Jogglers August 2013

Jane- I would take the rain!!

Well done on that 9 mile run.

Tricia- I didn't even see your post, how did that happen? my brain is malfunctioning in all this smoke:eek: I agree, Apple care does pay for itself, especially now that everything is portable. I'm hardly ever on the tower at home anymore, its all laptop, iphone, and cameras.

I buy the house brand coconut milk from Trader's. I didn't care for the 'vanilla' flavored one, it seemed like marshmallows. Its not the best flavor in the world, but it doesn't slosh in my tummy and it doesn't come up on me.

I hope that Milo is feeling much better. Poor thing.

What is your favorite way to eat fresh tomatoes?

Alisha

I'm going to the beach today to clear my head. The smoke yesterday was so bad it burned my skin. Ouchie. I'm thinking Sausalito/Marin Headlands.

At least its supposed to be cooler today. Yesterday was 105 deg. which doesn't help with that darned fire in Tahoe.

Alisha

Didn't do that at all. Just went to the movies to see Elysium. The smoke is a bit better. I plan to go to work tomorrow. I have set my room up to do Step Blast in the AM. I'm thinking about adding a little bit of yoga after the workout. I'm feeling tight.

Hi ladies!

Alisha - There are fires everywhere! Ugh! Hope you guys see some rain and lower temps soon! If you're going to be out in all that, you should wear a mask to reduce the inhalation of all that crap! Be safe!

Sorry you didn't make it to the beach, but a movie is nice! How was Elysium? I want to see that.

Jane - Only a few more days till vacation!

You have plenty of reading material now for your week off! I hope you have much better weather this year!

Milo is back to his old self. I'm still going to get his murmur checked when we take him for his rabies shot soon. He's eating and bouncy! Good and bad! lol

Did Supercuts last night and didn't work out Monday. I have been getting these nasty sinus headaches daily and Monday was bad. It's the weather. It was also leg day and we all know how much I love leg day! :p

Had to buy a dress for a wedding on Saturday. Ugh. I hate shopping. It'll do and it was only $40. We'll probably be going sailing on Sunday. We haven't taken the boat out in 2 weeks. Between other stuff going on and low winds, we just haven't been able to. Stephen is sad. :(

Hey, how long does it take tomatoes to ripen once they come out on the plant? I've had tons of tomatoes, but they are all still green and tiny. What's up with that? I want maters!

Tricia- Elysium was spectacular, really really good. Not nearly as boring as Superman was. Actually, not boring at all. Matt Damon was great, the bad guy was great, Jodie Foster was excellent.

Leg day is always a killer!:p

Poor Stephen, I can understand being sad to miss days doing something you love.

Just wait for the tomatoes. This always makes me think of 'Tow-Mater'.

I'm too sore for Cathe, I'm doing Shiva Rea's Yoga for Beginners.

Alisha

I didn't post yesterday but I did workout. Here is the workout:

200m Run
52 BOSU Jumps
200m Run
52 H2H Swings
200m Run
52 Upright Rows
200m Run
52 Sit ups

Today will be a 3-4 mile run if it doesn't rain again.

I'm getting excited for vacation. Only 2 1/2 more days of work.

Tricia ~ I have TONS of books to read even without the 3 books I bought Saturday. The weather looks to be good next week. I don't care if it rains because it probably will. I just want to make it there this year.

Alisha ~ I hope you get relief from the smoke soon. I'm glad you got a break though and saw the movie instead.

Alisha - I'm looking forward to seeing Elysium! I loved District 9! Tow-Maters is funny! Enjoy yoga tonight!

Jane - Great workout! Hope you got your run in! You are like me, have tons of books, but a few more can't ever hurt! When we retire, we can get all caught up! lol

It was Yoga Relax today. I'm proud of myself for doing my yoga once a week! I usually beg off and skip it because it hurts and I hate it, but I'm buckling down and doing it because I NEED it! Going to have to have my back strong and my hamstrings and core nice and stretched and strong also to do all that paddleboarding!

We got back up close to 90 yesterday and today.

Oh! I have one cherry tomato turning red! I'll keep an eye on it and it'll probably get picked in the next few days! Only one is ready, but I have tons of green ones! They'll probably all ripen enough to pick at the same time, then I'll have more tomatoes than I can eat! So excited!

Have a great night!

Tricia- We should make a pact to do our yoga at least 1x/week. Is it tomato soup yet?

Jane- Good job on the workout. I have lots of books, but I'm pretty sure I've read them all.

I did enjoy yoga yesterday. I'm doing Cathe's KB/Bootcamp cardio premix on 4DS. I'm still sore because of what I'm doing at work. I will do something tomorrow, either yoga or step.

Alisha

Hi Alisha! No tomato soup yet. :(

I have one cherry tomato that's reddish and almost ready to pick. Woo.

Sure! Pact made! Yoga at least one day a week! You do more yoga than I do without even thinking about it!

I did XTrain Burn Sets Chest Back and Shoulders tonight. I was able to move my weights up by 2 lbs. on most of the exercises except the lateral raises and delt raises.

Still eating junk, but I'm determined to quit that! I'll figure it out somehow.

I can't imagine ever being finished reading all my books! lol

Hi Jane!

TGIF!!

I ran in the rain on Wednesday - about 2 miles or so. Yesterday and today are rest days because I have a 10.5K race tomorrow.

Today is my last day of work until September 3. So excited to be going to the beach finally since our trip was cancelled last year. YIPPEE!!

I will be making a serious dent in my pile of books (not really) while I'm at the beach. I'm bringing 5 or 6 books. Two years ago when I went I finished 5 books so I'll see if I can do the same. My sister and I logged in all the books we had because we didn't know what books we had and were buying duplicates. Between the 2 of us we have over 400 books to read but we pass them back and forth, give them to people and then eventually they go to the library as a donation. The Director tells me that most of our books end up on the shelves so I feel good about that.

You guys can do the yoga and I'll watch. ;) I don't like yoga but I should do it.

I will still be checking in. The house we have has WiFi and I am bringing my kettlebells with me.

Jane - Woo-Hoo! Vacation time! :D:D:D:eek:

Good luck in your race tomorrow! Have a great run!

Enjoy your week off! Hope you get to really relax and enjoy all your books!

I did not really work out tonight. I had another screaming headache today that started around lunch. I did do a little yoga. Downward Dog was very painful, but the rest was nice.

Have a wedding tomorrow in Newport for the youngest of the attorneys who own the firm. He's at least young and okay. Hopefully, he won't adopt the same attitude the rest of them with the same last name have! His fiance is our vet and fabulously nice!

Hi Alisha!

Have a great weekend!

This morning I ran the 10.5K race that I love doing. Unfortunately I found out afterwards that this will be the last race because they have a hard time getting sponsors. The weather was a tad cooler, less humid and a bit overcast. I PR'd the course by a little over 2 minutes and took 2nd in my age group. My sister PR'd her time over 7 minutes and took 3rd place.

Spent the rest of the day getting ready for the beach. We leave tomorrow. Can't wait!

Tricia ~ I hope you had fun at the wedding and that your headache went away.

Alisha ~ How is your weekend going?

The weekend has been busy.

I just can't believe how long its been since I posted. I swear I thought I posted.

Had a couple of rest days due to smoke. Its finally starting to clear up.

On Friday I ordered the Rockout Knockout and Bootcamp/ME on the sale price.
I took that day off from work because it was so smokey up there.

On Saturday I went to work early. I thought I would get some yoga, but I was just too tired to do it.

Sunday (me and the excuses!!) I am still having headaches from the smoke. Went to the grocery store. That felt like a horrendous chore. I have a birthday party to go to tonight. I have already cooked for it, made green beans/mushrooms. I figure thats pretty healthy.

Here is my tentative rotation for the next week:
Sunday- Rest
Monday- Cathe Step Blast
Tuesday- Slide n' Glide cardio drills + Kathy Smith Timesaver Fat Burner
Wednesday- Cathe Body Max II cardio only
Thursday- Jillian Ripped in 30 + MMA Cardio drills (no abs)
Friday: Rest
Saturday: Rest- might do Tai chi

Jane- Congrats on your race time!! Enjoy your vacation! I have an extensive book collection, but I think I've read all of them. I must need more:eek:

Tricia- I hope your head is feeling better. Enjoy the wedding!

Alisha

Hanging out in the beach house right now. The weather looks to be nice all week after lots of rain last week. Ran 6 miles this morning.

Alisha - I hope the smoke is better. Don't work too hard. You workouts for this week looks good.

Hi Tricia.

Happy Monday Night!

Alisha - I'm jealous you ordered some of the new workouts! :p

Ugh. Smoke is so awful! I can't breathe at all when there's smoke of any kind!

Looks like a nice rotation for this week!

Jane - Sorry this is the last run for that 10K! Glad you at least PR'd it! Congrats to you and sis for placing! Glad the weather is going to be nice for your vacation! Enjoy!

Headache went away. Thanks ladies! Haven't had another one yet! *knock on wood*

The wedding was fabulous and lots of fun! Danced all night! The worst thing was it was an hour drive home and we didn't get to bed until almost 1 a.m. We sailed on Sunday. That was exciting! We had really good wind which kicked up the waves to 4' or so. They were tossing us around while we sailed upwind. I kept wanting to ask to go home. It was scary to me, but I kept my mouth shut, did my job with the sails and held on for dear life! lol :confused:

We hit 12 knots briefly, the fastest we've gone to date, and maintained 8-10 knots steadily. Once we turned downwind, things smoothed out a lot, but not before we almost flew a hull! That means we were almost sideways with one hull completely out of the water. Stephen moved over to my side of the boat to steer to keep us from doing that because we don't have the equipment to hike out to add weight to bring the hull down. It was fun, but I was completely nervous the whole time except when I was working. Heading home, we practically surfed the waves which would push us and increase our speed briefly. It was kind of neat.

I was exhausted this morning after all that this weekend! Milo woke up at 5 a.m. after going out at 2:45, so I had to hold him for almost 2 hours to keep him in bed. He settled down to sleep again about 5 minutes before my alarm went off. Figures. I'm hoping for a better night tonight!

You two take care! Jane - have lots of fun! Alisha - don't work too hard this week!

BTW, I did XTrain Bis and Tris tonight with no one home to coax me! :D

Evening ladies!

No workout tonight. I was very tired, had a headache, again, and my right knee was feeling a bit wonky. I hope you two are having a great week!

Stephen and I are going to Mansfield on Friday night to meet some people from UConn and see Christopher Titus. He is also going to try and get us tickets to see a jazz vibrophone player and Elvis Costello! Hope we get tickets for both!

It's not often we get to go and do things other than stuff together that doesn't involve other people. Of course, Friday is dependent on whether or not everyone begs off between now and then.

Have a great night!

I stayed home from work. It was too smokey. I did no workout. It was too smokey. I did go to see 'Mortal Instruments' because the theater has filtered air. I also dropped a jar of olives and broke it during the few earthquake tremors we had this morning. I have a little sliver of glass somewhere in the pad of my left foot, I can feel it occasionally but I can't find it to dig it out.

I hope its all better because my copy of Bootcamp + Muscle endurance arrived:eek: So, you can see that tomorrow will be Bootcamp of course!!!

Then its off to work, I will bring a mask, I hope I can butch it out and finish all my paths of travel, restroom inspections, and ramps/stairs.

Tricia- Well done on the sailing, I am a wuss about stuff like that now. I'm getting softer as I grow older:eek: Poor Milo, it mustn't be easy to be stressy and awake at odd hours.

Jane- How is that beach house treating you?

Alisha

Nope, didn't do BC, I did 25 min. of Tai Chi with Petra Kolber. I'm sore. Its ttotm, I'm a wuss. But, I am dressed to go to work. I really will do it today. I have lots of restroom forms, the campus is completely open for fall session, and I plan to inspect every restroom I can find. It might be 4, it might be 10. We shall see.

I might do something from BC when I get home from work.

Catch ya' later.

I did nothing yesterday or today. I'm hacking up smoke sludge out of my nose. Its not an excuse. Its just gross. I'm so sore from work.

I am watching my diet. I plan on doing belly dancing today. I did wash the dishes last night and cooked dinner, I didn't even eat out :)

I will do Tantric Toning Tai Chi tomorrow. I need to foam roll my calves, they are screaming.
