Intensity or Blast series

Hi everyone, I am a brand new Cathe fan, I found her on FitTV and really enjoy her! I have been using the Firm for over a year and really want more of a challenge and I think I've found that with Cathe. I want to go ahead and order some of her videos and I really cannot decide whether to get the Intensity or Blast series. I've done a lot of the Blast videos on FitTv and really like them, they are so much fun - I have not done much on the Intensity series - I've done boot camp and LOVE IT! Which should i get? I really like aerobics but love weight training too. I am leaning toward the Intensity series as it seems like I'll get results quickly from it, but I would like to get some feedback from those that have experience with both series. I guess I can't lose either way, but it's so much money and my DH is going to kill me so I want to make sure I'll really enjoy it! TIA!

I have to vote for the Intensity Series. I think there is NOTHING better! I had great results w/it and am anxiously waiting her next set that is similar. I sware I know every single word she says by heart on this series! It is worth every penny. Although the Blast Series is good, it just doesn't kick my butt like the Intensity Series! I think the Intensity Series is more "athletic" in nature and just a set of kick butt workouts!

Let us know what you decide!

p.s. If I were you I would buy them both eventually! I love L&G in the blast series!
 
That is such a tough call. The Intensity Series is awesome. It's really tough, but fun at the same time, and, it's got my all-time favorite weight workouts - The Pyramids. IMAX 2 is another favorite.

The Body Blast Series, on the other hand, has the better set of premixes. You end up with so many more options with this series. There are tons of great circuit premixes (if you like circuits) that combine K,P&C with Legs/Glts. There are quite a few step circuit premixes as well. Step Blast is my current favorite step workout and K,P&C is my favorite kickboxing workout. I've only just begun to use the two weight workouts in this series, so I can't really comment too much on them yet.

What is your current fitness level? If you are already advanced, then you'll likely be ready for the Intenities. However, if you are just working up to advanced, perhaps you should begin with Body Blast, because it's generally thought to be a bit less intense.

In the end, I bet you'll end up with both (you won't be able to help yourself!).

Why restrict yourself to one series or the other? Why not mix and match the workouts from both series that you think you would like the most? The Pyramids are very popular for strength, KPC and SJP for cardio and circuit, IMAX2 is great for intervals, etc.

So your'e a beagle fan? I have four bassets and a bloodhound cross. It's very musucal around here. Do you have 13 or 15 inch? I love beagles, too. I was just reading about their special ability to combine scent and vision in their tracking tasks.

Good luck deciding, you won't be disappointed, you'll just want to get them all eventually.

Thank you all so much for your input. I hadn't thought about the mixing and matching, I could do that too I guess. I thought it was cheaper to buy the series but it doesn't save that much. I would consider myself to be intermediate/advanced (leaning more toward advanced) exerciser. Ann, I have a 13 inch beagle. Oh boy, I can imagine how "musical" your house is with 5 hounds! I will think about it and let you all know which I decided on. Thanks again!

Intensity series without a doubt. The only workouts I regularly do from the Blaast Series are the SJP and Step blast. I could easily live without Push/Pull, L&G and Supersets. Never do them. How many more endurance workouts do we need?

The I series contributes much , much more to my workout library. Imax 2 is tough and fun intervals, C&W is fun circuits for a lighter day, the Boot camp premixes are fab, so I disagree with the earlier poster re: premixes, and the Pyramids are new and innovative strength training workouts. ME is the least useful of the lot IMHO, especially if you already have PH etc. The core work on the I series is second to none.

If I had to buy either series again, the I series is the only one of the 2 that I would spend money on again.

Now, if you asked me which is better, I series or CTX series, ha! CTX would win hands down. Every single workout on it is a winner and I use them all constantly. 5 different cardio workouts in 4 diferent cardio styles, straight cardio and cardio circuits and cardio intervals. Plus the best lower body workout Cathe ever made Leaner Legs and a fabulous upper body split. You can do cardio every day, plus train one or two body parts per day, or you can mix and match anyy two cardio sections for a heart thumping cardio sesion and do the total body weight training on another day.

Personally I think CTX is the best value, followed by I series, then Blast series. But hey, that's just my opinion!!!

Another vote for the Intensity Series!

I've got entire Blast Series but only do the Step Blast & Step Jump and Pump. For some reason, the weighted work in this series does not appeal to me -- too "finicky". I guess I just like traditional "gym-style" weight training better. Like Upper Body Pyramids.

Another vote for the Intensity series. It really knocked some pounds off me when I was doing it exclusively--and I have kept them off. I haven't used the weight workouts as much on the Body Blast Series, but I love SJP, KPC, and SB--use them a lot. I did surprise myself with real soreness though on the Legs and Glutes tape. For some reason I rebel at the some of the exercises. I hate the legsweeps on the floor at the end, for example, and dread them. I get breathless with the one-legged squats and raises with legweights, too, and find myself wishing for a longer break after the legpresses at the beginning--followed very quickly by hover squats. I try to tell myself that the varied weight work on these BB tapes is good for me, but I, too, find them finicky.
 
DITTO TO INTENSITY SERIES...I HAVE THE ENTIRE BLAST SERIES, BUT I AM ALWAYS REACHING FOR INTENSITY SERIES BECAUSE I 'ENJOY' THE VIDEO/WORKOUTS MORE....
 
Just casting another vote for the Intensity Series. The workouts are better balanced and more varied, no one has had problems with the DVD's not working right in their players (like the Body Blast Series), the music is better (IMO). Then again, KPC and Legs and Glutes is pretty good. Maybe you could get IS and just that one DVD from BB?

i was asking the exact same question over at ya ya's cuz i'm torn between the two and can't decide.. i'd love to buy both.. but DH would absutely kill me!

after all the responses here... i may get intensity and just get KPC/L&G (i'm a new kickboxing lover thanx to CTX!)

I have both series and I say:

Get the intensity series and then just get the Timesaver DVD from the bodyblast series - you'll get the cardio workouts from the kick/punch/crunch - most of the leg workout from Legs/glutes - the step portion and I think all of the hi/lo from step/jump/pump - plus all the weight work from step/jump/pump and bonus footage. There is also cardio from the Step/blast.

You just don't get supersets and push/pulls - which is not my favorite Cathe weight workout.

The Intensity series has some of my favorite workouts and I do them all the time.

Just my two cents.
