'Insanity' Series

Cathlete
I know that I have talked with some one here a while back in regards to the Insanity Series but for the life of me can not find the post.
I have Insanity comming in a few days and just wanted to see if anyone out there has done the series . I love cardio, but want to stear away from the step work outs for a while. I didn't get a whole lot of info on the series; all I know is that Insanity is more cardio focused, and P90X is more weight training focused.

I just wanted some more hard core cardio DVD's to rotate in with my Cathe work outs. ( Right now I'm doing Linda's 'One Potato- Two Potato' rotation ) so I'll be able to tackel Insanity after that. I heard it's is really tough, so if anyone has done this , let me know what you think; advice, results, etc. ( without scaring me ! )
Also plan on getting Cathe's new Intensity. Sounds like those ship out Oct. 31 so November is going to be a busy one for me.

Thanks,
Morgs

Hi,

I have done both P90X and Insanity rotations in their entirety. Insanity is
extreme cardio intensity and you will use your own body weight rather than weights. Its definitely a[/CENTER] cardio based workout, its alot of fun. I modified alot because I have knee issues so I was always careful to keep my knees soft not stiff and wear good shoes and just make the movements smaller to make them more doable. But I did do the entire Insanity rotation and loved it. Its fun, its intense but it gets the job done. Think Drill Max or HiiT workouts of Cathe's but turned up several notches. You don't need equipment but I would stress getting some great crosstrainers for lateral movement and cushioning stability for the impact movements. Now, P90X I did feel that its an excellent example of what elements an exercise rotations should have in it. I did feel there wasn't enough Cardio for me or leg work so I added on to the workout by supplementing it with Cathe's workouts. I felt that gave me what I needed. I think that's because I do workout regularly so I was at a level that needed that extra. If I were brand new to exercise and started with P90X as a first venture into working out at home its very well thought out and one that I'd recommend. I am a huge cathe fan and do her exercise dvds regularly and I also use Turbo Fire, Aerobox, 30 Min to Fitness dvd's by Kelly Coffey-Meyer, and Amy Bento to name the ones I use most often.

I say viva la difference variety is the spice of life and its always good to have lots of great go to workouts. I find that it keeps things fresh and interesting that way and I can change them up with my exercise moods. I did purchase P90X+ as well but have not gotten around to doing that one yet. I did enjoy P90X and got that after I finished it because I felt it would have been better if I had more intensity or more dvd's to add in with it. I will do more P90X workouts in the future and look forward to that. I did feel that the weight work was good but not as thorough as Cathe's its just different.

I know you'll love insanity, its a blast and Shaun T can get you to do what you thought was impossible fitness wise. He's amazing and I love his energy.

Good luck and happy insanity rotation!

Hugs!

Nora

Thanks Nora ! Exactly what I was looking for. I do not plan on quitting Cathe's work outs by any means, but, after I get through my next rotation, I want to try Insanity , and THEN re-start my Cathe Rotations. ( with hopes to have a couple of Cathe's new ones that come out Oct. 31st. )

One of the guys that I work with has P90x , and I actually did try a couple of the 'cardio' DVD's. Man,, I was not impressed at all. I did not feel challenged in any way ( not sure why ) BUT when I saw Insanity, I knew there was a reason for the name. Can't wait ,,,I am a Cardio freak so this one will suit me just fine !

Thanks again !!

Yup. INSANITY is hard core cardio... I did INSANITY and P90X. I found that the INSANITY was a little hard for me to do on a daily basis; especially for the entire duration of the program.
I ended up doing a hybrid. P90X with INSANITY cardio mixed in.

WOW ! And Judging by the pics you have attached it definately worked. Nice ab definition girl !!
Ya know the worst part of the whole thing, ,,is having enough patience for it to come in the mail , but once I get it ( and get through it lord willing ) I too may be able to mix my co-workers P90x with my Insanity. But, by that time, I'll have Cathe's new Intensity and really want to try that one too.
Oh so many kick ass work outs, so hard to choose which comes first !

Gotta do KPC tonight,,,I'll focus on that one for now ;)

LOL! I know. So many workouts, so little time. I have quite a collection. ALL of Cathe's and about 300 more!

Wow - over 300 workouts?!? Do you have many that you dont use anymore because they aren't challenging?

I have mostly gotten rid of or traded the ones that I didn't find challenging. Although looked through them today and realized how many of them I haven't done in such a long time. I'm sure there are a few I would part with. lol
