IPOD

BF wants an IPOD for Christmas and I was looking at the 30g model (for like $300) that holds something like 7,500 songs, DVD, video, etc.

Does anyone have one of these? They are relatively new, aren't they? I am just wondering if I am wasting my time shopping around and trying to get a better or sale price.

I haven't seen it advertised anywhere else for less. My DH looked at one but the sales guy at Best Buy said that unless he was looking to actually use it for Videos...to go with another brand. The only good thing about Ipod's are that there are tons of EXPENSIVE accesories for them.

apple is one of those companies that doesn't allow stores to discount their product (without persission... HP is the same way!)

the best you may find is an add on... i.e..... best buy may sell it for the retail price.. but add on either some music cards.... or some free cd's or something....

cute work out clothes are good for AT LEAST an additional 10-15 calories burned!

Rats! I had a feeling that the price was pretty certain but thought I'd check! Always looking out for those bargains!

If you don't already have one....target offers 10% off if you sign up for a credit card. I'm not sure about best buy or the other stores. I think Sears carries the Ipod and gives first time c.c. customers a discount....

Just an idea.

Is your BF stuck on IPOD?

Has Apple worked out the battery issue yet. The IPOD's rechargeable battery eventually fails to take a charge and Apple had hard wired the battery in so that they had to go back for an expensive repair trip.

Other MP players of course have replaceable batteries.

I place Steve Jobs in the same category as Bill Gates, boo hisss

Between my husband and kids we've owned 6 mp3 players in the last few years. I'm anti IPOD though, I think they are overhyped and there are other products just as good out there.

Hi there,

I did have a problem with my first iPod, but the second one has worked like a charm, I hope I didn't jinx myself. I did just buy my dh that video one for x-mas.. He's really into gadgets and knows how to get things off the Tivo, so I thought he would be able to download to his iPod. We will see. There are a lot of other iPods to choose from though.

I hate that there's never any discounts on stuff too! x(

Good luck finding the right one.:)

Even though this is my post, I actually have an IRiver MP3 player and I love it. It is small, compact and very easy to use.

"Ducky what Mp3 player would you recommend?"

I'm sure IPOD is a great mp3 player and would be a fine choice for anyone. I just get tired of the IPOD worship when there are others just as good that cost less.

It depends how much memory you are looking for. I like Creative's products, and the RIO Carbon is a good choice too. (I haven't bought an mp3 player for a year now so my insights may be outdated). If 512MB would do I like the Creative MuVo, it's tiny and it just plugs dierctly into your computer, showing up as a drive so you can click and drag files. The click dial control is a little primative but it works fine. For more memory I like the Rio Carbon and the Creative Zen Mini. They are both 5GB. The touch screen on the Creative Micro takes some getting used to, but once you are used to it, it's nice. These are some of my favorites.
