jeans for pears

LAST EDITED ON Feb-18-02 AT 02:15PM (Est)[p]I recommend gap classic jeans. For me, these are the only jeans in the world that fit right. Also, the size and placement of the seat pockets is just right for a flattering look. As an example, with eddie bauer jeans (sorry if you love them) the pockets are too small and too high, making people's "assets" look bigger and lower. With levis, the pockets are sometimes placed too far out to the sides, making your rear end look wider. I know these brands look great on a lot of people, but not on me when I have wide hips already.

I'm the type of pear where my hips flare out to the sides. I mean FLARE. And my seat is more flat. My legs are slender. I just have those cursed hips! Slow and heavy has pulled in the sides and lifted my rear end up and out, but the overall picture is still...pear. I'm 5'3, 118lbs, size 6 in jeans. So it's not like I'm packing a lot of lard, I just keep it all in one place.

These jeans aren't probably right for every pear but if you're
looking, try them. I get compliments all the time, and look 10lbs lighter in them than other jeans.

Hi Kath...
I had to respond to this. I too have been living in blue jean hell for several years. I am also a pear like you, but I cannot wear Gap jeans. And believe me, I have tried several times thinking "maybe this time they will fit better ". It's something about the waist. I could fit a melon in the gap that I have in the back. But they fit fine everywhere else. I have had lots of luck with the Polo Saturday jean. And I can wear a size 4 in those, and I am normally a 6, which makes me like them that much more!!!

Abercrombie works for me. I do not have wide hip bones, but all my fat is in the "jodphur" area, I hope I spelled that right. My stomach is flat, my waist is not small, I just have blubber-lumps below my glute, to the outside and inside of the thigh. My 17 yr old daughter had me try them on and they are great. Of course, they are low-cut, so without my flat stomach, I wouldn't wear them.

Lands End relaxed fit jeans are great for pears. In fact, all of Lands Ends pants are great for pears. They have started making cuter more stylish pants that ALWAYS fit. I never buy pants in stores now, I buy from Lands End and even though you can't try them on since its a catalogue I know they will always fit great! (They cut pants with room for a butt unlike some Gap pants where I think they cut them for 12 year old girls.)
