Jogglers November 2013

Its going to be 76 deg. today. I'm spending the day working on the computer at home. I have moved onto the next phase, even if the rest of my team has not. I plan to do some yoga or something else today. I will be picking up my Mom from work and stopping at the co-op this afternoon. I need to remember my frozen ice packs to keep everything cool on the drive home.

Tomorrow is Mom's last day, she is officially retiring!! Yippee!!!

I took yesterday as a rest day.

Today I'm going for a run. It's is cold today (well maybe not by Tricia's standards) but cold for here. It will be in the 40's, windy and dark when I go running.

Alisha ~ You stole our warm weather! I'm glad you are moving on to another part of your project. YIPPEE for mom retiring. I wish I could but I only have 15 years to retirement.

Hi Tricia!

Evening ladies!

Wow! Almost done this week! Whew!

Alisha - Glad you are moving on to the next segment of your project! Sending be-done vibes your way! Oooh, 70s . . . I wish! I hope you got to do some yoga!

Congrats to your mom! I'm 100 years away from retirement! I'm never going to get to do that.

Jane - 40s is chilly enough, especially at night! Nice workout tonight, too!

I did get my leg workout done last night, but didn't work out tonight. I had to test my wine and put in the stabilizers and clarifiers. 2 weeks to bottling! Woo-Hoo! I haven't made a batch of wine in a while!

Have a great night and Happy Friday Eve!

Woo Hoo Mama has retired!!

Thursday was her last official day and yesterday she had to close out some paperwork. This takes a lot of pressure off me because now I don't have to go into town unless we want to. Sometimes she would get tired (Mom has lupus) and need us to come to town to drive her home. Thats a 1 1/2 hour round trip. I would never begrudge her help, it was just one of those time things. And, now I don't have to worry about making the carpool that she had, I would drop her off in the AM and pick her up in the PM. And I don't have to worry about her driving at night as her night vision is not as good as it used to be. Yippee!!!

Now all I have to do is finish this current project phase and then I'm cut loose for a little while.

I did go for a hike yesterday in my New New balances (double news there) and my toes got numb at the end of the hike. I think this means I need to lose some poundage. dang it. oh well. something to do, right? can't be bored losing weight, it takes too much focus for boredom to show up.

I did not feel very well last night. I got molded by some sesame seed sticks on Wednesday. They were fresh from the co-op but I tasted that familiar flavor. I've been paying for that mistake. Mold eats out my insides and I have to take probiotics for a couple of days to get right again.

Its nice and sunny and in the high 60s.

I spent two hours cleaning out my bedroom desk. I didn't realize how much junk I had accumulated. OMG.

I will do some yoga tonight before dinner. I need to remember to keep lunch very light so that I don't have it come up on me in a downward facing dog.

Tricia- I don't suppose that I will get to retire at all. Not at this rate. I just have to be sure I pick a job I can do even when I'm old and disabled. Hopefully healthy living and Cathes will keep me out of the latter category even if I'm in the former!

Jane- Its true, I got your warm weather. I would need a headlamp and a buddy to get me out running in the cold like that.

Alisha - Congrats again to your mom! I know that really helps your scheduling now that you wont' have to make that commute on a regular basis! Awesome!

Ugh. Hope you feel better soon!

I know what you mean about eating properly or waiting long enough before working out after eating! I do that occasionally. Today, I hadn't hydrated properly before doing legs and I felt really bad through the whole workout and woozy, but I got through it!

I know what you mean about doing something you can do into old age. I suspect I'll be a door greeter at Wal-Mart or work in a museum or something when I'm old. I certainly won't be working in legal stuff any more! Blech! I'm already over that!

Glad you are having some nice weather! We warmed up to 60 today and it was really nice! Stephen put the Christmas light out upstairs, but needs another strand. There's a section out (he checked them before putting them out) and he needs a little more to go around the side anyway. Hopefully, he'll get the downstairs lights up tomorrow or next weekend.

I didn't eat any junk food all week until today. I'm going to try to say no tomorrow and just have a green smoothie or something. I was proud that I didn't eat out at all during the week! That's progress for me!

Hi Jane! Hope your weekend is going well!

I went for a hike yesterday. I have to go to the grocery store today. I might get some yoga. I might not.

Tricia- Well done on not eating out!!! I haven't been nearly as good:eek:

Jane- How was the weekend?

Alisha

What happened to this weekend?

I worked out on Friday but I can't remember what I did. I think some running, ball slams and some speed skaters.

I took Saturday off and went shopping with the sisters to Jacksonville. We had a great time. We hadn't done that in a long time. I spent $$$ at Athleta but I got some really nice capri pants that should last me a couple of years. We didn't get home until after 5 and then we stopped off to see mom.

Sunday was a 10 mile run, chores and a trip to downtown to buy some Christmas stuff for my sister. Downtown usually isn't open on Sunday but they had a festival in town and some of the retailers opened for 4 hours in the afternoon.

Today will be a leg workout.

Alisha ~ YIPPEE for your mom!! I'm glad you don't have to make that drive anymore. I hope you're feeling better. We got our warm weather back it was in the 80's yesterday and will be today. How is the project coming?

Tricia ~ I don't eat out that much at all. We did on Saturday of course but I don't go very often. There is a new cupcake place in town and I've been eating their little cakes for my cheat meal. They are so good but pricey so I have to watch it.

We turned in the first 1/3 of the project on Tuesday. Yippee!! Now its time to finish the last 2/3s.

I will do a Tai chi dvd today.

Its 59 deg. F and its raining. I am glad for the rain. We need it.

Jane- well done on all those workouts. What did you buy your sister?

Tricia- How is it going? What kind of raw goodies did you make today?

I took yesterday as a rest day. Today will be a 3+ mile run around the neighborhood because it's dark. Yesterday I was driving home and 2 people (I think a father and son) were running on a semi-busy street without lights or reflective gear. The only way I saw them was because the truck in front of me swerved and then I saw them. This is on a road with no sidewalk or shoulder to speak off. Crazy! That's why I stick to the neighborhood.

Alisha ~ YIPPEE for being 1/3 done. Keep up the good work.

We don't really exchange gifts for Christmas but we always celebrated St. Nicholas Day which is December 6. So we are buying stuff for my sister in Illinois. We got her some lip gloss, candy, a metal thermos to take which her when she goes gardening, some kitchen stuff and some socks. I'm sure there was more stuff but I can't remember.

Hi Tricia.

TGIF!

Here is last night's workout. I used 15# dumbbells for everything (except the squat thrusts and push ups of course). This was really hard. My arms are killing me today.

Three rounds of 10 of the following

Back Row
Bicep Curl
Military Press
Back Squat
Military Press
Upright Row
Squat Thrust
Chest Press
Weighted Situp
Push ups
Then
15 Mr. Spectacular (3 sets of 5 reps)

Tonight will be some running mixed in with some other exercises. I have to figure it all out. It is 80 today.

Hope you guys have a great Friday!

Went to County records yesterday and got my great grandmother's death certificate, turns out she had a different maiden name than my mother thought. Her name was Mitchell. Had dinner at DQ, had a burger and a cone. It wasn't as good as I remember from my childhood. The cone was ok, not great. Meh.

I have some sort of skin irritation. I'm treating it with triple antibiotic ointment and washing with hibiclens. It seems like some sort of folliculitis. Its odd because I don't shave, I use an epilator so I don't have razor burn and I don't use shaving cream. I wonder if it was my lotion that interacted with my follicles. Its red around the follicles, itches, and is generally annoying. I won't be sweating until that has gone away.

I am taking probiotics and drinking kefir. I'm also taking gymnema just in case its living on sugar in my blood.

Today I will take Mom up to the social security office, they messed up something to do with her payments, and then we will stop at the credit union. I need to move money around.

I will be working on the Rocklin portion of my project Saturday/Sunday.

Jane- I wouldn't run on a busy street either. How are your arms?

Alisha

Happy Friday evening ladies!

I've been away from the forum because I haven't worked out in 3 days and I usually come here when I have the WM open!

Alisha - No new raw eats lately. Just a green smoothie here and there. So glad you are on the downhill side of your project!

Jane - You sound like you've been busy! Glad you had a nice time with your sister!

Picked up a Boston Bruins sweatshirt and waffle-style long-sleeved shirt for our Christmas party. Yes, it's sports themed this year to raise money for Boston Strong. I didn't have any sports stuff, so had to find something not too expensive that I would wear. They are vintage and I love that look!

Went to see Elvis Costello at UConn last night. He was awesome! Other than that, nothing too exciting. Getting back on the workouts tomorrow and I'm off for a whole week.! YIPPEE!

Have a fabulous weekend ladies! We're bracing for that cold front to hit on Sunday. 25 for a high in November is just wrong and I'm not looking forward to it! Going to get my grocery shopping done tomorrow so I don't have to go out at all on Sunday!

Went to Social Security yesterday, got some things taken care of at the bank, and stopped at Denny's for lunch. I am geeky. I admit it. I stopped for the Hobbit themed meal. lol. I had the hamburger and a piece of shire sausage. The sausage was too salty for me. I only ate one bite. But, I do like their burgers, they are grass fed, and I only ate part of the bun. Really, I could have skipped the bun entirely.

My skin irritation seems to be holding steady. I'm leaning towards Tai chi for today. I got Janis Saffell's Tai Chi disc from Netflix. I'm getting close to possibly giving up the Netflix. I really have pretty much everything I want in workout DVDs. I have all the Cathes, I have all my Kathy Smiths, I have all Shiva Rea.

Yesterday I did do some oil pulling and drank a cup of lemon water before breakfast.

I will be working diligently on my project through the holiday. Its all at home, on the computer. 'Back to work slave!' (Star Wars).

Tricia- I need to get back in the habit of having green smoothies. Love those.
I would share my warm weather if I could. Its in the high 60s still.

Jane- Whats the plan for the weekend? Any races?

Alisha

Happy Monday! At least it's a short week! :)

Saturday was a rest day. I was at mom's all day.

Sunday was a 11 mile run.

Tonight will be legs -- lots of squats. I hate doing it but I really see a difference in my legs.

Alisha ~ My arms feel better. Hope your skin irritation clears up. No races until December 7 when I do the Memphis Half Marathon. I am playing coach at this race as I will be running with my friend Connie who is running her first half marathon. I hope your project is close to being finished.

Tricia ~ Enjoy your week off. I only have one 5-day week left this year. This short week will be quiet. Right now there is only 5 of us here. I'm sure by Wednesday we'll be down to just 2 or 3 at the most.

I'm doing some belly dancing today. I have a Kathy Smith dvd from Netflix I am going to give a try.

My skin is still a bit itchy but not as bad. I tried washing it with baking soda last night. I had thought I would go to the doctor but now there isn't much to see and you know how annoyed they get when you show up and they don't see anything wrong with you.

Jane- Being a coach sounds like fun. Glad your arms are better. How is your Mom doing?

Tricia- How is this week off treating you? What kind of shenanigans are you getting up to?

Alisha

I didn't workout last night so night I will do my leg workout.

Alisha ~ I'm glad your skin is getting better. Mom is doing well but she has lots of leg pain which is due to the radiation that she received. She said that it takes her about 2 hours to be able to stand upright after getting out of bed. It is very frustrating for her not to mention painful. She really can't take anything stronger than Tylenol.

Tricia ~ Hope you're having a fun week so far.

What is everyone doing for Thanksgiving? We are going to mom's house and having chicken instead of turkey. We are non-conformists. My sister is making a pumpkin pie and I'm making French Silk Chocolate Pie for dessert. Yummy!

Evening ladies and Happy Thanksgiving Eve!

Alisha - Glad you're seeing that skin irritation improving! You're like me. I have more than enough in workouts, but I keep buying more! lol

Hope you get that project done soon! Have spent most of my time off relaxing until today. Oh, I did do my workouts! I've been good! Today was the first day I didn't work out, but I was in the kitchen most of the day prepping for tomorrow. You'd think I had an army to feed tomorrow, but, as usual, it's only me and Stephen! lol

Jane - Hope you got that leg workout done! I'm sorry your mom is having so much trouble with her legs! Will be sending her lots of healing energy! Very excited for you gals doing the Memphis run with Connie! Someday soon, I'll be able to go run with you guys!

Today, I prepped my raspberry-cranberry sauce, oyster-cornbread dressing and salted caramel chocolate pecan pie. Tomorrow will be the turkey, fresh bread, herbed green beans and mashed taters. And lots and lots of WINE!

Have a great night and enjoy a beautiful Thanksgiving with your families tomorrow!

I went to the doctor today. I have eczema :( Ouchie!! My poor knees have it. They gave me a cream that is supposed to work within the next 10 days. Bummer. Ouchie. Anywho, I have to do an elimination diet to determine if its something I am eating that is the trigger. The other triggers are stress and autoimmune. Both of which have taken a hit lately what with stress on the job and stress from viral infections. So, I just have to take super good care of myself.

Happy Thanksgiving 2013!!

I will be spending the holiday with my Mom. I'm glad I don't have to go somewhere or to cook. Its easy peasy. We got two turkey thighs and some potatoes to cook.

Tricia- your meal sounds delicious!

Jane- That pie sounds so decadent!

Alisha
