Insanity question

Hi,

I just found out about the Insanity Workout and am interested in getting it. But, I really want to know more about the calendar that comes with the DVD set...I like the idea of having a calendar to follow for the full 60 days, but I'm afraid it might require a workout 7 days a week or something I won't be able to do. I know I can always use the DVDs according to my own rotation, but I am hoping to be able to follow a program strictly the way I'm supposed to. :)

Can anyone here who has the DVDs let me know how the program is structured? I need a program that is no more than 5 workouts per week, although I prefer 4 days as that fits better with my crazy schedule.

You could go 5 days a week, just keep them in the same order and it would be a 2 1/2 month rotation. I don't think one less day per week would matter much. Or you could skip the Cardio/Max cardio DVD but they are actually toning workouts and a beneficial "break" during the week.

I am only one week into the program so don't have much "experience" other than they are totally killer workouts. Be ready to sweat and feel a great endorphin "high" afterwards. :p
 
Wow, thank you so much for the information! I might be able to squeeze in 5 workouts a week using this system, especially since on most weeks it looks like one of the workouts is repeated. If I can manage to stick to that, I would be very satisfied!

It may be too early to tell, but do you find that it seems you are getting enough strength training with this rotation? I like the idea of doing more cardio than usual (for me), but I don't want to cut back on strength training too much.

Hi Lindsay,

I am in my second month of Insanity, I continue to do a modified strength training workout 3 days per week while doing Insanity. You do get quite a bit of upper body work ie,push ups, planks, shoulder pushups, punching, jabbing, etc., if you follow the routine as outlined. Your core also gets quite a workout. There are many pylometric moves and squats therefore your legs do get a tremendous workout. I do not feel that your strength training will suffer while doing Insanity if you decrease your regular strength training regime.
