Jogglers January 2013

Evening ladies!

Jane - What a workout! Yowza! I hate steep hills! There was one right before the end of the MCM 10K/Marathon and I started it running, but had to walk a bit then finished it running. That sucker was hard! At least your hill was midway! I didn't get a downhill recovery though. Yeah, I don't trust traffic here either. Too many people texting and driving and just not watching where they are going!

Alisha - Glad you got a workout in the other day, but darn on the foot owie! I've stepped on glass before. No fun! That thing hurt even after I got the glass out and it still felt like there was something there for a couple of days. Glad it was better today. Sorry about your brother and mom both being sick! Hope they are better soon and you don't end up with anything! There's way too much illness out there right now. I love my green smoothies! I wish I had a juicer too! Would love to grow and juice wheatgrass! It's so great for you! It's expensive to buy wheatgrass and you really can't just eat it. It needs to be juiced.

Got my workout done today. Did All Out HIIT and Core 1. I'll do better starting next week since Stephen will be in school. The workouts are short enough that I should be able to just about finish before he gets home on his early days. Yes, he will still have night classes this semester. Starting next fall, he won't any more! Yay! No classes either! Woo-Hoo! Just research and teaching.

Anyway, I made a turnip soup in my Vitamix for lunch yesterday and it was awesome! I'd never had turnips before and was skeptical. I must say the recipes Brandi comes up with for these 28-Day Raw Foods on a Budget Bootcamps are wonderful! I just cut up my turnip and pear in the morning and put them in a baggie and measured out the remaining ingredients in a bowl before leaving for work in the morning, then, at lunch, just threw it all in the blender and - Voila - in just a minute, I had a nice warm, raw soup. It was filling and held me over all afternoon. I'm glad I did her first bootcamp! Now, I get a year's worth for free and can keep getting the recipes! Quick and easy is her motto and I love it!

Okay, I'm going to go try to stay warm. I still have half an hour before the babies get fed, then I can eat! Salmon tonight! Yum!

See you tomorrow!

Alisha - With raw foods, it's about temperature control so you don't lose much of the nutrition. No higher than 110 degrees otherwise, you start to lose nutritional value, plus, in one minute, you're not going to cook it, but it does slightly warm the food. Other ways to make it warm without cooking is to add warm water to the soup instead of cold. Room temperature is best. This helps more during winter in cold climates.

Rest is good if you're tired.

I did Cardio Leg Blast and I had a good workout with it! I usually dread legs and hate it. Okay, I still dreaded it before I started, but once I was going, I had good energy and didn't have to take as many breaks today. Actually almost enjoyed it! Almost! ;)

Glad tomorrow is a holiday! I'm going to start Stephen's Tardis afghan - finally! That'll be what I spend the rest of the day doing other than putting the wine into secondary fermentation today.

Hi Jane!

Happy Sunday!

Yesterday I did a 10K run in a park in a nearby town. I did this one last year and now I remember why I came back. It's a nice run on a trail, through a campground and near water. You even run past animals (emus and goats). There is a killer short but steep hill in the middle of mile 4. There was a lady in front of me that chose to run it but she had to stop in the middle and walk the rest of the way. It is very steep. I didn't even try to run it. Then you make 2 left turns and you run down the other side. I flew by that lady on the way down and never saw her again. By the time you get down, you are already at mile 5 so it's a cruise to the end. I ended up coming very close to my 10K PR ever but I have to wait for the results to be posted to see the actual time. I did PR the course by at least 4 minutes.

Today was a 10 mile run. I felt good for the most part but then my legs started hurting at the end and I had to walk for a bit. I have a half marathon coming up in February otherwise I would have stayed in bed this morning.

Alisha ~ Hope your foot is better! I'm glad you are taking a rest day. Some days you need to just rest.

Tricia ~ The soup sounds really good. I've never had turnips. I'm happy you got your workout in as well. Sounds like you are having a good weekend.

Happy Monday evening! Not really. It means I have to go back to work tomorrow. Boo!

Jane - Nice run on your 10K and your Sunday run! I couldn't do that much mileage two days in a row even when I was running regularly! Awesome! Great workout today too!

Made it through 3 days of workouts in a row! Woo-Hoo! Got mad today because Stephen wanted Wendy's and, yes, I ordered too, but this is the straw that broke the camel's back (and my gut)! I always order a spicy chicken sandwich with NO MAYO - always! They never get it wrong. Well, they did today. Didn't find out until I was home, so I didn't bother going back. Ruined my whole day! I was looking forward to that sandwich! I had to scrounge something else and, well, it's not rocket science! I think this is twice in as many weeks that I ordered food and it was wrong. The last one was at Panera. I'm done. I refuse to eat out any more! Not everyone eats food as it is presented. A lot of people make special requests, otherwise, it would ALL be pre-prepared and sitting under heaters and they wouldn't need cooks during hours. I am done eating out. It's not worth the bad mood and money down the drain when I can't eat it! I know Stephen will, but still, then I have to find something else or go back out.

Well, I guess that's one way to break the habit.

We're hitting really low temps this week and I'm not looking forward to it! Stephen goes back to school tomorrow too. I'm so done with winter. Is it summer yet? Waaaaahhhhhh!

Hi Alisha! Hope you've had a nice day!

I did 30 min. of Belly Dancing and then 30 min. of Dance off your belly with Petra Kolber. I will workout tomorrow.

My brother is not well. He probably should see the doctor. He has not been able to digest well for over two weeks now. He is losing weight really fast. He is not able to eat hardly at all. He is very depressed. :(

Tricia- Great job on your workouts!! 3 days is a lot!!! I hate it when the restaurants don't get the food right  I am also at the point where buying commercial food is hardly the party that it used to be. I am enjoying my smoothies at home though. That reminds me: I sure could go for an orange smoothie!! Does that Tardis afghan have a Dr. Who Tardis on it??? Thanks for the info about the raw foods.

Jane- Congratulations on the race PR!!

Alisha

I am resting today. I am very sore from last night's workout.

Tricia ~ I rarely eat out so I can't say that I had the problem that you had. When I do eat out, I really don't expect much in the way of food unless it's a local favorite restaurant but they never disappoint me.

Congrats on the workouts. Keep it up, girl!!

Alisha ~ How is your brother today? Will he go to the doctor? It sounds really serious. I am keeping you guys in my thoughts and prayers.

I'm taking a rest day. I'm sore. I also have a lot of work to do. I will workout tomorrow.

Jane- Britt didn't want to go to the doctor. He is eating more and feeling better. If he isn't better in a couple of days, I will insist that he goes to the doctor.

Alisha

I am going for a 3 mile run tonight. It's getting lighter here at nights but still not comfortable going for a longer run in the dusk. I don't trust people driving around here even when I am lit up like a Christmas tree.

I just walked outside to get the mail and I saw our copier repair guy. He told me that I was looking very fit. :)

Alisha ~ I'm glad your brother is feeling better and eating. Enjoy your rest day.

Hi Tricia.

What? I didn't check in last night?

We are freezing to death up here! It's going to last through the weekend! :(:(:(

I hope I make it! I hate this bitter cold!

Alisha - I'm sorry about your brother! He really should see a doctor even if he's doing better. He doesn't want to mess with digestive issues and I don't even want to think of the worse possibilities. Try to make him go. Better safe than sorry!

Yes, the Tardis blanket is the Tardis! Same shape, colors, etc. I can't wait to finish it! I'll try to post a pic of it when it's done!

You've really been pulling out some oldie workouts! I'll bet the outfits are hysterical! I laugh, but I know I used to wear them too!

Jane - Hey, is the repair guy young and cute? Single? ;)

Yeah, I know. I should know better than to get fast food. It's the habit I've been trying to break and I believe it is GONE now!

I've been watching the sky too and am getting excited about the light! Hoping to get back to running next week. It is way too damn cold this week and I think I would risk frost bite anyway.

Today was Day 5! Did legs, but I skipped the Barre work at the end. I was getting cold since this workout isn't very dynamic and a lot is done on the floor. Brrr!

I have done all raw for breakfast and lunch this week and fish for dinner. Today was a 100% raw day! I'm eating my turnip soup as I type. Well, not exactly at the same time!

Not sure what I want for lunch tomorrow yet. I have to check out my recipes and see what I can pre-fix in the morning and throw together quickly at lunch. We'll see. Not sure about dinner tomorrow either. We're out of fish. Ugh. Hm. Tomorrow might be a bust. We shall see.

I'm craving soup. Warm soup, but I don't have anything to make soup. Guess it's this really cold weather! Duh! :p

Well, better eat my soup before it freezes! See you guys tomorrow!

Tricia- Its ok if you forget us :(( sniff sniff I see how it is, you have lots of cuddle buddies, between the pups and Stephen you barely need us. . .ok I'm over it:p )

I'm such a joker lols.. .

I wish you were at my house, its nice in the 60s. It didn't even rain last night.

When you finish the Tardis blanket, post a picture on the facebook or somewhere and I will link back to it.

I love the old workouts, they crack me up. I always feel so stylish comparatively speaking! I will say this: I never wore butt floss.:D

Viva la Raw!! It sounds like you are on a roll!

Jane- How about that repair guy? I know that you are fit!!! Check out all those PRs you have been setting! The trick with guys is to run circles around them and occasionally let them catch you;)

I started the day with a visit from the plumber to give us an estimate on a tub repair and toilet install. I hope to get my tub back. I want to take baths. Sigh. I miss my tub. :( The plumber was super cute, tall, slender, very sweet (totally married) Later in the afternoon, we are getting another estimate on the siding/window replacement.

I will be doing a combo of step/Hi/Lo this afternoon and a Shiva Segment. I need to do a meditation before bed. I will do Taebo tomorrow.

Alisha

Here is tonight's workout:

6 rounds of 20 seconds work/ 10 seconds rest at each station.
Complete all 6 rounds before moving on to the next station.

Tricia ~ I hate to tell you this but it's in the 70's here. Sorry. I'm trying to send you lots of warm thoughts and I'm blowing as hard as I can to get the warm air to head North. I'm strong but not that strong.

The copier repair is nice but it's a bit young...like he could probably be my son, maybe.

It is getting lighter out at night because I wore my headlight last night but didn't get have to turn it on. Got home at around 6:25 and it was not pitch dark out.

Alisha ~ I get dizzy running in circles. :p Have fun with Taebo. Always have a soft spot for those workouts as they start me on my fitness journey 14 years ago. I'm feel so old now.

Hi girls!

Alisha - LOLOL! :p

I must have been abducted again because I could swear I hadn't missed a day! I sure wish I had proof! ;)

Sounds like you had a busy day! I hate to admit that I DID wear butt floss!

Jane - Great rounds! I know what you mean about feeling old! The cute ones are way too young now! Not that I'm looking, I just mean that they are like babies now! When did we get so old?

Thanks for trying to send warm air! I appreciate the effort. We'll actually hit the 20s tomorrow! Woo-Hoo! We'll only be down to around 10 tomorrow night too! Warming up a bit each day after tonight. Back in the 40s by next Tuesday. It's taking way too long for my taste!

I'm too cold to work out tonight. It's Burn Sets Bi's and Tri's, but there's not enough movement to keep my body heat up enough on such a cold night. I almost froze last night doing legs! So, I am switching up my rest day and taking off tonight and pick up tomorrow. Hopefully, it'll be a bit warmer in the house when I get home from work. If not, then, I'll put on my long-sleeved, technical shirt that I wear running and a t-shirt over and maybe that'll get me through!

I even stopped at the fish market for clam chowder! I need warm food tonight! Only one raw meal today. Back to two tomorrow.

I think that's all I have for now. Enjoy your nice temps ladies! 55 days until spring and counting! :(

I did a mish mosh this morning:

10 min. Standing Abs with Kathy Smith's Tummy Trimmers
20 min. Cardio Time Saver Kathy Smtih Hi Lo
10 min. Dance off the Belly Fat with Petra Kolber.

I plan to do some yoga tonight before bed.

We are going to get another plumber out for another estimate.

Alisha

forgot to be social

I forgot I was going to do Taebo this morning lols, I couldn't remember what I had said yesterday.

Jane- I get dizzy running in circles too. I can't see myself as a cougar either.

Tricia- I'm blowing!! Nice 60 degree air your way.

TGIF!!

I am leaving work at 4:30 today so I can go grocery shopping and then workout. I don't want to go shopping tomorrow.

My workout for tonight is:

10 Rounds

10 Swings
20 Push ups
200m Run

I finally got the results from the 10K I did on Saturday. I missed my PR by 4 seconds!!

Tricia ~ With both Alisha and I blowing you should be warming up there soon! :p

I don't know if I could workout in the cold. It would be hard to fight that natural urge to hibernate.

Alisha ~ I like the mish mosh. Sorry you have to get another estimate. Hope this one is better. I know of a good plumber but unfortunately he is too far away.

Happy Friday Night and Wine Night ladies!

Alisha - Too funny! No matter! A workout is a workout and getting it done is all that matters! Taebo or no Taebo.

Hope you find a plumber you like with a good price along with him soon!

Jane - I like that workout! Simple, but intense! Darn that you missed your PR by so little! Sugar! That's okay, there's always next year!

Stephen's playing Assassin's Creed, so I'm resting tonight too. I was ridiculously busy this afternoon. I don't know how that happened! By the time we left to go home, I was exhausted! I could take a nap right now.

I think your blowing is working! We hit 27 today and only down to 15 tonight and it'll all be over by Monday! I think your blowing is just taking a while to get here! :)

So, I busted butt all week with workouts - 5 days in a row and my food has been pristine. 1 lb. That's it. 1. Did I say 1 lb.? I'm disgusted. Not sure if it's the short cardio or my age, or what, but damn! Sorry, I swore. I'm mad.

Do I need to just do longer cardio? Do only cardio? Go on a water fast? What? I mean, what? Why did it work so well last time and now I can't get anywhere? Damn I should have forced my way through the burnout. :(:(:(

I'm going to see if a personal trainer friend of mine does free consults and see if we can talk this out. I'm going to go through the whole rotation, but I start week 4 of XTrain and I don't feel like I"m getting anywhere.

Enjoy your Friday night ladies. See you tomorrow!
