Hi, Bernard. It's not that they are boring for me but rather I got gypped on the dance gene and so I always feel awkward doing mambos and chachas, etc.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-21-02 AT 02:21PM (Est)[p]I despise mambos, chachas, pivots....can't stand 'em! It's not that I don't have a dance gene, I just think they feel silly and make the workout seem wimpy. Ok, done venting now!

WIMPY!? AGH!

Well then call me a wimp for sure cuz I welcome a tame little mambo in the midst of all the intense stuff that Cathe does. ;-) Seriously, I get an incredible workout every time - when those mambos come along it's like a mini-recovery for me.

actually mambos I love. I hate scoop moves. Really cannot see the point and I get irritated with how much of it Cathe does on Cardio kicks and one of the CTX series videos. It's like they're a filler or something. If I'm gonna move, give me a real move, please!!!

One of my few complaints about a Cathe video!

Count me in as a mambo/cha-cha hater. The only thing I dislike more is to twirl at the end of either one of those moves. I have become an expert at modifying out all offending moves from my tapes. I am so grateful for the vast amount of tapes to please the mambo lovers and mambo haters of the world. It has made working out so much easier and fun. Have a great day. Janet

I'm am okay with mambos--although not in Cardio Kicks because I feel cheated of more kickbox-like moves. I think the mambos and cha cha's in Rhtymic Step are great. And I love the back mambo cha cha cha in Step & Intervals.

But I am with you on not liking scoops. Scoops on the floor always get replaced with hamstring curls with a lat pull down type of arm if I am on the floor. A scoop on the step is a small high-impact knee up or a regular repeater.

I dont like pivots because they make me dizzy. I always insert another mambo in its place. But I would rather be doing other moves instead of mambos and pivots.

Noooo, it is not only you....I also don't like mambos, cha chas, scoops, twirls...etc...etc...etc...I feel they are silly and make me feel dumb. Its kinda like "get real and give me some real moves..." type of thingy. I would rather have a more challenging transition move. Oh, I also can't stand all of the double grapevines! All of the mentioned moves have made me more than one shelf a Cathe video for months...and years. They really frustrate me. Because of the foregoing....I have opted to do more weights than step. Sad 'cause I love to step.

Good thread.

I think too many mambos is boring, but a few thrown in here of there are o.k., depending on what they are mixed in with.

What I really HATE, though, is when instructors say "mambA" (poisonous snake) instead of "mambO." (Cathe, of course, knows which is which!)
