I think p90x is worth it. Even though I love Cathe and have been doing Cathe's workouts since 1987, p90x took me to the next level because I was in a rut. I couldn't have been as successful with p90x if I hadn't been doing Cathe for so long, but p90x has also helped me to take Cathe's workouts to the next level. Variety is the spice of life and for me, the change is good. No matter what workouts you choose, you always have to train smart. Honestly, I got great results with X+ too and I did the full 90 days. Once STS comes out I'll be set for a long time; STS, p90x, X+ and then some maintenance with Cathe in between.
I LOVE P90X and I LOVE Tony. I think he's got a great attitude and I don't mind his silly jokes. I think people can be too serious and he's just having fun so who cares? Good for him for having such a good time. I wish I was always that happy! But I know he just rubs some people the wrong way.
I'm doing P90X for the 3rd time and this time I'm shaking it up a little by doing my own leg workouts b/c I want to lift heavier - adding an extra one in each week and doing my own cardio and adding in extra cardio b/c I'm a cardio junkie. I will be doing PlyoX but I won't be doing KenpoX b/c I like more intense cardio and I won't be doing YogaX b/c I hate yoga. I'll be doing cardio on that day. As for anyone thinking it's not that hard, you can keep upping your weights to make it harder. And until I can master pullups, it's the hardest thing I've ever done! But I WILL master those pullups this time!!! Just ask the gals on the Hardcore checkin. That's ALL I talk about.
I was bored to tears with the repetitive workouts, but I was unbelievably amazed at the strength gains I achieved with this program. I stuck with it for the 3 months, found the cardio not as difficult as Cathe, but could push out more push ups, pull ups and chin ups, and upped the weight by 25+% on all upper body, more than I ever imagined (and promptly lost the ability for a multiple of those when I stopped the program) When I do it again I will sub Cathe or other cardio for the cardio in P-90X. Kenpo and Plyo kinda got old. And the 90 minute yoga was a choir, but it did make me go find a few yoga DVDs I enjoy.
I was in decent shape when I started it, so I never saw a earth shattering transformation. Damn it!!
