IT'S INAUGURATION DAY!!!!

YEAH, it was an AWESOME day!!!!!!! I watched CNN Live from 6am thru most of the parade, stopping only for a workout & shower!

I kept my 11 yr old son home from school, invited a few friends over, made a nice brunch & we all watched together. Even though I didn't go into DC, I still felt a part of this great moment in history.

Very cool, Karen. I love that you involved your kids that way. That's what is so great about him/this moment - everyone wants to be involved - young and old. I also feel very proud about how the rest of the world suddenly is on "our side." Like we getting a clean slate and people want to work with us. Oddly, Demi Moore said something I found really appropriate - that for the first time in our lifetimes, a truly inspirational figure and moment is something we get to participate in rather than read about in history books. It's very exciting and, well, inspiring!! I love this feeling.

I agree, Arogerson

While I am happy our country elected it's first African-American President, I am not happy it was a democrat. Oh well, you win some, you lose some. He has a tough road ahead of him and it's not going to be easy. I hate to say it.....but I fear we will have another terror attack if he's not tough. You gotta give Bush credit for keeping us safe, no matter how much you hate the guy.

We are far out numbered on this site as far as political views are concerned, and that's why I hesitate to chime in on threads like this. I would have been happier with Hillary if we had to have a dem in the White House.

I, too, am happy that we have elected an African-American Pres (I grew up in the 50's & 60's, so I witnessed a lot of our sad history), but Obama is not experienced enough to suit me. I wish him luck & hope he lives up to his hype.

Let's end the Bush bashing once and for all - he's gone back to Texas already!

The terrorists would've attacked under Clinton or Bush, they planned the attack for almost 7 years!!! Another one could be being hatched easily to come under Obama or the next president - these people are very smart, very patient, and they are not cowards (deranged, delusional, and evil to the max though!)....

Bush was no Republican - he was fiscally bizarre - he didn't "tax and spend" as Democrats are long accused, he taxed and Charged it!!!And he is no mental giant, I accuse the Congress of both parties of being weak and ineffective and spineless.

What I do like is that Obama has some old conservatives working with him, no "yes"men sycophants, he is inviting debate and hooting down the partisan politics of both parties to force national debate.

God be with him....

Agreed about terrorist attacks. Terrorists plan these attacks for 4-10 years. It took 7 years to plan 9/11 and they are, as you said, "patient." I guarantee you the radical's are and HAVE BEEN planning their next big attack as I write this, if not against us directly, against our allies (Spain... England...). As they do their planning they aren't thinking who the President of the United States is and they could care less about American political party affiliation. Obama is American. Period. Nothing else matters. Then add to that the fact that many hardline Muslim fundamentalists are upset that his middle name is Hussein and he's Christian (as if his middle name is anything HE had any control over...) who's "rejected his Muslim faith" as one radical leader recently said. Nevermind that his dad was a hit-and-run and he, thus, never had any exposure to Islam while growing up. But that's the radical fundamentalists.

The entire mainstream Islamic world is a potentially different story and they may be confused as to how to take such a man. They aren't the guys planning attacks but rather, ordinary citizens, who, though angry at us for myriad reasons, have never been angry enough to heed the fundamentalist call to take up arms against us. They're the one's watching our new president with great interest, quietly considering some new though undeniable facts about US: A predominantly white America chose as their new president a black man, with a Muslim middle name who, during his inauguration, uttered words about extending a hand to those who unclench their fists. They are flat-out astonished we chose Barrack HUSSEIN Obama as our new president after the horror of 9/11 and they're realizing now that they've never really understood who WE are (and that they've underestimated our ability to distinguish and, thus, our level of intelligence), just as we've never really understood them. You'll never change a radical terrorist so attacks will likely never cease altogether. However, having Barrack Obama as the leader of our nation is bound to have a huge long-term impact on recruitment to the radical fundamentalist Muslim call. Hallelujah to that.

There is much I blame George W. Bush for but I do not blame him for 9/11, just as nobody should blame Barrack Obama for the inevitable forthcoming terrorist attack on America.
