It's enough to make you feel OLD!

Vilma,
thank you for the good laugh! I did not in any way find the link offensive. It really made my day.

Now, I usually don't think 51 is old (though when I was turning 50, I did feel down about it because I suddenly noticed all these messages about "if you're 50 or older" you have to be careful about somethings. And I got an AARP membership offer---which I took up, for the discounts!--in the mail).

I just got my mail today, and included in it were the following two "makes you feel old"' pieces:
1)an announcement "funeral advantage program assists seniors" (I'm a senior?), inviting me to sign up for a plan that would pay my family up to $20,000 tax free in the event of my death.

2)publicity for a long-term care insurance, to pay for nursiing home or at-home health-care costs (actually, this second one might not be a bad idea)

Where's my Geritol?

When I get mails like that usually I go and swing some heavy a**ed kettlebells, do some real push ups and burpees and feel much better.
I advice you to do the same thing! ;-)

I knew I was "old" back when they had the 30th anniversary of STAR WARS! They were announcing it on the radio, and my son turns to me and asks: "Well, does that make you feel old?" He is still living, however.

But when aforementioned son was a 3-year-old, we did get a card from our insurance company reminding him that he needed a mammogram.!?

Kathryn, that was just junk mail. No reason to get all worked up. I get stuff from the AARP all the time--addressed to me--& I'm still about 15 years away from being eligible for their programs.

Edit: Stacey, if you're looking into long term care insurance I strongly recommend you do not wait! It gets more expensive as you get older. I priced it at age 35 & it was over $300 a month, I can't even imagine how much it'd cost at 55!

I don't either (well...until I look in a mirror, and don't recognize that 'older woman' as me. Aren't I still 30? Maybe 35, but not older than that!)

I turned 51 this year - when I first got my AARP I couldn't believe they were talking about me - I feel the same way you do :) and I am very glad !
