I did my hardcore kickbox circuit for the first time today and loved it. I used 1&1/2pounds weighted gloves. I want to use 3 pounds to crank up the intensity. I love her style. I think she is great. I still love Cathe the best, but I love Janis too and it feels good to do a different work out. I was thinking of buying her weighted gloves off her websight, does anyone have any they bought and like, I am thinking they might all be the same, I think I got mine at walmart a year or so a go.

Any suggesstions on what other tapes might be good, that Janis has out.

Thanks in advance.

Have a wonderful evening

Debbie :) :) :) :) :) :)

Debbie,

I love Janis Saffell's Hardcore Circuits, too. I use 2# weighted gloves - You can buy weighted gloves at Target ( 2 1/2# and 3# too).
Did you know that Guilermo is her husband?

I love her Srike Zone tape, too. I have a gyn bag - and there is contact kickboxing and in her last ten minutes - I wear rubber tubing around my feet to push up the intensity.

Cheryl

Thank you Chery. I will look in to strike zone, do I need a punching bag for this work out?, and where did you get the rubber tubing for your legs, I have never seen it, and where did you get it at?.

I new he was her husband he is great too and kind of cute that is a plus, LOL.

THANK YOU SO MUCH

DEBBIE:) :) :D

Another Hardcore fan here. I also have Janis' new Quick
Tone and Stretch DVDs on order so that will give me 5 new workouts with my Cathe's. Although the weight work in BNB plus Pilates, it is not my very favorite, I LOVE the short step section on the DVD called Fierce Deluxe Step. Its a "Dancy" step routine done to a latin beat. Just wish it was longer than 25 mins.

Thanks kmc,

that sounds like a lot of fun. I love those dancy steps, I like a little pep in my step. I will look in to that one.

Do you have strike zone?, if you do have it do I need a punching bag?, I am also looking for some heavier weited gloves. I don't know if hers on her websight would be better or not. Thanks for the info on the tape it sounds like a great work out. I think it would be great, then you can add something else on.

Thanks

Debbie:) :9 :9

I don't have Strike Zone, but if folks like Cathe and Janis keep making great workouts I may be broke soon!! I have seen weighted gloves at Walmart before and may them them a try myself eventually.
Kathy

Kathy, I hear you about going broke, LOL. bUT IT IS FOR OUR HEALTH, THAT IS A GOOD THING. i GOT MY WEIGHTS AT WALMART THEY ARE O.K., BUT I AM GOING TO CHECK OUT THE ONES ON THE JANIS'S WEBSIGHT, HEY YOU COULD DO YOUR 25 MINUTE WORK OUT TIMES 2 AND GET IN A GREAT 50 MINUTE WORK OUT.

Do you have Cathe's timesaver, I would like to know how it compares to the ctx dvd's?. I have a lot of her others but was just curious if you had that one and what you thought of it. I think your new tape sounds great that you ordered.

Thanks Kathy

Debbie:) :) :) :D :D :D

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND.

I think that Janis' gloves are make by Ironwear. If so, I have some similar ones. They are very nice. Unlike some weighted gloves that have most of the weight on the back of the hand (and feel awkward and unbalanced to me) or some that have stiff metal weights (the ones from Walmart--they don't bend where I bend and almost dig into parts of my hand) the Ironwear gloves are weighted with a pliable heavy rubber that feels nice on the hands, and the weight is evenly distributed between the palm and the back of the hand.

I would be cautious about going to 3#. Though Janis' punches are slower than some and can be used with heavier gloves, 3# still can be a lot when you figure in the speed of the punches that add momentum. Be careful of your elbows and shoulders, and maybe start out using the heavier gloves just part of the workout.

Thanks Kathryn, it sounds like the kind of gloves I am looking for. The ones I have do feel awkward and uncomfortable. I will look on the websight for some and the stores when I go. Maybe I should use a lower weight. What weight do you use?. Thank you very much. I love the kickbox tape I got, I think she is great. Have a great evening and Thanks again.

Debbie

Hi, Debbie.

I started out with 1#, and used them for maybe two years before moving up to 1 1/2 pounds, which I use less often. I still use my 1# most of the time (the 1 1/2 pounders are for slower workouts--for example, Janis Saffel punches slower than the Powerstrike women). I don't think I would ever go much higher. I do have a small build and would be worried about the torque to my shoulders. If I were a more macha woman, I might go up to 2#, but any heavier, IMO, could lead to problems. I just wouldn't want to take the chance. Instead, I'd stick with the lighter weights, and work on my form and on the speed of my recoil.

Hi Everyone,

Can someone please give me Janis Saffell's website. The Kickbox Circuit workout sounds like fun, thank you.

Debbie,

I also have Hardcore Kickbox Circuit and really enjoy it. Like Kathryn, I wouldn't go too heavy with the gloves. Upping the weights in the strength sections, as you can, is probably a better idea.

I also have Kickbox Strike Zone and love it! I haven't used tubing, like someone else suggested, but it sounds like a perfect idea. I preordered the Quick Fix and Dynamic Stretch DVDs; should have them this week. I also have BNB&More and BNB & Pilates, although I don't do then as much. I'm looking to get more of her kickboxing though also.

I just wanted to add that I tried this work out for the first time today and was really pleased with it. I heard you guys talk about it so much and it sounded like something I would like because of the circuit style training. I have to admit I am pretty tired because I have been doing the the HST Advanced and my legs are worn out. I have a love hate relationshipe with the leg presses.
My legs should see some kind of results after doing HST.
