Instructors: Have you stolen a Cathe-ism?

I was teaching a cardio and weights class last night and we were doing lunges. After working the right side, we shook out our legs a little and got ready to do the left side. And before I could stop myself, this just popped out of my mouth: "What you do to one side, you do to the other." OMG! I just plagiarized Cathe!

Not to worry, I quickly said to my class, "That's a line from one of my fitness DVD's". I didn't get too in depth with it, because we were already moving on... I'm not sure who would really know who Cathe was anyway. It was kind of a beginner class. :)

Anyway, have any other instructors "borrowed" a saying or a combo from Ms. Friedrich for their classes? Just curious -- and I shouldn't feel guilty, right???

Have a good day!

OMG I do it *all* the time without meaning to!!! LOL, but really, I use her (and others') form pointers almost exclusively and sometimes the other things they each say. I don't mean to, it just comes out.

I don't do choreography in bootcamp so I don't steal; I'm sure I'd steal if I were doing other classes! I do steal moves and a bazillion ab moves all the time. So long as I've put them together myself I don't feel too badly about it.

It's funny you posted this today; I caught myself saying something Cathe says that I never thought I'd use in a class. LOL I have no idea what it was now, but I remember kind of catching myself earlier! ;)

I'm not an instructor, but I've often thought how the way she says "UP, UP, UP" would be perfect to wake up the kiddos when they were younger. I can just see her walking to her sons rooms saying "UP, UP, UP" to get them up in the morning.

Absolutely! I've used the "what you do to one side..." a few times, for sure. Probably my favourite is when I instruct my class to "ASSUME your push up posi-TION!!!!!!!!!"

Oh, and when we're holding our isometric barbell curls, I always give an evil laugh. What's five minutes of bicep curling without a good evil laugh at the end?!

And who can teach a full-body resistance training class without using the phrase "No time for down time!"? Another goodie!

Thank you Cathe, for giving this instructor some personality LOL! :D

"Its a break not a vacation" has apparently become my trademark...a client finished the sentence for me the other night.... adding "I know, I Know - not a vacation" as she rolled her eyes!"

Cracked me up because when Cathe uses her -ism's on me I ALWAYS roll my eyes & mumble something not so nice under my breathe!
