

Then we watched a video about how awesome apple was and they asked us what made Apple special. Everybody said 'The products', I said (out of turn) "When you buy an Apple you join a community, thats the difference." Throughout the speech given by the head recruit (a plump woman in a black tee shirt and jeans.) they referred to me by name a couple of times because I was (apparently) the only one who (again) had been with the company since 1984. I did mention that I didn't get my Macintosh until November of that year and that I was late to the party (tongue firmly planted in cheek.)

Then we were broken into groups of 6 people. I was in group 1. We were sent to a corner in the room with a recuiter who had an ipad filled with simple questions. The first question was "Can you give an example of a customer service challenge that you have had and how did you handle it?" Three other guys got to answer the question. I said, "Oh, I wanted to answer that one." The recruiter said, "Oh, now I feel guilty, ok, you can answer it.

I told them about my work on Super Soap weekend with over 44,000 people being in the park, being reponsible for pulling 58 trash cans per hour to the tune of 60 lbs each (even then I was a Cathelete in training, and I didn't even know who Cathe was yet.)

My next question was, "Can you give an example of where you went above and beyond customer expectations."

I answered: I have been doing construction video for the last couple of years and on the project with TMCS I was hired to video a couple hours per week. I took the footage and with the plans I was able to after bringing the video into FCP (Final Cut Pro- editing software.) to add DVD chapters which I then authored in DVDSP (DVD Studio Pro- authoring software adds your DVD menus and chapters.) including a fully searchable index that you could look up by room number or date.

My last question was: Share why you would be a good Apple Team Member.

My answer: Apple because its in my DNA, my family has worked in Cupertino and with graphics software/hardware since the beginning. Team because I have worked on 18 independent film projects and assimilated well into small teams and because at the Walt Disney company I had no problem working with new areas during hurricane season when everyone was on staff.

I don't think I worded everything as succinctly as I have here. I was a little nervous. But, over all, I had a really good time. My group was fun. I listened well. I did not interrupt. (not always easy for me, but I didn't want to step on toes.)

I feel good about the whole thing. I don't know that I will get the job but I haven't heard from them yet which is a good sign, that means I have not been ruled out yet.

So. . . how was your day?

Jane- The book is about how to make your dreams come true. I'm so sorry that your corporate situation is not warm and supportive. That stinks. What a bunch of morons.

Tricia-I love the library. I think its one of my favorite places. My family has deep ties in the Placerville area and one of the libraries is named for a close family member, the Beeches. I used to just go there for hours when I was a teenager. My Dad always knew where I was and that I wouldn't been getting into trouble because I wouldn't want to leave.:p

Happy September and almost-Fall!

Jane - No worries about forgetting to post! I do that all the time, usually when I haven't worked out - like last night. At least you're still working out and you just forget! lol

Alisha - Glad you found the infection and that will be cleared up soon! You should be feeling much better in a day or two! Wow! The interview sounds intense! I would have been a total dweeb in something like that! I can never think of what to say! Sending lots of positive energy to you that you get this job!

I pre-ordered my P90X2 yesterday! Yay! Then, got in trouble for doing so even though it doesn't get charged until December AND one of my customers pre-ordered also, which is going to pay for 2/3 of mine. Go figure. Getting really tired of not being able to do anything. Oh, well. I'm the one earning the income here! (stomps foot, but only in here where I can't be seen)

Back to the workout tonight! Going to finish this week up with a little more Turbo Fire - it's so much fun! I think for the rest of September, I'm going to do Cathe's Feb. 2010 rotation. I think that's a fat-burner with short, but tough workouts. See what that can do for me and start doing a little running again. That's the new, new plan anyway! lol I keep changing it!

Have a great day you two!

TGIF!!!

I can't wait for this day to be over. Here was my workout from last night. It looked easy but was not.

3 Rounds - 45 seconds work/15 seconds rest
Kettlebell Squats
Alternating Kettlebell Chest Press
Kettlebell Figures 8's
Kettlebell Reverse Lunges R/L
Kettlebell Seesaw Press
Russian Twist

Tonight will be a 3 mile run plus I intend to play with my training rope that I bought with my birthday money. I should get it today.

Alisha ~ Thank you for sharing your experience with your Apple interview. I would hired you in a minute. You had great answers!! I hope you hear from them.

Tricia ~ You can stomp your foot here anything you want. In fact, I am stomping my foot for you too. I think we are another couple of weeks out from fall. It's hot and breezy but not too humid. The mosquitos have got me though. No bug repellent works for me.

Hope everyone has a great Friday!!!

Tricia/Jane- thanks for the job encouragements!!

I went for a 3 mile hike, burned 469 cal.:D Tomorrow will be Low Max. I don't know what I'm supposed to do today other than kitchen patrol/laundry max/pet the cat max. I should probably start studying for the LSAT again.

Jane- Its hot here too. Its supposed to be above 100 over the weekend. Training rope sounds like fun, is that a jump rope or something else?

Tricia- Feel free to stomp your foot! Besides, why shouldn't you get the P90x2?? Thats an investment in your health, both mental and physical. Remind (was it Stephen??) whomever it was that therapy is a lot more expensive than exercise and won't make your butt look good.;)

Happy Friday Evening Ladies!

Jane - I'm glad today is over for you! 3 day weekend! Yay! Unwind, have fun! Goes for you too Alisha!

I want all my workout toys NOW! Darn it! I drive right by one of the lottery billboards every day. I watch it go up and up, but never buy a ticket because I know it's pointless and all those $1 bills would add up to something better in the long run. We are going for a run tomorrow morning for certain. I don't care if we end having breakfast at lunch time. It's going to be painful, but I want and need to do it! I'll do upper body from either STS Total Body or High Reps too. A friend sent them to me on loan. It was so sweet of her to send them all the way from Ireland! I have such great Cathlete and FB friends!

Tuesday, I'll be starting a Cathe rotation for a month to see how I do so I can compare with how I do on my other workout rotations. In October, I'm switching to my running/kettlebell plan that I had before, then I'm going to start P90X again to prep for #2!

Alisha - Almost 500 cals! That's a really nice hike! I like pet the cat max! That's every day in this house and pet the pups max! Thanks for the advice! I'll remember that, especially the part about therapy not making my butt look good! That'll definitely come in handy next time! lol

Love you girls! Have a terrific weekend!

Today is Shiva Rae instead of Cathe, my shins are sore from yesterday's run/walk.

Tricia- What a really nice friend!

Jane- Hi!!

Alisha - Shiva Rae - nice! Hope your shins feel better soon!

Went for a run this morning. Felt good to run again! We took Peanut and Milo. I was so proud of Peanut! She made it 2 miles before pooping out. Got excited when I saw on my Garmin that I had burned over 500 calories, but got to thinking that it couldn't be right. Uh-huh, forgot to switch it from cycling back to running mode! lol Not sure if that was the difference, but it's the only thing that could make sense! lol

Hi Jane! Hope you're having a great day!

I took yesterday as a rest day. I will take today as a yoga day. I will be doing 4DS this week.

Tricia- Bummer! I wish it only took two miles to burn 500 cal! That would be awesome! What a good little Peanut! We'll make a cathlete out of her yet.:p:D

Sorry I've been MIA. The weekend has been busy. I ended up doing a leg workout on Friday - 7 rounds of 10 reps of back squats, Zercher squats, thrusters and sumo squats with 40# weight.

Saturday was a rest day. I had to take my car for a service and went shopping with my mom and sisters. Borders was going out of business and my sister and I bought 16 books between us and saved $183!!!

Yesterday I did a Spartan workout (listed below) with my sisters. Then I had to drive my sister to Tallahassee and back and then spent the afternoon with mom.

1 mile run
100 push ups
2 mile run
100 jumping pull ups
2 mile run
100 crunches
2 mile run
100 squats
1 mile run

I have been a slug today. I haven't worked out and probably won't. I just made chocolate chip cookies and ate a ton of dough and 3 cookies. Dinner will be light - probably just veggies.

Alisha ~ I love the weight workout on 4DS. A training rope is a weighted rope that you exercises with. It's hard to explain. See attached clip.

Battling Ropes of Death - YouTube

My sister and I did 5 rounds of 25 seconds work/10 seconds rest. It was tough. I really felt it the next day in my abs and upper body.

Tricia ~ My mom, sister and I play the lottery from time to time but nothing yet. At least it goes to education so I don't feel so bad. Yay for you and peanut and going for a run. Good job!

I'm going to spend the rest of the afternoon being lazy and will probably read. It's windy today due to TS Lee (or what remains of it). We got some rain but not a whole lot.

Hi Ladies!

Alisha - Glad you got in some yoga! Yeah, Peanut, Cathlete-in-Training! lol Enjoy 4DS!

Jane - Great workouts! Hope you're enjoying your battle ropes!

I haven't done anything since my run on Saturday! Tomorrow I start Cathe's Feb. 2010 rotation. I'm hoping to see some progress over the next 30 days! PLEASE, PLEASE keep me to my workout schedule every day! I really need to get dedicated again like I used to be! I'm gaining and I just can't seem to stop!

It's mental I know and I need to get my head right.

Hope you two had a fabulous weekend! Unfortunately, it's back to the old grind stone tomorrow!

I'm going for a long hike and then I will cool down with Stretch Max w/band.

Tricia- So. . . did you get your workout in?

See I can do accountability!:p

Jane-mmmm cookies!!! I like to make chocolate chip cookies with trail mix instead, its really good.

Alisha - YES! I sure did! I almost didn't do it because I had several stops to make after work, but Stephen wasn't going to be home before 7 anyway, so I did my Cardio Fusion workout for last night. Tonight is Butts & Guts Leg Blast Premix. It's going to be a challenge getting all the exercises together for it since I only have downloads and my Workout Blender isn't functional on my Lion OSX. I'm on my way!

Hi Jane!

no job for me

I was rejected by both Cal Ema and Apple yesterday. Sigh.:( So, I'm not employed. But, hey, so what? right, I'm in good company.

I'm not going to go eat a bunch of ice cream. It doesn't help. No point. I might go to the library. Or I might just watch really bad tV.

I did do 45 min. of yoga with Shiva Rae this morning. That felt good. And, then I read my email. :(

So. . . I really hope you two are having a waaaay better morning than I just did.

Tricia- I haven't tried Fusion yet. I think I may be the only person who doesn't own BG.

Alisha

Hi everyone!

Last night I did my lovely leg workout - 8 rounds of 10 reps each of back squats, zercher squats, thrusters and sumo squats. 320 reps total with a 40# barbell. Then I did 48 calf raises and 24 stiff legged deadlifts.

Today I will be doing the following workout:
5 Rounds
30 Sit ups
25 Balls Slams
20 Push ups
15 Swings
10 Pull ups
5 Renegade Manmakers

Alisha ~ {{{Hugs}}} Those jobs were not right for you. There is something better around the corner. Keep your chin up and hang in there. Watching bad TV or going to the library is way better than eating ice cream.

My company is always on the brink of collapse and has been this way since I've been here (5 years). I'm looking for another job but it's tough here and my salary is too good. Our region is doing the 2nd best in the company but as the whole the company isn't doing good.

Tricia ~ YAY for doing your workout!! I'm sure you will do the one you have planned for tonight as well. Great job!!!

The temperature was actually in the 80s yesterday. It felt so good. This morning it was 63 degrees and today will be in the mid 80s. We'll be back in the 90's next week so I'll enjoy it while I can.

Smile...darlings...it's Wednesday and we are all healthy and alive! :)

Hi Girls!

Alisha - :(:( So sorry! Jane is right. It wasn't meant for you. You'll find your place! Wish it could happen tomorrow! Glad you didn't drown in ice cream!

Jane - Great workout, again!

Well I did not do my work out today. Too many other things to get done. WILL do tomorrow and get back on schedule by skipping my rest day. Wish Workout Blender was working, but, alas, it's not. Guess it's not compatible with Lion OSX.

Have a good night!

Tricia- Thanks for the encouragement. Don't worry, your workout will be there for you tomorrow. I have not upgraded to Lion yet.

Jane-I definitely agree, bad tv is better than ice cream.

I took this morning as a rest day. I will do 4DS double cardio step premix tomorrow. Its really hot out side. It was 100 yesterday. I think its because summer got here late and so it has to stay late to make up for it.:D

Alisha

It's another beautiful day here. Temperatures close to 80 although it is expected to get back into the 90's next week. We are not done with summer yet!

We are going to have low key workout tonight. So we will be doing ab bridges, supermans, planks, lying down tricep extensions, chest presses, some ab work, driveway runs and farmers walk. I have it written all down at home.

I don't even know what a Lion is (except for the kind that roars)!

Tricia ~ Today is another day. Hope you get your workout done tonight.

Alisha ~ Enjoy your rest day!

This morning I only did LIS from 4DS. I also watched a webinar with Bill Capodagil from the Walt Disney company. It was fun to listen to him describe something I already know, Disney corporate culture. :p I also used my mini cycle under my desk while listening, not at any kind of a rate, more for the NEAT (non-exercise activity thermogenesis) ie the rate at which you burn calories other than doing rigorous exercise.

Jane- Its still toasty here. Lion is the latest OS from Apple. It roars. ;)

Tricia- Hi!
