Its the beginning of a new month. Oh my, we are in the 8th month. How did it get to be that fall 1/3 of the year??? sheesh. I know technically its still Summer, but the schools don't seem to know that. Every body is going back to school.

Today is a rest day. I am working all day. I will workout tomorrow. I am definitely back in the swing of things with my workouts. I just felt so much better with having had a couple of intense workouts than when I was cruising in the 70% of my heart rate. I think I need to remember to do that at least 2x/week. I feel like my brain is back.

Its in the 80s. Its beautiful. What I don't understand is how we got such nice weather in August. Usually its a balmy 100 deg.:p But, far be it from me to look a gift weather report in the degrees:eek:

Alisha - I know what you mean about it being August already! We have been feeling like fall around here lately! I'm not ready to lose summer yet though!

You cracked me up with some of your suggestions for what I could make mine! :eek:

I don't know yet, but I'm working on my holistic cosmetology course right now. That might be it. I will find something.

Great that you have found your mojo! I'm still working on mine.

Jane - Sorry about all the rain! Glad you're still able to get workouts in though! Good luck on your 5K on Saturday!

Yesterday I played golf and tonight I blew off my workout. Stephen was still at school when I got home and I crashed.

Went to see my GYN today. She is taking me off the pill for 2 weeks, then I go for blood work. We will see what my levels are and go from there. If I'm in menopause, I'll go along without anything. If I'm still not there, we will probably go with a progesterone IUD. She said they work better and that may stop all these cramps and bleeding I've been having since April. I'm hoping that I'm done and I'm already in the big "M!" I so want to be done with this at this point!

Happy August!!

I got my run in last night. 4 miles. It was hot and a little too sunny but I felt good for most of the run. Tonight is a rest day as tomorrow will be a 5K trail race. I took 1st place in my age group last year. Hopefully I can repeat that with a better time.

Alisha ~ School starts on Monday for the kids here. I'm looking forward to the rest of the year as the bulk of my vacation hours are happening from August on. YIPPEE!!! I didn't take much vacation the first half of the year. So excited for my beach vacation at the end of this month.

Tricia ~ Hopefully things will work out and you will be entering the bit "M". So far, I'm doing fine. I don't get hot flashes but my sister's friend was told to cut down on sugar and those have cut down on the hot flashes for her. I don't eat much sugar so it seems like it's working for me.

gotta keep it movin', movin', movin'

I've had the last couple of days as rest days because I am driving Mom to work. Her carpooler is not available and I don't feel comfortable having Mom (who is partially disabled.) drive the Explorer on her own. She has poor night vision.

I am at the library studying for a seminar in Microsoft 365. I like to watch the videos on Lynda.com and the library has better internet than we have at home.

I almost bought myself a brevielle juicer the other day but the coupon for Bed Bath and Beyond didn't work on that brand so I was miffed. Meh, so there, BBB, I will shop somewhere else.

I will get to workout tomorrow. I might get one in tonight. This just goes to show that getting workouts in early in the week is like banking them in case something comes up.

Tricia- Oooh! Cosmetology sounds like fun. See, you need someone to kick your behind into gear to get you into your workouts. When Stephen isn't around you sink deeper into the couch and you can't get up. I did not know that hot flashes were associated with sugar:eek: I will store that in my memory banks for when I get to the big M.

Jane- Enjoy your race! I hope its nice out. A nice vacation at the beach sounds like fun to me.

Hello ladies and Happy Weekend! Woo-Hoo!

Jane - Good luck tomorrow on your race! Sending you 1st place vibes! I hope your August vacation goes better than last year! I won't have to worry about sugar. I don't eat processed sugar any more unless I am on my peanut butter cookie craze!

Alisha - I don't blame you for driving your mom. Jealous you have a juicer! I'm holding out for the Omega 8006! It's $300, so I'm saving, saving, saving . . . Stinks that BBB wouldn't honor the coupon. I have that problem with City Sports. We joined the free loyalty club thing and whenever there are discounts and stuff there's this huge tiny print list of brands it WON'T be available for. Guess what? It's always the brands I like! Pffft!

Well, I came home and Stephen was in the middle of a game of Halo, but I went upstairs and changed clothes and set up for my workout. One hour LATER, he finally won his game and I got to work out. I almost put everything up and changed, but I had already dragged everything out. The bad part was, once he was done, he went straight to the kitchen to start fish which only takes 20 minutes and my workout was 54 minutes. Talk about feeling rushed! I can't win. Well, I got it done anyway even though all I could think about was that I was holding him up from eating, not that I wasn't already starving also because I'm usually done with my workout by the time he started dinner! Sigh.

Anyway, that's it for today. Looking forward to a nice weekend! Hope you two enjoy yours as well!

Hi Alisha! Good job on your workout yesterday! What did you do today?

Here's my adventure:

I had planned to get my workout and swings in after sailing today, but we got stuck in Bristol Harbor. : /

So, we didn't get home from sailing until after 7 p.m. Husband insisted on trying the screecher again. We sailed out with the main and jib and we had great wind! For the run back, he removed the jib and raised the screecher. First tack, I got the sail around the forestay beautifully! It went so easily! Not so much next time. The sail had more wind and it almost took me over the starboard hull and into the water so I couldn't hold it while release the sheet. I had to release the sheet first, then try to grab the clew (end of the sail), but it took a minute and by then it was too late. I fell back and hit my back on the console in the center of the cockpit. Anyway, after jibing back a few times, we sailed the screecher in front of the forestay which made it not so efficient, but it got us out of Bristol Harbor, finally! When we were able to set downwind home, the screecher crossed over to the starobard side in proper form and we blew home in no time!

I will say that I am pretty banged up. I really wanted to cry and still do, but I'm toughing it out. I got home, went the bathroom - ah - took Advil and iced a huge swollen area on my left wrist. Not quite sure how that happened. I have rug-type burns on my knees and arms and my back really hurts. Probably bruised up.

Was it fun? YES! We hit 8.5-9.5 knots steady on the way back. However, I hate how my husband makes me feel when I fail at something. Now, he wants to fly the spinnaker . . .

Just know - I did not workout and I am in a load of freakin' pain!

Hi Jane! Congrats on your trail run today!

Don't know what I'll do tomorrow. Depends on whether I'm able to get out of bed or not.
 
I'm doing a mosh up of Jillian's Ripped in 30 and Cathe's Slide/Glide Standing Cardio Drills. Those always make me laugh.

Tricia- I think that qualifies as a workout. Don't you think sailing qualifies?

Just take it easy for a couple of days, you don't want to make an injury worse.

When I wrestle with the big sail, yes, I think I had a workout! I thought I'd be really, really stiff today, but I'm not too bad. Can't get on my knees for floor leg work for a few days. They are pretty bruised. I have a bad lump on my left wrist from something. Not sure what. I iced it last night, but it was a couple of hours before I got to it so it didn't help much. Really just damn tired today. So, I spent my day with my butt on the couch reading my SUP magazine and drooling over boards. I did lots of online research on them and am now just trying to decide on about 3 top ones that I want. I know I want a good all around board since we have waves and lots of choppy water here and I want around a 12-14' board with the width no more than 30". The hard part now is narrowing it down! There are so many with so many different types of construction! I also want to make sure it's light enough for me to carry along with my paddle! Stephen will be carrying his surfboard, so I will be on my own to carry my paddleboard!

Ah, a nice day of dreaming . . .

I might do some yoga when I get home from work. I will workout tomorrow. Probably a Cathe step workout. I'm leaning towards those these days.

Happy Monday!

I ran my 5K trail race on Saturday morning. It was HOT! It was cloudy, foggy and 80 degrees with 1000% humidity (at least it felt like it). The course was a bit different than last year but it took me over 3 minutes longer. I'm not sure what the problem was as I felt good for the most part. I think the heat just zapped my energy. I still placed 1st in my age group but did not stay to get my award (a plant) because they were taking forward and I was so hot and sweaty.

Sunday was a 9 mile run. Today will be legs.

Tricia ~ I know nothing about sailing but I hope you feel better today. I'm glad you had a good time despite falling and wrestling the the sail and other stuff.

Alisha ~ Hope you get your juicer soon! Don't work too hard!
 
Hello Monday!

Alisha - Enjoy your yoga tonight!

Jane - Yay on the race! I did legs today, too!

I feel better today. My bruises will be sore for a while, but that's okay. Yesterday gave me a nice day to research SUPs and start deciding what board I want. I am very excited to get one! I doubt it will be this year, but hopefully, early enough next year that I can enjoy it a lot!

I did Turbo Barre today. Haven't done that one in a while! Owie!

Is it Friday yet?

I'm doing Cathe's original LIC cardio timesaver premix. I haven't done that in forever, I don't know if I will remember the choreography.

A**hole boss was out this afternoon and he left me alone this morning, so today went pretty well - smooth and quiet. Ah! That was nice!

Still getting the workouts done. Did Low Impact Challenge last night and XTrain Burn Sets Bis and Tris tonight. My arms are totally fried!

That's 3 days in a row! Woo-hoo! Let's just hope I can keep it going!

I'm doing Shiva Rea Yoga for beginners, 70 minutes of energy based focus. It really works to clear my head. I will do a Cathe workout tomorrow, probably Step Moves and 10 min. from Dance off Belly Fat. I really like the 'Dancer's Silhouette' segment, its got some balance focused moves and I love those.

Jane- Enjoy your run.

Tricia- Well done on three workouts in a row! I usually don't do more than three in a row anymore, I just get so sore. Whenever I walk delicately my Mom asks, 'Did Cathe do that to you?' Answer: 'Yes, how did you know?:eek:'

I got my run in last night. It was hot but it was somewhat cloudy so it was manageable without the hot sun.

4 - Mr. Spectaculars
8 - Overhead Presses (KB or Barbell)
12 - KB Slingshots
16 - KB Overhead Sit ups
24 - Swings

Tricia ~ YIPPEE!! Three day in a row..keep up the good work. I love when the a-hole are out of the office. Only 2 of us in the office today. I'm enjoying it.

Evening ladies!

Alisha - Cathe really does get to those muscles! I need more dance workouts! Not really. I have enough to keep me going for several years actually. Okay, I want more dance workouts and kickbox ones, too! lol

Jane - Nice work on the run and today's workout! That humidity can really sap you!

It was nice and quiet at the office this morning for an hour, then Martin came in. He's the loud and disruptive one and the boss that gives me so much grief. He didn't really have anything to do, so he left me alone. I was in the back by myself all morning so I had Pandora playing on my computer while I worked. It was so nice! The other attorneys came in later, but were pretty self-involved. A good day!

I didn't work out tonight as it is Stephen's birthday today. I ran to the fish market because Stephen wanted sesame-seared tuna for his birthday dinner. I also had to stop at the grocery for his cake stuff. I made parsley potatoes to go with the tuna and baked his cake. We ate, had sake and then cake. Just relaxing now.

Back to the workouts tomorrow and Saturday at least. Not sure about Sunday. We might go sailing and there's an SUP race down in the South County area at 10 a.m. and I'd love to go see that! I'm off on Monday. We get a free day in August for Victory Day. I have no idea what that is, but it seems to be some sort of holiday in Rhode Island. No matter, at least I get a day off for it! Yay!

I admit, I can't resist a new fun dance workout. Every time I find a fun series I have to get them all.

I did remember most of LIC but I didn't do it perfectly. Yesterday was a rest day, I started yoga but my lunch came up on me, so I stopped. I just did Rhythmic Step. What a sweat fest that one is! To quote the wicked witch of the West, 'I'm melting!':p

I will do some yoga tonight before bed, I may have a very light lunch in anticipation of that, maybe a coconut milk smoothie. I love what coconut does for my metabolism and its easy for me to digest.

My mom isn't feeling very well. She has been vomiting all night. I will spend the day with her to make sure she is ok.

I will also be studying for my seminar on Mon/Tuesday. Its in San Francisco, right on the wharf. Fun times! Yippee for me!

Tricia- Are you going to get knockout rockout? I only ordered the step workout. She had her presale before I got the job I have now. Cash flow is usually the thing that stops me from ordering new workouts. I'm glad your day at work was nice and wish Stephen a happy birthday from us. What kind of cake did you make?

Jane- Isn't that the truth, without the direct rays, the heat is more manageable. Enjoy your workout!
