It's Official - Imax 2 is My New Favorite

I got this DVD a few weeks ago after having only the version I'd recorded off of FitTV for a year.

I love the DVD! It seems like whenever I'm just not in the mood for cardio, I can put this in and before I know it, I've been exercising for 30 minutes. Time just flies! The music is great, too!

And tonight I hit a major milestone. See, I have exercise-induced asthma, so I have to suck on my inhaler before every workout. Still, I usually end up having to take breaks during cardio - just to catch my breath. I can keep it under control pretty well, but it always frustrates me when I can't do an entire workout. I get such a feeling of accomplishment when I can make it through an entire workout without resting.

Well, while I didn't make it through the ENTIRE Imax 2 workout tonight, I did make it through almost all of the first 25 minutes without stopping! I was so proud of myself! I usually only do the first 30 minutes (I'm working my way into it) and peter out for a breathing-break toward the end of blast #1, the middle of blast #2, the beginning of blast #3, but can usually get through the bulk of blast #4. Well, tonight, I made it through EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THE FIRST FOUR BLASTS (except for the very end of blast #3) without stopping once. I was so proud that I did a little happy dance afterward.

I've noticed that as my muscle strength has increased, so has my cardio capacity. I wonder if their is a correlation between having more oxygenated and metabolic muscle and the increased cardio level???

Congratulations Catwoman. Imax 2 is a favorite of mine also. Eventually you will be able to do the whole workout. You are making strides and that's what matters.

Thank you! What's funny is that the other night when I only made it through blast #4 without taking a break (taking breaks through all the other blasts), I was elated! And here it is, just a few days later and I was able to get through THREE of the first four blasts! Woo-hoo!!

I have a lot to live up to, now! From now on, I can't stop during those three blasts. It's now a personal goal of mine! :p

How long before you workout do you use your inhaler? Are you taking any other medicine for your asthma?

And yes, IMAX 2 can always boost your mood. I am trying to decide between IMAX2 and IMAX3 for this morning. I think IMAX3 is winning. The music on both workouts is so good!

That's VERY exciting! Way to go! You should be proud of yourself *does happy dance with Catwoman*

IMAX 2 is my favorite too. I'm doing it tomorrow. I'll think of you while I'm gasping for breath (I don't have asthma - I just gasp for breath at the end of some of those blasts!).

Sometimes I hit my inhaler about 15 minutes before a workout, and sometimes I forget until the last minute to take a "puff" on it...and end up starting my workout within a couple of minutes afterward.

I don't take anything else for my asthma since I am able to keep it pretty much under control with just the inhaler, and since it normally only flares up with heavy duty exercise and exposure to certain chemicals (especially perfume, cologne, and fragrant deoderants & lotions).

By the way, I lauged out loud when I read the "gasping for breath" line in the previous post! :7 Very funny!

Congratulations catwoman! IMAX 2 was my first Cathe DVD and I was a puddle the first time! It has a special place in my heart!

I've been doing IMAX2 quite a bit lately (once a week for several weeks). I reacquired it after figuring out I could modify when I was doing IMAX3. (I don't like pivots, so don't do them, and the "16 genie hops on one foot" move really annoyed me when I first had IMAX2, but now I change it to an alternating, one-leg ski hop). (And the Piña colada mispronunciation bugged me big time, but now I make sure I'm breathing hard during that part, and I don't notice it as much...or if I do, I yell over it!)

I can make it through most of the (other) moves without modifying, but while Cathe's plyo jacks look like a nice big "X" in the air (like she's an open pair of big scissors), mine are more like a tiny little pair of those plastic scissors for kids, opened just a bit! Oh, well, I get better every time.

I think workout like this that challenge one are very important, just think, if you could breeze through the whole thing the way it is the first time around, it wouldn't do much to improve your fitness, and it could get boring pretty fast. But having to work up to doing it as-is all the way through, and making progress each time, THAT gives you some indications of progress and something to celebrate!
