Jan 26th Pregnancy Check In Week

good evening my preggo fitness friends :)
hope everyone is doing a little better. im pretty tired and DH Is passed out in his recliner .. um, its 830 yea....

im having some funny pains again and some movement inside. probably just the baby putting pressure on things down there. i imagine the baby has turne by now right? Im 37 weeks. i go tomorrow and get a pelvic exam in my check up. yay. thats always fun! :) And i have to take my dog to the groomer in the evening. should be an exciting nite

i got STS today too. Wow that box was heavier than i thought. i have not previewed or opened anything - it looks daunting tho! i will have to sit downa nd actually look better at it. i never did my one rep max's. so i guess i should figure out how the heck to do it first. i've never had to think about my workouts too hard. hopefully its easier than i think it is lol.

Just a quick note about my emotional state the last couple of days.
Have you ever experienced this or know anyone who has?
Ryan's been kicking a TON and I had a terrible dream on Wednesday night so I must be getting scared:

I was an executive in a very large bank. About 10 other male executives of the same bank were bank robbers. They started shooting everyone in the head after they robbed the bank. We were told not to try to fake being dead because they would know if we were already dead because of the back-thrash of our heads moving from the impact of the bullet. I was pregnant in the dream. The last thing I remember in the dream was that I was shot in the head while lying on the floor. However, I didn't die and the only thought that I had was that my baby would die. The very last thing I remember before I woke up (died) was feeling the baby kick. Then I woke up feeling the baby kick. I told Wallace about it, but he wasn't in my dream. I told him about it before I left for work and he said that he wished we would have been in the dream because if it actually ever happened he didn't know if he could deal with the aftermath and would rather be dead, too.

I know, it was awful and I'm still crying about it. I think all that this means is that I'm scared about screwing up this baby. I've never done this before and I don't even know how to change a diaper! I keep feeling like I don't know what I'm doing, I don't have enough baby stuff in Germany to take care of this baby (my sister sent stuff, which is awesome, but it still hasn't arrived as we're having terrible problems with the postal service), and I'm really scared about it. The good thing is that I've finally emotionally wrapped my brain around this child and am starting to love it. It took awhile, but after having miscarried last year at 13 weeks, I didn't want to actually believe that this baby was viable.

Okay, that's enough for now. Thanks for reading.

Laura -you just had a scary dream. I get those sometimes too. Some are so real! Don't worry about the baby. You'll do fine! hugs. I hope the baby items come soon for you. Did you get that stroller you were looking at? I'm sorry you lost a baby last year. :( You made it past that first trimester when that is most likely. Ryan should be fine. Hugs!

Jen - let us know how your appt goes. I'm excited to see the STS package now! :)

Skyy -my midwife said I'm slightly anemic also. I tend to get that each pregnancy too. She said to eat more red meat and green vegis. I got a small 6 oz. steak when we ate out the other day. I'm a major fish/chicken person usually. Hope you feel all better.
Glad you think STS looks good!

Laura, I agree that dream was really scary. I, too, miscarried the first time I was pregnant. It took another 5+ yrs to feel ready to try again. We were nervous and scared the entire time I was pregnant with DS. As for not knowing how to change diapers and what to do. I had to learn how from my DH who learned from the nurses in the hospital. Same thing with swaddling. I never could do that correctly; he was a pro. The nurses at the hospital taught DH several things while I could only lay on the hospital bed after my c-section and watch. Our DS is 4 now and we still feel like we don't know what we're doing sometimes. Thank goodness for Google and my American Pediatric reference book. LOL

Laura- if you want, I can send my mom over to help you...LOL - get THIS story...

WHen I was 22, I had DS who was my 1st baby. My mom had never even had a boy - she had 2 girls - but she thought she would "help".

So anyway, I am about to change his diaper at the hospital and she takes over and says, "now Crissy", (that is my nickname), "these are his testicles, I think you young kids call them 'balls', and this is his penis". Uhmmmmmm, ooooookay. Like I have never seen that before? Wow....wow.

Soooo anyway, that was uncomfortable! LOL! But hilarious! But she did help me change the diaper.

About your dream, I have scary ones all the time. I am sorry you had that one. Also, I have what is known as 3rd time mother syndrome or something like that ( I learned it in my psych classes as I am a psych major) where you worry that your 3rd (or beyond) will be born w/ problems if you've had 2 healthy babies before. So don't worry, you are not alone. Cheer up. HUGS!

Love, Clarissa

Laura , hugs :) This was just a bad dream, do not worry too much about it. I barely remember dreams, if i have them at all. But during my first trimester, and maybe even into my second i had a couple dreams i do remember. They all involved losing my baby. I woke up very sad and scared becuase the dream was very very real. It is NOT a good feeling. From the looks of everyone else posting, it seems like this is common. So rest assured this happens fairly often.

You will be a great mom! You will learn how to put on a diaper, and soon you will be a diaper changing pro! Its not hard at all and you will figure it out. You can always have someone show you at the hospital. I've mostly dealt with changing baby girl diapers, but i've heard that little boys can pee on you, so just watch out for that or you might get a suprise lol. You will be fine, dont worry!! I think its normal to have all these fears , especially if this is your first child. I know how to change a diaper, but i've never given birth before. Im a stepmom of 3, but i've never had full time children living with me. I think what you are feelign is compleletly normal. ANd you can always come here and aske questions to us and teh other moms on the forums. Its so welcoming here, so you have support here and im sure you have support of friends and family and coworkers as well. Just one day at a time! I know you will be an awesome mommy and you will love this little baby more than you ever thought possible :) Hope this helps.

Clarissa - LOL on your moms story

Hi Skyy hope you are feeling well today :)

Hi jess, the appt was ok thanks for asking. bp is fine, urine is fine. the midwife wants me on bedrest but i said no. i can get thru three more weeks i think. my swelling is really bad. she said it hurts just looking at me! I agree, its become quite painful. but my job is not taxing right now and i sit all day. so i'd rather save my time for when baby arrives as opposed to sitting around anxiously awaiting for her.

i had apevlic exam - NOT fun. it hurt a little actually. she pointed out where the foot, back and head were. she said my cervix is facing inward or something and that i am -3 which i guess means i'm not even close to having her haha. i think it goes -3, 0 , +3 in dilation order. So it ooks like she has to brew in there for a ittle while more. the midwife said she is right on my bladder right now.

ok, well better squeeze in a workout before DH goes to work. I have to grocery shop at some point too and take my dog to the groomer - she is way overdo. The groomer is next to target, maybe i should buy at least one nursing bra. i dont have ANYTHING like that yet. Oh and its in the same plaza as babies r us so lookout!

not sure what workout to do, if any at all. i've had the last two days off so i should stop slacking!! :)

Jen - someone was posing on another forum I'm on how they go from like a -3 to having the baby the next day. ha. So I guess usually thats the case but for some it doesn't mean much. But thats good cause you have a couple more weeks for baby to finish growing. :) Just something you probably don't want to hear at 40 weeks. ha.
Glad the appt went well. I hate pelvic exams. ugh. alteast I have a midwife this time instead of male drs with HUGE hands. I noticed women are usually more gentle plus have smaller hands.
Why does she want you on bedrest? just cause the swelling?

Laura - do you have a baby care book like what to expect the first year? or they have big huge books on babycare at bookstores. They tell you everything you could ever want to know. I can't remember which I had with my first but it was hard back and like 3-4 inches thick. the what to expect one would be good enough most likely. They also will help you at the hospital if you have any questions and show you how to hold them/change them etc. You'll be an old pro in no time ;) It is an adjustment at first. I'm expecting that and it's my third. I held my nephew a few months ago and it felt so strange holding such a small person after wrestling with my big boys. lol.

Clarissa- thats funny about your mom. ha. You're like "uh sure thanks mom". I think every pregnancy I worry some that the baby will be ok. The U/S helps to know nothing MAJOR is wrong like a 3rd arm ha. But still nervous.

HI Jess
The packaging is impressive isnt it? I havent even taken the shrink wrap off yet. I have to read all the stuff a little better.

I did a CIA workout today with Sharon. It was a circuit style and then i could not walk once i finished. whatever happened to my butt/back muscle did not fully heal and i made it worse. but i went thru the entire workout. being on the step botehred me but i could lift ok and do squats and jumping jacks. it seems like anything on the step aggrevates it. now it hurts like heck to walk :( I took two days off for rest but apprarenly it didnt do me any good!

I have female midwives as well, 3 actually. I have no idea who will actually deliver the baby. I am also glad they are female. I've never had a male doctor for this sort of thing. Im more comfortable with a woman.

She wanted me on bedrest becuase my swelling is extremely excessive. haha. can i use those two words together? She said she wa sin pain just looking at my becuase my feet, ankles and legs are so huge.

I haev been running errands from 430-830 tonite. I dropped of my doggie at the groomers. she looks so small and fragile now. they gave her a red kerchiekf with white hearts on it. she smells like peppermint, she is too cute. Then i got like $15 back at BRUS becuase i got coupons in the mail after buying things last week so they gave me cash. Then i went to target and got a nursing tank and a nursing bra. i found pink pj bottoms for $3 on clearance and black pants for $8. im taking all that to the hospital with me. dunno if i need it, but at least i can wear the black pants home. I also bought travel size toothrbursh, toothpaste, and other toiletries. i'll pac my bags tomorrow. and i mean it, keep me accountable!! I never did make it to the grocery store, so i wil have to grocery shop tomorrow .... oh well...the nite is almost over , goes by quick!

Jen - lol. I must be a mess cause if I didn't have other baby items to occupy my mind I'd be packing my bag now. I like to be super ready. I'll probably have the carseat in the car also by 37 weeks. ;) So GET ON IT!! Your Target rocks. Mine has NO nursing stuff. :(
Oh my on the swelling. I got those comments alot with my first due to the preeclampsia. I'm glad thats not the case with you. My last appt they came in (37 weeks actually) and totally freaked out just looking at me and sent me to the hospital to be induced. (Well that was on top of my BP being whacky and urine with protein and the whole thing. Oh and my blood platlets dropped too low also. anyway!? whatever.) Swelling stinks though!! Thankfully your almost done and it will go away.
Hmm. I'd be careful about that injury. Could just be aggrivating it by exercising more. One time I pulled something (I guess it hurt like heck for a long time) in my upper back/shoulder and couldn't workout that area for quite a while.

Well I opened all my STS cases lol. The videos look just like the clips really so felt like I was watching something I've already seen. I can't get too excited since I'm not doing it now. :p Meso 1 has a big crack in the middle of the case though. The dvd on that one seems fine though. I wonder if they'll send me a new dvd case for Meso 1? I'll contact them later. All the disks look nice and clean. Much better than all the scratches on the CLX disks.

HI everyone :)
Its chilly today here in florida. my poor little shaved doggie is shaking like a chihuahua. Maybe i need to pull out a sweater for her. She has been sleeping a lot lately.

Jess, my target did not have a lot of nursing bra's or tanks. They had a lot of huge sizes like c and d and double d's. Never in my life will i be that big. I wasnt sure what to buy so i got a stretchy one that fits now that has a little give, if by chance of some miracle my boobs finally do grow when the milk comes in lol. They did not have much to choose from tho. Its a little cheaper than what BRUS was selling in their maternity section tho. I figure they will get ruined from milk anyway

I did disk 1 and 2 from STS today. I figured weights wont hurt me its just cardio that aggrevates my soreness :( So i still feel like i did not work out. I must sweat and be all outta breath to get that feeling. Disk 1 did move fast but i just paused and once u get the hang of it its like any other Cathe workout. I loved the colors in the first workout. It went by pretty quick. I peeked at the booklet a lot so i could gauge what was comig next. I never did the one rep maxs. I just lifted what i knew i could handle, maybe a little heavier. I tried to see what Cathe was using since i try to gauge myself off that. But she never announces it, which i knew was going to be the case. Some exercises you can see what weight she is using tho. Disk 2 was good too. I worked my upper body today becuase i did not cardio so i did two workouts to do a full upper body weight workout . i feel pretty worked out. my only complaint on disk 2 is i dont have the pull up tower and the band i subsituted for the chin up/ pull up part did not really cut it. but there werent too many of those :)

gotta grocery shop at some point today. DH is working so its just me and the dog again. I did pack my toiletry bag! And later tonite i will pack the baby bag and my clothing etc. I think i should go by some biiger underpants (lol) that i wont mind throwing awaay. I've read things will get ruined after giving birth...good times!

ok, off to have coffee and make us breakfast, yes breakfast at 130pm lol
hope you all have a great day!

Jen -about undies. I'd get some black comfy but snug cotton grandmas and then some overnight size pads with wings. worked fine for me last time. Didn't have to toss them either. The wings kept it clean and I think if it did get a bit dirty at all it'd wash and you wouldn't be able to tell like lighter ones. As far as things getting ruined during the birth you'll have the hospital gown unless you bring your own. thats the only thing that might be ruined. After the baby is born you can shower and change into comfy sweats/tshirts and your undies and pads and slip into the recovery room bed. I didn't have to toss anything.

Wow so you did 2 STS workouts and you don't feel like you worked out. ha. not sure if thats a bad sign for STS or that your just working yourself too hard. I don't think you should get too outta breath when working out. The whole perceived exertion thing is what you should go by. You should still be able to talk to someone ok if they came in the room. I know you try to make up for off days but still don't overdo it. SO what do you think of the workouts??

I bet your doggie is too cute. ;) Hope you have a successful grocery shopping trip.

jess thanks for your input on the undies lol. i'll have to picksome at target or walmart , opefully this weekend. i still havent grocery shopped. hopefuly i wont have to toss anything but you never know. someone gave me these huge pads, but they dont have wings on them . maybe i should pick some of those up. ugh....back to the store i guess.

did u buy the really really thick overnites with wings or the thin ones? I just dont know what to expect as far as the heavy bleeding goes or if it will be light.

oh, about STS, i do feel worked out. Im feelign pleasantly slightly sore after the weights. I just meant no matter how tough a weigh workout is i dont feel like i truly worked out unless i do cardio to. BEcuase i feel like i need to sweat and really elevate my heart rate. Like IMAX 3 haha. But thats ok becuase i have a slight injury and dont want to make it worse. So weights is better than nothing, right? I like what i've done so far. Its probablyb est to do the 1 RM but im lazy :( and i said i would start AFTER the baby not while preggo but i wanted to test it out. So i dont know how good that is to not do the 1 rm. i tried to figure it out real quick based on the exercises and waht cathe was using and what i know from prior workouts that would fatigue me.

So far, i like it. I think it will be a great program. If only i could eat clean...woudlnt it be nice to look like cathe?? :)

Well your not alone with eating. I keep wanting to snack all the time and keep craving bad things. Stuff I normally don't even think about. Like I saw a girl at the store eating a cream filled chocolate donut and it looked SOO good. lol. I never eat those kinds of things. I didn't get one though but I did eat some sweets at home. ugh! I also ate a loaded dinner last night (shrimp alfredo and garlic biscuits.) I was sooo full too. I weighed more this morning. I hope that all didn't go strait to my hips. I am doing better today though. we'll see. lol. I may try out STS tonight too out of curiosity and just wing it like you did. I can get more serious about it later and do the 1RM thing and whatnot.

mm that dinner sounds really good :) So does the chocolate cream donut
i just got back from the grocery store, i'll hit target later for the under pants and maxi pads.
do you recommend the really thick one with wings? Ugh...its been a LONG time since i've had to wear diaper pads. Yuck-o. Oh well cant complaint becuase i've been period-less for 9 months lol.

I was bad and got edy's coconut pineapple ice cream at the store. it was on sale and i've been eyeballing it for weeks. i finalyl gave in. i'l just have to try to forget its in the freezer and not eat too much out of boredom.

you shouldbe fine winging STS. Depends on how much thoguth you want to put into it and how serious you want to follow it. but you are pregnant, so dont push too hard! I dont know if they recommend it for us. I just figured i'm alsmost due so what the hey. And i was curious. But i did listen to my body and it felt pretty good :)

I have been eating a lot of fetticine alfredo lately too. It is something I usually avoid b/c I KNOW what is in it! Tonight will probably be pizza b/c of the Superbowl.

Last night, I had a horrible stomach ache that woke me from my sleep. It felt flu-like but no vomiting involved. It was so bad that the baby was going absolutely crazy like a spaz. I had to take some Tylenol to get him (and me) to fall back asleep. Is that okay? I mean, once my belly ache went away, he was relentless about the hard squirming so I didn't know what else to do. I drank some milk too to get him to sleep. Anyway, it worked and he didn't kick anymore after about 10 minutes. He is kicking me right now though as I just had cereal!

Have a good Superbowl night! My DH is a huge Steelers fan as we live only about 1 hour from PIttsburgh. (I am a football hater but that's okay. I'll live for one night! Wish Desperate Housewives was on though...)

Clarissa

hi everyone! :)
Clarissa i think tylenol is fine to take when you are pregnant. ibeleive many people take it while pregnant. i have never taken a single thing while pregnant but im pretty sure this is on the safe list. How are you feeling now?

No Housewives tonite?? I love that show and i watch it every week. last week was the same episode that aired two weeks ago. Oh well, gives me no excuse to not pack my hopsital bag tonite. Nope..havent done that yet!!

Today i did STS 3, the legs workout. It went by quick. I like how there are no endless reps of anything. I dont have DOMS but i still have that back/butt injury. I also did Aerobox with Michael Olajide. There was no jumping it was mostly punching drills and abs which i could handle. if i had to jump or run i probably could not have done the workout becuase my butt still hurts on the left side. I really NEED to do cardio. My eating this weekend has been AWFUL and i feel so fat and look fat. Ugh.

Last nite i went to target and found a bunch of maternity clothes on clearance. i got one more nursing bra, some underwear a size bigger than i normally wear, and i got about 5 cute tops. its nice to have tops that are really long and actually cover my belly! Some maternity shirts i have dont quite cover me fully and these were all extra long.

Today i have to pack my bag and also put together the eggplant parm for tomorrow. earlier i made a delicious italian layer dip, my DH Is bringing it to his work for superbowl sunday. if the deputies are not busy with calls they get to watch the game. But i doubt that will be the case. He works where its crazy busy with a constant call volume :(

So, thats my plan for tonite. Back to work tomorrow. Ugh. Wonder when the baby will get here?!?!?! :) Going on 37.5 weeks now!

Happy Superbowl Sunday everyone!!!

Jen.... You are getting so close!! I am amazed that you have the energy to start STS.

Laura... I have weird dreams too. Most nights, I am wide awake @ 2:00 a.m wondering what is wrong. Lately, I have been reliving my past. In a way, it is like a cleansing. I worry about what kind of relationship my baby girl and I will have, and I feel bad that I don't really have a relationship with my mother.

Jess, Tana, Clarissa... how are you ladies doing? are you all watching the superbowl?

I am feeling good this weekend. No major/minor aches. Last night I have a strange craving for fish. So @ 10:00 p.m, I found myself @ Long John Sliver's. I did not like that fish.
Tonight, the fam and I are sitting around eating and watching the football game.

Well.... good night ladies,

Jen - I am sort of jealous you can do STS right now - good for you! Do you like it? Should i get it?? I am not allowed to workout, but I have been sneaking in some upper body lifting while sitting on a stability ball. Nothing big, and it can't hurt me, seriously. It helps w/ my endorphins.

Skyy - no WAY am I watching the Stupidbowl(oops) I mean Superbowl! LOL!
