Jogglers March 2013

Hi Chicklets,

I just got back from the market to stock up on veggies and fruit. I got organic kale, organic parsely, organic carrots, 2 orange peppers, pineapple and seedless black grapes.

Here is tonight's workout:

5 Rounds
40 seconds work/20 seconds rest
Double KB Presses
Swings
Barfies (squat thrust to upright row)
Four Rounds
100 Jump Rope
20 Plank Taps

Tricia ~ {{{Hugs}}} I'm sorry about your job. That stinks. Why don't you try to find a new job? My sister hated her job and she looked for a long time and finally found something new. She started this week and so far so good. She is getting more pay, better benefits, more leave time and she is treated with respect. It took her 5 years but she is finally out of there. I hope today is better for you.

On the other hand, congrats on getting your run it. Hopefully you were able to run off the shit day or at least feel better in the end.

Alisha ~ I hope you find a place for your dad soon. Congrats on the fun workouts. KB and KB workouts together. Cool!

Thanks Jane! Up here it would be very difficult to find something with better pay and benefits than I have right now. In that respect, I'm in great shape. I just hate the politics and the fact that the girlfriend gets away with murder.

Besides, as long as it would take to find something else, we'll be out of here or Stephen will be working to where I can quit, regroup, then look for something new.

Today was a bit better, but I'm stressed about making sure I get in on time and back from lunch on time so badly that my appetite is suffering. Either that, or my food is just filling me up so well that I don't need as much quantity due to the quality. I don't know.

Sounds like you made out at the market today! Yay! Great workout too! My weight workouts aren't happening this week, but I'm getting all my runs in. We have snow tonight. Started just in time for the commute home. I'm so tired of it being so cold and snowing so much!

Well, tomorrow is Friday at least!

Have a great night!

Hi Alisha!

TGIF!!

I am taking a rest day today. Tomorrow is a 5K run if it's not rained out. There is only a 30% chance at race time at the moment so hopefully we can get it in.

Then on Sunday I am to do the virtual half marathon. The rain is suppose to be down to 20% by 10am so hopefully we can get it in. I wanted to get out there earlier but who knows it may be very sooner. At least I can sleep in a bit.

Tricia ~ I can understand about your work dilemma. I have great pay and benefits, no stress and left on my own must of the time but I'm incredibly BORED!! I do look to see what is out there and would be willing to take less money if the job was right but right now nothing. I'm one of those early bird people. I get here at least 45 minutes ahead of when I should be here. I do that mainly to miss the traffic and mainly because it looks good and it allows me leeway if I want to leave early. I like getting here when no one is around. It's nice.

I hope it warms up by you. I was talking to my sister in Chicago and they are freezing up there. I think it's in the 30's and it is suppose to snow on Sunday. The year I moved away it snowed in early May!!! So glad I don't have to put up with that stuff down here although it has been a cool winter/spring so far. We still had to run the heat last night.

Hi Alisha!

Jane - Hope the weather holds for your runs this weekend! If Stephen were working, I would have left a long time ago regardless of the money and benefits! It's okay. I'll make it. The way I see it, if I'm supposed to leave, something will present itself, otherwise, I'll stay until Stephen gets his PhD, then leave. At that point, I'll be able to take my time finding something that suits me better and that I'll actually enjoy doing!

Didn't run tonight. It was too windy and too darn cold! It's supposed to warm up to the mid 40s next week,so that'll be nicer! I'll be at the beginning of week 4 of training, so that'll time it just right!

We have a wine tasting tomorrow, so I'll probably not work out tomorrow either. Need to do legs on Sunday.

Hi Alisha! Hope all is going well for you!

Have a great night your two! Good luck tomorrow and Sunday Jane!

Jane- Great job on your workouts. The tricky thing about running is that a person can put on water weight sometimes from a longer run, I wonder if thats where the 4.5 pounds came from.

Tricia- Are you going to pre order the new series?

I went for a hike this morning before breakfast. Its so nice outside. We are expecting some rain next week, which is critical to keep from ending up in a drought. A drought for us is much more serious because we are on a well and once its dry, its dry.

I will do Yoga Relax tonight before bed. I will do a workout tomorrow morning. I'm leaning towards Low Max. I haven't done that one in forever and its super fun.

Hi ladies!

Hope you two have had a great weekend so far! I have no idea what's happening and why we're getting spammed so much lately. Oh, well.

I have done nothing all weekend! Enjoyed our wine tasting yesterday and have just relaxed. Going to reset tomorrow - run and start STS from week 1 again since I pretty much blew last week by not doing any weights. I at least got 2 runs in. Wednesday will be a no workout day. I have a meeting at the Swansea Country Club for the reveal of the new season's programs for ladies' golf lessons. Going to sign up for a 6-week program. Just not sure which one yet. They're supposed to explain all of the them and that should help me decide which one will be best. it's nice because they take you out on the driving range for lessons, then you go out with the instructors onto the championship course and play 9 holes with their help. Can't wait!

Pop in and say hi today if you can! Miss you ladies!

Happy Monday!

Trying to wake up. I could not fall asleep last night. It was so windy.

We managed to get the 5K in and I'm glad we did. I set a new 5K PR. I finally got into the 32 minute range but it was something like 32:57. I have to wait for the finally results. I don't care if it's 32:59 at least I got out of the 33 minute range. I took first place in my age group, my friend got 2nd and my sister 3rd. We all got trophies. My sister did her best time since 2009. So happy for her.

Yesterday we did our virtual half. We had to delay it until 11am because we had a terrible rainstorm in the morning. By the time we got out it was 72 degrees with 94% humidity and by the time we finished it was 81 degrees. Brutal. I didn't put on sunscreen and I got red. At least we did it though and we should be getting our medal in the mail soon. I think it's easier to do a half marathon in person because of the support but we will probably do the others in the series (October, December and January).

Today will be legs if my legs aren't too sore. We'll see.

Tricia ~ Glad you had fun with the wine tasting. Hope the weather will warm up. We are going to be cool - in the 60's today and then in the 30's at night. Way to cool for this time of year. Tomorrow the high is only going to be in the 50's. We still have our heat on, when we should have our a/c on.

The golf lessons sound like fun. I remember playing 9 holes with my dad once. I think I shot a 62 or something crazy like that! The last time I was on the driving range, my swing was better though. Not a big golf fan though. I like mini golf better.

Hi Alisha!

Jane - So happy for you, your sister and your friend! You all did so well! I don't know that I could run 13.1 or 26 without support! it would be hard even without those temps!

This weather is so crazy! I thought it was going to be decent today. It felt like 35 even though it was over 40. This afternoon it got really dark and cloudy and extremely windy! I ended up not running. Tomorrow is supposed to be better, but we're getting snow tonight - again! Hopefully, not much!

I had a crap weekend for food. Got lazy and ate a good bit of junk. Back on the clean, raw path today.

Not much else going on here.

Hi Alisha! I hope all is well with you!

I am resting today.

Tricia ~ It was in the 30's this morning and only 56 during the day. I am wearing a long sleeve sweater. Tonight it's suppose to be below freezing so I will have to cover my lemon tree again. I can't ever remember having a cold March like this.

I hope you warm up and don't get any snow.

Good job on getting back on the raw wagon to start out the week. Weekends are always hard. I have my cheat meal on Saturday night because that's when I want to get bad and I figure it's ok because I usually do a long run on Sunday.

Hi Alisha ~ We miss you!

Jane - After two runs this weekend, you deserve a rest! Crazy that you are having below freezing temps down your way! Luckily, the snow didn't manifest. I think it stayed too "warm" for it. We did get a little rain. It warmed up a bit today but the air still feels pretty chilly! Hopefully, we'll start seeing some warmer temps soon! We're ready to get working on the boat and get it ready to put in!

I'm back on food, but have failed to workout yet this week. Tomorrow night, I have an event for signing up for golf lessons at one of the country clubs, so won't get a workout in tomorrow either. Hope to get it back on Thursday!

I ended up with a terrible headache late this afternoon, too. I had been doing so well with not getting any. Took a couple of Advil and had dinner. I can't believe it's going to be April in a few days! Wow!

Hi Alisha! Hope everything is okay! We miss you lots!

I've had no workouts since I posted last. I was unexpectedly moving my Dad to Fairfield from LA. I picked up the uHaul on Friday. I packed up his apt. on Sunday and Monday. I drove home today. Total: 850 miles.

My eating away from home was not great but not terrible. When I'm on the road I don't eat salads or raw food because I can't run the risk of getting sick away from home. On the way down I stopped at Pea Soup Andersens for (what else?) pea soup. They have great onion rolls, I ate them:eek: On Sunday morning my Dad took us to Carrows for brunch, I had 4 oz of the prime rib, some frys, and a hot chocolate. Then, I went to Diamond Bakery which specializes in Asian delicacies. I admit it: I had a pork bun, a coconut cream, and a red bean paste treat over the last couple of days. I don't go there hardly at all, so when I'm in Monterey Park, I do get one or two (ok 4!). I was working really hard to get my Dad all packed up. He had to work the whole time, so it was just me and my brother, Britt. Britt has not been well, he has been really sick to his tummy and having bad migraines with auras (spl?) for over two weeks. But, he came anyway to help me make sense of all of Dad's electronics. I skipped dinner twice. I had one dinner as a salad bar at Sizzler, mostly just eating salad and melon. On the way home today I just had some plums for breakfast, a pair of burgers (skipping the top bun) for lunch, and some meatloaf/squash for dinner. I did splurge on a chocolate milk.

Needless to say: I won't be weighing in for over four weeks. I need to get the edema out of my legs from driving so much, the fat off my tummy from too many carbs, and I need to get some serious mileage on my feet to burn it off. I am happy to report that my 'appetite adjuster' meditation seems to be working. I found myself naturally eating a lot less food and thinking about whether or not I was actually hungry or if I was just eating out of habit, because it tasted good (Asian buns!), or because its the social thing to do (I actually skipped eating out and opted for rest twice!!). Now, I'm probably not any thinner yet, but I am definitely getting my head in the game.

I'm so sorry I wasn't able to let you guys know where I was or how things were going. I didn't have internet access. My new DVDs arrived while I was out of town. I haven't even opened the shrink wrap yet.

I will get to personals tomorrow. I didn't want to miss checking in.

Hi Ladies,

I will be doing a 4 mile run after work.

Tricia ~ I hope the warm up will come soon for you guys. At least you didn't get snow. We are supposed to get up to 63 today and down to 35 tonight and then it continues to get warmer every day so hopefully no more 30's for us.

Alisha ~ So glad to hear from you. Tricia and I were getting worried.

I wouldn't get too upset about your eating habits while traveling. That kind of eating should be your exception (which it is) not the norm. When I went to Myrtle Beach in February I put on 4 pounds but once I got back into my normal eating habits I lost 5 pounds. It will be the same for you.

Busy at work today so see you guys tomorrow.

Alisha - Glad everything is okay and you were just really busy! We wondered and worried! At least you have him moved! Traveling eating is tough! Sounds like you didn't do too badly! If I have access to a place I don't normally get, I splurge too! It's worth it! Now, you can get back on track and into your routine again! Yay!

I'm really sorry about your brother's health. Has he been evaluated by a doctor? He really should if he hasn't! Sending healing thoughts and energy to him!

Jane - Hope you had a nice run tonight!

I haven't worked out all week! Between just being tired on Monday, having a headache yesterday and my golf event tonight - bubkus! I'm getting back on it tomorrow! We hit 50 today! Yay! AND, it felt warmer! We've been getting warmer temp-wise, but the air felt a lot colder until today. It was nice! We're still getting cold nights, but at least it appears we're warming up during the day. I'm going to run tomorrow, lift on Friday and Saturday, break Sunday and pick back up on Monday. I'll be on week 4 of my Zombies, Run! 5k app. I'm a bit skepitcal about the training schedule. I was up to a one minute run, but this week, it looks like it backs off to 30 seconds again. I'm not sure how they thing that, plus free form runs works. We shall see.

I'm all signed up for my lessons. 5 weeks starting in May. Hope I see some good improvement! I'm not looking to go pro or anything. I just want to get a little bit better!

Glad to have you back Alisha! Good night you two!

Happy Thursday night! I'm so looking forward to tomorrow being over! We'll be busy with real estate closings, which is good, but I am ready for the weekend! Still haven't worked out this week. Been eating raw mostly with just evening meals cooked. Today, I ate 100% raw. Had an amazing Asian Red Pepper Noodles dish! I finally found my raw food niche! So many other recipes I've tried have been okay, but just not flavorful enough. Rebecca makes some amazing recipes and they are always quick and easy to duplicate or modify!

Very happy with this program!

Hope you two are doing well!

I forgot to post yesterday. Here was my workout. This was fun!

5 Rounds
10 lunges with kettlebell (10 each side)
10 push ups
10 sumo squats with kettlebell
10 jumping jacks
10 jump squats
12 kettlebell swings
10 push press with kettlebell (10 each side)
10 squat thrusts

Here is tonight's workout:
4 Rounds
50 Rope slams
25 Jumping Pull ups
50 Russian Twists
200m Run
Driveway Farmer's Walk - 1x up and back

It has been really quiet today at work. Now only 3 of us here until closing.

Tricia ~ I'm glad you are enjoying the raw program that you are on. Great job!

Hi Alisha!

I worked all day yesterday. I didnt' get to a workout. I had some sort of GI yuck from travelling a lot so that sort of explained why I didn't feel up to a workout. I will definitely be back at my workouts next week. The good news is that my toe is better. I just noticed this morning in the shower that it didn't hurt at all:D

Tricia- My brother has not been to see a doctor. He is under care for his meds and they have seen him in the past for his panic attacks they have him on meds for the panic, migraines, and depression. Unfortunately, I think that the meds make him worse but he is emotionally attached to them and not willing to try some other form of treatment for his depression. He acquired it after our cousin died from cancer in 2001 on Good Friday morning. He hasn't been right ever since. I think the meds make him have the sleep disorder, which is why he can't work a normal job because there will be days in a row where he is nonfunctional. The whole thing sucks. The meds have also caused him to be obese, which is a known side effect. Its really not much of a solution at all. He is a good person but I think he is trapped by his own limiting belief that has kept him dependent on meds that don't even prevent the panic attacks and aren't really treating the depression and certainly don't make him functional. Thanks for the healing thoughts. I really appreciate it.

Your noodle dish sounds super tasty!!! Great job on your running!

Jane- Great job on your workouts. We have been having warm weather and warm rain. Where I live we get too much frost for lemons to survive (without bringing them inside.)

Alisha

Alisha - Traveling can really mess up the digestion! I'm sure you'll be back to normal soon! Sorry your brother is in such a bad loop! I'll continue to keep him in my thoughts and send him healing every day!

Jane - Those are some awesome workouts!

She is going to have an ongoing group that will start with us. I'll have to see how much she is going to charge though. I love her recipes and her attitude towards raw. I really click with her and her program! Hope it'll be affordable!

If either of you are interested in trying any of the recipes I post, let me know! She has a free app called Shine on Raw for smartphones, but I could also just post them here for you.

I have written this week off as far as workouts go, but am back on plan on Monday! I'm going to get in some cardio over the weekend too.

Have a great night and enjoy the holiday weekend!

Happy Easter!

Haven't done much this weekend, but am going grocery shopping later. Hoping the Easter rush is over and I can shop quietly and leisurely for my smoothie ingredients! Have plenty of stuff for my recipes. I'm so off menu, but am picking and choosing what moves me on any given day! The good thing about that is, because I shopped from a list, I am not surprised by missing any ingredients when I go to prep! I run into that a lot when I don't plan well.

May try to get in a cardio today. We shall see!

Hope you two are enjoying a wonderful day!

Weather has been absolutely gorgeous this weekend! It's supposed to cool off for a couple of days, then we get real spring weather again! Yay!

Today is Easter. Today is also my brother's birthday. Yeah! Anyway, so no workout. But, no cake either. Our well pump is not working so no water. Bleh. Sad :( No workout. :(

Tomorrow I will go to my Dad's new apt. to help move him in and I will workout (they have a gym!), and take a shower. Yeah! I will start the day with a green smoothie. Unfortunately, I can't do any dishes:(

I plan to do a meditation tonight before I go to sleep. I kind of felt weird and tired this afternoon so I took a nap. My hands were tingly, I don't know what that was about, and I just had the hiccups (no booze). That means my blood gasses weren't quite right. Bleh. Oh well. I'm feeling a bit better now.

Tricia- I am back on plan tomorrow too. I will get that free app. I definitely need more raw meals.

Jane- How was your Easter?

Alisha

Happy (day after) Easter!

I did not workout on Saturday. Sunday morning I went for a 8 mile run it was good. My sister has lost 10.5 pounds since January and all of sudden her running has gotten better. She ran really good yesterday.

Easter was nice. It was just the family and a close friend. We had lunch and laughed a lot. That was it. Kinda quiet but that is fine with me. I was tired yesterday.

Tonight will be a leg workout. It will be the usual squats plus some walking lunges, deadlifts and calf raises.

Alisha ~ Hope you get a workout in today. I hope the well pump gets working again. No water = :(:(:(.

I hope your brother had a good birthday and that he is feeling better.

Tricia ~ I'm glad the weather was nice this weekend.
