INSANE PARTY - Thurs, 9/10

Good Morning Y’All!!

MR is done and again I felt particularly fatigued by the hip openers & plank up & downs at the end. I happened to run out of my Results & Recovery formula a couple of days ago. I got R&R for the first time ever towards the beginning of Insanity and have had it after every workout. I’m wondering if this fatigue is because I’m in the home stretch of Insanity (next week is my last) or if the R&R formula has been helping me along?

Dawn - Thanks for keeping me company in the doggin' category ;)

Sandra - Thank you for your always kind & encouraging words. Glad you liked MCC and hope that the needle therapy works for you ;)

Regina - ^5s on MIP. My DH has been doing Insanity as well so he understands the insanity :p

Brenda - I agree with you on how anyone is adding more to Insanity - particularly during M2. I’m impressed !! We both have one more week :D

Marianne - I like that younger DH comment. I’m already older than my DH, so I would have to trade for a much younger model;) CCB & L&G - you go girl!!!

Happy Thursday everyone - it’s almost the weekend again - Yippee!:eek:

Good Morning (well not for me),
The day did not start off right for me :( so I'll have to try and squeeze in MR later today).

Brenda, Oh nooooosirrreee I AM NOT doing STS AND Insanity. I'm not quite that crazy. Sorry for the confusion. M2 W1 D3 MCC was short for Month 2 Week1 Day 3 in the Insanity rotation. I was trying to let everyone know where I was in the Insanity rotation not imply I was doing Meso2 of STS. The Month 2 workouts are enough on there own for me

Colleen, I noticed some soreness in my muscles last night too (especially in the tri's). Good thing I'm no longer sore because when I previewed MR it had a fair amount of stretching, but it also had a fair amount of strength work (with no cardio to speak of).

Sandra, I don't fast very well either. I have been eating about 5 meals a day (all about the same amount of calories), so it' not like I missed 1 of 3 meals. I only missed about 300 calories. Oh, and you just don't stop do you?? ;)

Regina, I was also thinking Insanity as a great primer to Shock Cardio. I think its working perfect that I concentrated on strength for a 3-1/2 month rotation of STS, went to Insanity to concentrate on Cardio and then can marry the two with STS Strength and Cardio. I just don't know where to go from there. :D

Jennifer, I used to use the R&R (before the price and S&H went up). It did make a little bit of difference in muscle soreness. I have since found a recovery drink I like much more. It uses whey protien which is supposed to be better post workout then soy and uses more glutimine/amino acid (I'm pretty sure BB's R&R is soy since it mentions you can drink it during the the workout - whey is a supposed to be no no before and during workouts). Anytime you need a "fellow dogger" just let me know. :p

No INSANITY for me today. I did my cross training workout at the Y...run, cycle, circuit weights, pilates! Cardio kettlebell class tonight....my 1st teaching...very excited! :D

Keep up the INSANITY!

Becky

Hi Y'all,
Today was the last day of week 7-CCB.I did this workout after teaching a power yoga class and I forgot about those darn shoulder burners at the end, such a joy after doing tons of chatarungas and plank work. I had to squeeze my abs very tight to relieve that BURNING IN MY SHOULDERS.

Dawn: I hope your day gets better!!

Jennifer: Those plank up and downs were killer for me this week also. I've been using the recovery formula all the way through and I have also felt particularly fatigued this week. I think it is because we are in the home stretch- not quit like mile 22 in a marathon but definitely running out of gas. Rest day tomorrow will be very restorative.

Sandra: I worked for an acupuncturist several years ago and I am a firm believer in the power of those needles. I have seen amazing results and have experienced first hand the healing of both acute and chronic issues.

Becky: ROCK THE HOUSE TONIGHT- we want the details tomorrow!!

have a great day everyone,
Brenda

Hi everyone !!
recovery max for me today, late I use to do my workout in the morning, but today I went to my daughters class to help, so right now I'm going to do it....

Nice job everyone I see some of you guys are on the 3th week of the second month.
How excited that is..

What kind of recovery drink you guys drink?
I have the Volumanize BSN and I like it, actually I drink this during the workout.

Have a good day everyone.

Back from class! It was fun! it's a very small class...lol! Basically, tonight there was one participant and one co-instructor plus myself! :p It was a very laid back 1st class and will definitely help me as I transition into solo teaching. I did the spin part of class and definitely want to burn a CD of my own for next week. My friend and co-instructor did the kettlebell half of class, but she talked to me after class and says she plans to drop out by the end of the year...or sooner. So, looks like I will be flying solo! I'm definitely going to look into pursuing certification....just have to decide what one.
Be warned...I'll be asking LOTS of questions!;)
I hope everyone else had a great day!

Becky

Good evening Ya'll!!

Today was STS Disc 27 (Meso 3, shoulders, triceps, biceps), and Max Recovery. I can see why you don't need much additional, if any, upper body work with Month 2. Max Recovery works it all real good! Having said that, I'm going to persist with STS M3, because I want to focus on that kind of lifting. I'm going to do Max Recovery, and just accept that my performance won't be as good with tired arms as it could otherwise be. Like today :D. I took lots of breaks when we were in those never-ending planks and push ups. I also needed lots of breaks during those leg burner-crazy things. My quads are tired! And that went on fooooooooorever! I also didn't want to completely blow the poor things out; I have to teach cycle in an hour.

Looks like everyone here is working at an Insane level. Nice job! Thanks for motivating me to pull these discs out day after day. I hope everyone is seeing some nice benefits by now? If you are, let us all know!!

Jennifer - Yes, I'd bet the farm that the RR drink has been having a positive effect, and you're feeling the effects of not having it. There's a lot of scientific research done on when/how/what to feed the body before/during/after exercise, and there's definitely an art to it. If you're not going to buy any more RR, then at a minimum have a drink that has a 1:4 protein:carbohydrate ratio in it. And simple carbs are the best at that point. Chocolate milk fits the bill perfectly, believe it or not. But a more nutritional alternative is preferred, of course. I like to have something that's high in anti-oxidants, to help in cellular repair. For me, that's usually an actual meal, with lots of veggies or fruit (a protein smoothie, perhaps?).

Becky - Excellent report on the class tonight! Teaching can become addictive.....You circuit class sounded like lots of fun, too. We don't offer cycle circuits like that at our Y, because we don't have enough room around the bike area. In a couple years they're adding on a studio room, and then we'll be able to have fun like that.

Brenda - Yes, I think the needles ARE indeed helping! Who'd a thunk? I'm glad to hear you've seen some success stories. I actually can't wait for my next appointment (Tuesday night).

Well gang, this is the last you'll hear from me until probably Monday. I'm heading out early tomorrow morning to a ymca instructor fitness retreat. We're going into the heart of the Albertan wilderness to a lovely lodge/camp owned by the Y. We'll be doing workshops for Friday night until Sunday at noon. Last year I came back exhausted and re-motivated. It's a lot like a Cathe field trip, actually. Fun stuff! I'll see you on Monday!

Have an Insane weekend!
