Hi girls! Sorry, sorry, sorry! I missed so many days!

Jane -:eek::eek::eek::eek: Yay Vitamix!:eek::eek: You're going to love it! Right now, my favorite green smoothie is a few collard leaves, 2 apples, 1 or 2 dates 1 banana and as much water to blend it to your desired consistency. I like mine a little on the watery side. When they're too thick they kick back and dump in my lap. Not pretty! My other fave is kale or spinach, pineapple (fresh cut) a sprinkle of cayenne pepper, sometimes a kiwi and water.

Great kick butt workouts this week Jane!

Alisha - I know I will warm up once I get started! lol It's just getting there! Ha, ha! I've been doing better! Almost done with week 2 of XTrain. Loving all the workouts except I hate doing legs! At least Cardio Leg Blast is short! Hard and exhausting, but it moves fast. The other leg workout does too, but it's longer. I'll being doing that one tomorrow. Today is my rest day. Stephen is in the kitchen making sushi for dinner.

I had a fabulous raw meal last night! It's from my raw food bootcamp I'm taking. I had a squash riced in my food processor with rice vinegar, cinnamon, salt and chopped garlic. I think that's all. Maybe a hint of honey/agave. Spicy almonds - slivered almonds with 1 tsp of stoneground mustard, salt and agave. Delish! Kale salad made with rice vinegar, salt, hemp seeds, chopped avocado and olive oil. The meal had a lot of salt, but at least it was sea salt and I controlled how much I used in each. I'll definitely be making this one again!

All in all, it's been a good week! It's supposed to rain tomorrow, but be in the 50s! Pretty and nice on Sunday, too, so I'll be taking the camera out for a stroll somewhere.

Alisha - I'm glad I don't have to worry about socks anymore! I just throw my Vibrams on!

The camping trip was crazy! He carried a 50 lb. pack and wore my snowshoes and he still fell a few times from sinking through the powdered snow in spots. He had a walking stick with him too! His phone battery froze up on the second morning so he couldn't call/text me and I couldn't track him until he was in the car on the way home and it had warmed back up. He is one crazy man!:confused: He enjoyed it though, go figure. He's very sore now, but slowly recovering. He got home around 9 p.m. Wednesday night. I really can't believe this whole week got away from like this! Last night, I worked out, then washed dishes and prepped my dinner, cooked Stephen pasta for his spaghetti and by the time I sat down to eat it was almost 8! That's what's so hard about working out at night now! Each item in my meal didn't take long to fix, but having to follow the recipe slowed me down and DANG IT ALL squash is hard to cut and peel! If either of you have any hints, I'll take them! That took the longest! Just getting the darn squash ready to process! Whew!

Anyway, have a great night and a wonderful weekend!

Any races this weekend Jane?

Power outage

Again! I skipped my workout because the power was out yesterday. Today is Belly Dancing.

Jane- We won't be seeing anything that warm for a while. Good job on your workouts.

Tricia- Your Stephen is something else! Well, I guess that snow didn't stand a chance! Good job on your workouts. What kind of squash are you peeling?

Alisha

Belly Dancing was fun. I did Jillian's 'kickbox' workout. It was simple calisthenics and some kick boxing. She didn't really go into form at all, but I already knew what to do because I learned it from Cathe;) I will do something tomorrow.

I hope that you two are having a great weekend.

Alisha

Hi Alisha! Darn those power outages! They really cramp our workout style, don't they? Need a generator just for our workouts! lol

I was peeling a buttercup squash, but it doesn't matter what type it is, they are so hard to peel! They take forever! Since I prep them raw, I can't just cook them some and peel them. Any ideas?

Just finished XT Legs and Rear Delts - the 80 minute version. Ugh. Did not really have the energy for it and I was going to cut it short, but once I finished the floor work all that was left was barre, so I said, what the hay, and did it. Was going to put off rear delts, but figured the same thing! Ended up doing it all! I'm wiped out though. I was supposed to do this on Friday. I've been slack. I have got to stop that! I get on a good roll, then take 3-4 days off. I'm not going to get anywhere like that! Well, at least I'm still going!

Shower, lunch, start my wine fermenting, then start crocheting the Tardis afghan. It's going to be a bugger! Hope I can figure out how to use those yarn bobbins! There are a lot of color changes even though it's basically 3 colors! I'll let you know how it goes!

Hi Jane! Hope you're having a great weekend!

Tricia- Cut them into manageable sizes, then peel.

I am taking a rest day. We have a lot of things to do around here, mainly data entry/sorting. I could, I just didn't feel like it. Maybe I will hike later, we shall see.

Alisha

Sorry I did not get to check in over the weekend. It was a busy one.

I did not workout on Saturday.

Yesterday was a long run. Then at mom's most of the day and then in bed before 8pm. I had to get up this morning at 2:45am (yes that's right) to take my sister to the airport. I've been at work since a little after 5am. Yikes! I'm leaving early...probably around 3:30 or so.

I still want to workout tonight so unless I'm too tired to pick up a weight I'm planning to do an upper body weight workout. I can't remember the whole thing but I got it picked out already.

Not much else to report. It's still warm. I think it might be 80 today.

Alisha ~ Enjoy your rest day.

Tricia ~ My Saturday lunch was made in the Vitamix. It was good but I have to add more water. It was a little too thick for me. I put in some spinach, pineapple, green grapes and a banana. I might have one for dinner tonight. We'll see what I have leftover in the frig.

Alisha - Hope you were able to get at least a hike in today! I'll try that with the squash. Another girl said she just cuts it in half, scoops out the seeds and uses a spoon to get the flesh out.

Jane - No sweat! Busy is busy! Ugh, you started early, early today! Yuck! Yeah, you do have to play with the amount of water. I don't like mine really thick either. Today, I blended spinach, 1 banana, frozen raspberries and frozen strawberries. It was delicious! Oh, I added 2 dates for sweetness and 1 tsp. of maca powder. Typically, about 1 and 1/4 cup of water gets mine to the right consistency, plus or minus just a tad depending on how much stuff I throw in there! lol

I did Hard Strikes tonight with my new boxing gloves. Wow, that adds a whole new dynamic even though they're only 12 oz.! I couldn't pull up my pants when they were sliding down, I couldn't drink my water, I pulled my glassess off accidentally once, too! That is another issue with wearing gloves! lol I like them though. They add a bit of weight, but not too much.

My glutes, hams and calves hurt today from legs yesterday. That workout really kicks the backside good!

I have All Out HIIT tomorrow, then Wednesday is a rest day. Just gotta make sure I get back on it Thursday!

See you ladies tomorrow!

I did not get any workout in yesterday. I was busy all day. We didn't get home until after 6:30 and then it was time for dinner (black bean/tomato soup and strawberries.) I did my 'Tantric Toning workout this morning, which isn't nearly as much 'fun' as it sounds its a mixture of tai chi and yoga. I will do something tomorrow.

Tricia- The gloves look like fun, but I have to drink water, I get so darned thirsty. Which HIIT are you doing?

Jane- You are a really nice sister to drive your sister to the airport at that hour. I think I would have said 'cab it.' Great job on your workouts.

Alisha

Hi Alisha! Well, some days are like that! Ugh, yoga. ;)

Dinner sounds like it was delicious! I was supposed to do the whole All Out HIIT tonight. One is floor with sliding discs, I think. I've only done it once and the other segment is step. I have a screaming headache and can't bear to jump around when it's this bad, so I'm pushing it to tomorrow. I'm starting to get headaches every afternoon at work again. :(

I have a boob smashing appointment tomorrow, so I'm calling in sick. I'm tired of getting dragged through the mud on the rare occasions I have an appointment, so this is how I'm doing it now. I always get the third degree and it's never a convenient time. I'll be able to do both my HIIT and CSB tomorrow. We're also supposed to get 2-4" of snow between midnight and 3 pm tomorrow. I'm not looking forward to driving into the city!

Well, that's all I have today. Stephen's making some sushi for dinner. Maybe after I eat, my head will feel better.

Hi Jane!

Last night I did a kettlebell upper body workout. I took a rest day tonight. I'm still tired from yesterday and work was so boring.

Alisha ~ I am a very nice sister. :p Besides I work where she was going so it worked out good.

Tricia ~ I hope you feel better! I sometimes get headaches at work but I think it's because I'm bored. Once I get home I'm fine.

That's crazy that you get the third degree about appointments. I'm the only admin person but I can take appointments whenever I want. Actually my boss is coming to the office tomorrow and Thursday and I have to leave early on Thursday to get my hair cut and I'm leaving Friday early to pick sister up at the airport. They don't care as long as you make the time.

Jane - I'd love to come work where you do! Unfortunately, they seem to be having issues. How is that going anyway?

It's nice not to have to worry about stupid stuff like appointments. I even get nervous just asking for my vacation days! It's no way to work. I had decided to do sick days for these things last year, but didin't initiate until this time. It snowed last night. We got about 4", but it was wet and heavy so that mashed it down. Stephen didn't have to shovel much and it's already melting a lot. We are supposed to be getting rain too. It'll all be gone by tonight or at the latest in the morning. Commute will be icy for those on the roads later. Glad I'm not going to be one of them!

Went for my mammo today. They were busy! Glad I took the whole day. The other girls go someplace different and they never take very long, but I go where my doctor recommended. She likes their work there and so do I.

Only one more appointment for this year and that's my GYN in July.

Milo went in for blood work yesterday. Stephen set it up and took him. I usually just ask for a tech visit to save money, but he saw the vet. I guess it's a good thing. He now has a heart murmur. She rated it 3 out of 6. I have to look that up. So, Milo is now on seizure meds and 1/4 of an 81 mg aspirin every other day. Poor baby! She doesn't want him out running any more, but that's like taking an elite marathoner and telling them they can never run again - ever. It will destroy him! He gets so joyful and happy. I wish you could see his face when it's time for a run and when he gets home! So excited!

She recommended an echo, but it's $300. We're going to wait and see how it goes until his next appointment before we schedule that. He didn't have the murmur, or it was too weak for her to hear last visit just a few months ago.

Only a few more days and Stephen starts classes again. I'll be counting this semester down! It'll be his last one where he has to take classes. He'll take his final comprehensive exam over summer and all he'll have to do after that is research, write and teach. We'll be on the downhill side! Yay!

I'll be getting my workout in later after lunch.

Have a great afternoon!

Hi Alisha!

Tricia- I hope that your head is feeling better today. Hugs. Sometimes heart murmurs get better, mine did.

Jane- Good job on your kettlebell workout.

I am taking today as a rest day. We have the linoleum guys coming and I'm tired. I will workout tomorrow. I might even do something later today, just not at the moment.

Alisha

I am going for a run tonight. I just got out of a long meeting and I'm eating lunch.

Tricia ~ There are plus and minuses where I work. They company has good benefits, pays well, the work is not stressful and I can manage my own schedule. I am here from 7 to 5 but it is my choice to come in early and I can get my overtime in when no one is here in the morning. The downside is still the same...mismanaged and financially unstable and I am BORED!! Fortunately we managed to secure a large job in August of last year and that has allowed us some financial freedom through the beginning of this year but the project has ended so who knows. I like my boss for the most part. He does not work out of this office so I only see maybe 4 times at year at the most. We get along but we can butt heads about financial stuff and at a staff meeting last year I told him and everyone else that I was not going to a team dinner because I thought it was wrong to spend money when we didn't have any to spend. He came into my office afterwards and asked me if I was mad at him. Really...grow up. I just wanted to him to acknowledge the fact that we had financial issues which he didn't when people were complaining about being reimbursed for expenses. He chooses to make excuses instead of being honest. I have also caught him in lies and lies that make no sense.

Today in the meeting we were going over some stuff and we were talking about being a team player, have a common way of thinking, pride, devotion, etc and he looked at me and said some people aren't there yet. I'm not sure if he was just looking at me or he meant me. I have pride, devotion and I'm a team player but I'm going to speak out when I think something is wrong and I am not going to spend money when we have none. So that is where there is problems. He's a good manager and has done lots for our region but no one here really buys what he is selling. I tend to be more vocal than I should and I'm learning to let things go because they will never change. I wear my heart on my sleeve which can be good and bad. I have my review next month and I'm going to practice being mute.

I am so sorry about Milo. How old is he? It must be so sad to see him get happy for a run and then you can't let them out. And they don't understand.

Ok...back to work I go. Hi Alisha!

I am going to do 3 10 min. sections from 'Dance off your belly' and a 20 min. yoga segment with Shiva Rea.

The plumber is coming today to see if they can fix our toilet. Later, we are having the kitchen window measured/assessed for replacement. It is a double pane window and some mineral water got inbetween the glass and it looks like you poured a vanilla milk shake on it.

I took a 'cleansing' class at the co-op last night. The instructor taught us how to eat before/prepare for it, how to do it, and what to do afterwards. I might do one for 3 days. Her style was not all raw. She incorporates both raw and cooked vegetables/fruits/nuts in the cleanse. She made us a kale/celery/apple juice. It was very tasty. I think there was some lime in it.

Jane- Enjoy your run.

Tricia- How is Milo?

Alisha

Hi ladies!

Alisha & Jane - Milo is doing fine! You'd never know there was anything wrong! Haven't heard back yet on his blood work even though they said we should know today. Always happens.

Jane - I think all offices have their ups and downs. Sad that he doesn't get the "no money means no spending." That's what's also wrong with our government, but don't even get me started there! Good luck with staying mute! I have to do that too, but it puts a lot of stress on me when I can't express myself. Oh, well. At least the pets listen! Stephen does, but he doesn't get it either.

Hope you had a nice run tonight!

Alisha - Did you get your workout today? Wow! You have a lot going on with your house! That stinks! Good luck with the cleansing! First thing I'm doing when I get a juicer is a five-day juice feast! That'll be a while though! Let me know how it goes when you do it!

I haven't worked out in 3 days. I'll hop back on tomorrow. Once I stop for one day, it always goes to 3! That must be my limit though, so that's good!

Have to start figuring out where I'm going to be able to work in run training again. It's staying light enough now that I could go out on the bike path without being afraid of being jumped. It'll be a while before I can hit the road again though. Stephen starts classes back next week, so that will help with me not getting stressed out about doing my workouts. He won't be home and I can get them done. Even if he shows up while I'm doing it, at least, then, I'll be in the middle and will get done.

Hope that made sense. I'm tired! Pups only went out once last night, but they were in and out of the blankets every half hour or so. Sigh. Can't win.

Have a great night! Tomorrow is FRIDAY and we have a 3 day weekend! Woo-Hoo!

I missed posting yesterday. I had to leave work early to get my haircut and when I got home my sister was waiting for me to workout. Here it is. We added some ab work on the end. I never thought of using the Bosu to sub for box jumps. I love box jumps but they hurt my knees. The Bosu did not hurt my knees. Duh!

Deadlift and Presses 21-15-9 reps of each

KB Swing and Push ups, inverted reps: 10/1, 9/2, 8/3, 7/4, 6/5, 5/6, 4/7, 3/8, 2/9, 1/10

KB Swing and Pull ups, inverted reps: 10/1, 9/2, 8/3, 7/4, 6/5, 5/6, 4/7, 3/8, 2/9, 1/10

Tag Team Race to 100x Bosu Jumps (P1 jumps and steps down, P2 jumps and steps down, etc, total of 50 jumps each)

Today will be a rest day as I have a 10K race tomorrow morning. A mainly flat course except for a short steep hill at mile 4. You actually run down the other side which is nice.

Tricia ~ Glad to know that Milo is doing well. Yes, all offices have their issues and you just have to adjust your thinking or leave. It is very hard to keep my mouth shut but I do try. My sister has the same problem so we are all in good company. I'm glad that it's getting lighter out. At night I run around my block about 5 or 6 times because I don't trust the traffic around here even though I am lit up like a Christmas tree.

Alisha ~ Let me know me how the cleansing goes. Sorry about the plumbing and window issues. Hope that has gotten straighten out.

TGIF!

broken glass

I stepped on some broken glass and I have an owie in my left foot. I dug out the glass but it bled and it hurts still. I will probably workout tomorrow, but definitely not today.

:(

Tricia- I did get yesterday's workout. I did one of Shiva's 'water' segments. I also enjoyed my dance dvd. I'm glad that Milo is ok.

Jane- I haven't started the cleanse yet. Enjoy your race!

Alisha

My foot was better this morning. I did Kathy Smith's Aerobox. I have to go to the grocery store, there is no food for my brother to eat. He came home on Thursday to help us with household chores. He has a GI bug and he is probably having kidney stone sludge (kidney stones that have not formed a stone yet, its sediment. ) He is not feeling well. I need to find something at the health food store to help him. My Mom has a terrible cold and is a tad grumpy (not her normal MO). I have her on vit. c, airborne, and zinc. Me, I'm fighting the cold better probably because I'm making green smoothies. I don't have a juicer yet, I can't afford one.

Have a great weekend!!

Alisha
