IS- thick waist anyone?

Hello All,

Well, I'm loving the Intensity Series and all of the great benefits that come along with it; yet, I'm noticing that I'm definitely thicker in the waist / oblique area as a result. And I know that I haven't gained any weight after the tough / fun rotations that I've been doing. (Thanks, by the way, Amyfit for all of the great rotations).

Hey, it's muscle so I shouldn't really care as long as I'm healthy and strong, right? :D

Is anyone else noticing this and modifying to avoid this "bulk"? Just curious. Keep up the hard work everyone.

I've got it too. Maybe some like it, me? I'm not so sure. At the moment, I don't work abs every day anyway, around 3/4 times per week max. So I am going back to and focussing on traditional abs exercises as featured on Cathe vids up until the I-series, with 1 I-series ab section with all the oblique work per week. I am not a fan of the Sly Stallone look on my body, thanks!

on me, I've noticed the jiggly fat is more evident since doing the core work. I'm guessing it's the muscle pushing the fat toward the surface more.
Anyone else have ideas?

I have been doing a couple of IS core workouts a week. I alternate the other days with the abs from other Cathe workouts and Firm Volume I. Knock on wood, it has been working very well and I see more definition. So far, I haven't gotten "thicker". I hope that doesn't happen. Once in a while, if I do a week with all IS workouts, I go ahead and do the core work that goes with that workout. But I usually substitute a couple of traditional ab workouts during the week. Oh, and one thing that I do is on the days of PUB and PLB is that I run a couple of times per week. That seems to help a lot with my core!

Everyone is so different.:D
The Intensity Series helped thin out my waist, but...I do other ab work, more cardio and walk/run on the treadmill.
The core exercises worked areas that never got hit before on me.

I asked Cathe one time, (before IS) what was the fastest way to whittle down the waist area, she suggessted to give my body a shock. She said to more cardio or a different cardio than I was used to. Since she runs, I upped my speed on the treadmill.

This was just my exeperience, a combination of both core work and higher intensity. :D

I hate a thick waist too. LOL

I too recall Cathe saying running twice a week really keeps her midsection trimmer.

I'm so thick waisted as it is I sure don't want my any more so from the IS or any other series, so far not noticed that however.

Thanks everyone for the responses. :) Claire, your email made me laugh so hard... Sly Stallone... I know, I'm not really liking it, either.

I've definitely considered running regardless, for cardio purposes, so that feedback was excellent. I intend to lay off on the IS abs for a while and switch to other cathe abs sections.

I don't really have the problem of a "thick waist", per se. In January I was at 25" and noticed about a 1/2" difference since the IS tapes, to be specific. I think that maybe toning down on all of the specific oblique crunches inIS will help out. This forum is so great. Thanks again, everyone!

Keep up the hard work :)

I've noticed the same thing on me. I was getting bummed but if I'm no the only one, then maybe it is the muscle thickening and pushing out wider. (That's what my husband suggested as well.)
