Is Turbo Jam for advanced exercisers?

This morning I saw the infomercial for Turbo Jam and it claims you can burn 1,000 cal/hr. The testimonials I saw were all people who were not exercisers before they did Turbo Jam. So my question is has anyone tried it and would you consider it advanced?

Hi Jen,
Just my 2 cents...
I bought the advanced tapes: Cardio Party 3, Fat blaster and Kick Punch and Jam. I like them. But they are different from KPC and Kickmax -- which I'd definitely call advanced and overall I like the Cathe tapes much better.

I think the Turbo Jams, IMO are interm/advanced -- if you already know the basic moves. if you didn't know the basic moves, I think it would be much harder.

The overall pace is much faster than KPC. In KPC and KM, you build into a finished combo more gradually, whereas in Turbo Jam, the build into a finished combo is quicker,

I'm glad I got them as part of a menu of stuff to do for kickboxing. They are fun to have to mix things up.

Jen -

I believe they say you can burn "up to 1000 calories an hour" which means it's somewhere between 1 and 1000. :)

Seriously, I think you'd have to weigh well over 200 pounds and go all out to burn that many calories. According to my HR monitor, I burn 350 calories in CP1 which is about 40 min. Haven't tried the Maximum Results ones yet but they're on the way. (Somewhere in Illinois or Wisconsin about now.)

IMO CP1 is intermed/advanced and CP2 Remix is intermediate - when I go all out. The nice thing about these workouts is you can work as easy or hard as you want which is why beginners can use them and do the low impact modifications shown.

Honestly, it is as hard as "you" want to make it. You set the pace and decide how much energy you are going to put into it and that will determine how much you will burn. If you kick higher you will burn more...it really is as simple as that.

I had a rare opportunity to attend a Turbo jam class led by Chalene this morning at Lifetime fitness and I was sweating bullets! (She must be on some sort of tour because I live in Texas.) Her class was tough and she was hopping (her pace is fast!)...I have to say, she is definitely as much fun as she is on her DVDs. I should also add that I have never been to a class where people had so much fun and worked so hard. Then again, I never had the opportunity to go on one of Cathe's roadtrips (work tends to get in the way)....:( Ah, maybe this year????

I really enjoy Turbo Jam....I feel like a 46 year old kid while I do it. ;-) For me, it's fun, but of course, not everyone enjoys the same thing. Everyone has to decide for themselves if it suits them.

Too funny!
I saw it the other day and have been meaning to ask if anyone has done it!! I was thinking of ordering it but wanted feedback first. It looks like it'll be fun.

I have several of the Turbo Jam workouts. Charlene is energetic and it's easy to get into the workouts. I would agree that they are intermediate/advanced, but are really fun to add in.
